      • The small boy has a book called Purple Snow about the jacaranda tree.
I like badgers, books and booze, more or less in that order.

This is a European robin, very different from our American robin:

Are they different character wise as well? As ours can be quite lairy, especially the male (funny that), and will have a go at any bird that strays on to its turf....

          Great motto Jacmac!

            • The rash sure doesn't sound fun - I hope you can figure it out! I would not use Vaseline - petrolatum products on skin is not good no matter how moisturizing etc. Just my two cents...

I love the birds! I'm a bird nut - just love the sounds of their calls and songs ... thanks for sharing.

They are quite different, I don't think they are even closely related. The American robin is considerably larger and is in the thrush family. Our much-looked-forward-to harbinger of spring; alas they have not appeared yet. Here in Maine they appear en masse one fine day and cover the entire lawn in their quest for worms. Also the one bird most Americans can name and actually identify!

Somewhere jacaranda trees are blooming and I can't see them!

                  • From Mark's post today:

                    Get Honest About Your Intentions

Take the temperature on a few basic things: your motivation, your worthiness. Yes, you read that right. Are you worthy of a big, substantial, beneficial change – or are you more comfortable feeling weak and slightly unhealthy and not quite living a fulfilling life? I’m completely serious here. The fact is, some people are more comfortable waiting for a better life than they are embracing it. Perhaps that describes all of us at the beginning of the process, but I’ve seen many people over the years self-sabotage their processes because they were (deep down) afraid to be genuinely happy or vibrantly healthy or in charge of their lives. I’m not trying to out anyone here, but I want to also say that if you identify with any of those points you shouldn’t be ashamed. Trust me, the best thing you can do is realize the truth.

                        • That's such a nice song to wake up to!

There's a bird here that sounds like a cell phone.

                          • K update: (I know I said the last one was it, but honestly this is probably the penultimate one) Obviously I know when he arrives at work so I made sure I was busy on another floor - I actually had quite a bit of honest-to-gosh work to do this morning and then quite a few other things came up (chest pain, respiratory distress, etc.) so I was occupied right up until shift change. So I didn't see him alone, only with others around, and that saved any convo, which I was not up for. He did stop me in the hall on the way out and started to tell me he came in early and where had I been? - but luckily someone interrupted and asked me some stuff about a patient so I was able to escape unscathed. Won't see him now until Tuesday AM, if then, and Time will have worked her magic.

TMI here: Rash update: Last night I asked the ER doc to look at my rash. He said "What rash?" So I went and washed off my makeup. He looked again and said "What rash?" So maybe I am overreacting a little. He said that it is probably minor contact dermatitis and to use only Cetaphil and water for a couple of days, then reintroduce my other products. Like I'm going to go without makeup for two days! Hahahahahahahah. Well, I know he's right. But I have to wait until after the concert.
