  • I definitely think you made the right move with K. I won't say anything negative about him - because, well, I don't think he was being a douche........ just being a clueless man.

Dismissing a date once is forgivable...... but twice is a deal breaker for sure.

    Good for you!

      • Knowing you most likely would have had other invitations, clearly putting whatever ahead of your dinner date, unless someone died, clearly reeks of douche behavior.

        • Yes, I think as women we would classify as douche behavior, but since he is male I'm more likely to call him a clueless dud who never learned what women value. I sure hope I'm teaching my sons better!

            • Siobhan, while I am very sorry things have turned out this way, the kiss the other day had me, sadly, expecting this. I do not think he his clueless. I wonder if he is calculative.

By this I mean he cancels a date, lays low, doesn't apologize or reschedule. However, the next private meeting is a kiss and a vague message about getting together. This I see, from experience, as testing the waters.

He knew, on some level, he blew you off/disrespected the commitment he made to you and was fishing to see if you would let him off the hook. Allowing the kiss and texting to set a specific date told him you would and did let him off the hook.

Given those facts he felt secure in changing parameters of the current date. Thinking all along that you would go along to get along.

Your boundary limits are most likely new to him. He might now see you as a challenge and ramp up the pursuit.

In the end all of this has nothing to do with, the wonder that is YOU, and everything to do with what is missing in him. IF I am correct in my assessment then you can count your blessings that you held firm in your boundaries and walked away.

                  • You are right, marcadav, I believe you nailed it! And expressed it very well as always. I can't help but feel I have had a lucky escape. But I am happy. The sun is shining, spring is here at last, I have a bicycle being tuned up for me right at this very moment. I have a Hitachi Magic Wand. I feel better than I ever have in my life. Any man who thinks he can put me on his keychain and get me out of his pocket whenever he feels like it has another thing coming.

But I have nothing spicy for my journal now! I guess it is back to birds and cats and bicycles. Geez, I haven't even tried a good recipe lately, despite having a couple of new cookbooks. I've been fairly indifferent to food, eating easy stuff like eggs and sausages and rotisserie chicken and salad.

I think I will finally get back to TRX today - one thing about a small gym like mine is that schedules can be pretty inconvenient.
