Bless those who challenge us for they remind us of doors we have closed and doors we have yet to open.

Sugar. Like we need reminding. Delicious, addicting. Possibly the product of Satan. Is there anything else that can send us spinning out of control so quickly, diet-wise?

I have to constantly check myself on sugar consumption. If you're a sugar addict, you know what I'm talking about! There is nothing easier to overeat.

Everyone with this problem has to find their own way to deal with it, but deal with it you must if you want to enjoy good health. You might need to practice total abstinence, or you might be able to ration yourself on a daily basis, or give yourself a treat every now and then. It's up to you. But figure it out, because this is super important.

      • Slept really well and woke up hungry! Had a treat all planned. Dried figs, almonds, goat cheese, rice crackers, olives along with piping hot tea. If you like goat cheese at all, you have to try Cypress Grove's Purple Haze. (Cypress Grove makes the famous Humboldt Fog chevre. Also a must if you partake of goat dairy.) Lovely Sunday afternoon repast!

Watching the men's 50K cross country ski race. Ouch. I am pretty ready for the Olympics to be over. It was fun but I am satisfied. I was able to catch a lot stuff at work in the middle of the night when it was replayed from 1 or 2 AM until 4:30 AM. It was fun as a few of us wandered in and out and watched it together. But I am glad to get my life back and away from the TV screen.

Congratulations to Canada on the Men's Hockey Gold. I imagine there will be quite a celebration when those teams return home!

                      • Wouldn't it be great if there was a catnip equivalent for humans, i.e. legal, safe, short acting, without negative connotations, cheap? Like you could take a 20-minute catnip holiday?

You won't thank me for this: Aleia's Gluten Free Almond Horn Cookies Nutrition Facts. Absolutely delicious. They also look homemade. Yes, you could pass them off as your own creation if you weren't so darned honest. Why did I buy these? Why? Why? Why?

                        • Been a bit AWOL for awhile because I have been so blasted busy and also because I am not turning on my computer at home as much in an effort to get more things done. And it works! Have been catching up on everyone's journals. I don't post a lot on other journals but I read a lot of them.

Due to the unbelievable generosity of JudyCr, I have been shopping on Amazon. I have decided on a gazillion things and now I am narrowing it down. One great side benefit of having some $$$ to spend made me think hard about what I really need and really want and both need and want. For instance, I was going to get a new swim mask because the old one is repaired with a safety pin. But when push came to shove, I didn't want to spend money on it and I realized that I have just been too lazy to repair it properly. So I did! Now it looks good and fits perfectly. Cost: $0.

Had way too much caffeine! Two cups of tea and one coffee in about an hour. What was I thinking?

Have you gotten off the track? Feel like you are walking backwards? Getting further from your goals instead of closer? Accept the fact that you are not perfect, forgive yourself, and get back on the right path.
