  • Haha, I hear you about the food demo videos. I met the NotSoFastFood couple at PrimalCon. I've been taking notes on all the food videos, and will likely try out some of the stuff. Today's meal sounded pretty decent.

Totally agree on the CPR thoughts. I've only every had to use it in the ER or medical team situations, but one never knows. Performing it for real vs on the dummy torso is a whole different experience. I'd heartily encourage everyone to get the training, and take it seriously.

Yikes! I live in such an elderly community, it is probably just a matter of time before I have to use it on someone at the library. But the parent must have been fairly young?

I've watched all the FoodCon vids so far and despite my snarky comments am enjoying them very much. Really good info and perspectives. I think I have gotten at least one good idea or piece of info out of every presentation.

        • The FoodCon vids look great today but they will have to wait until later. Busy with chores now, working tonight. Overcast today but not cold - it is supposed to get very cold this weekend - the first real cold spell we have had this season. Geez, the complaining! How did we ever accomplish anything or settle this country? Our forebears did not even have electricity, much less central heat and hot and cold running water.

          • I've managed to catch most of the Real Food podcasts on my iPhone, while driving home from work and then while doing house chores and prepping supper. That way I only have the food demo left for the laptop. The Dr Obrien one was excellent, and the constipation one was full of great information too. Blondie on the food demo, she's actually rather annoying. Not taking notes on that one tonight, and I've watched half of it.

            • Yep, someone needs to let Blondie know that there is such a thing as too much grooming! But I really liked the other three presentations, lots of good stuff. I need to listen to the poop one again, I was doing other stuff and missed a lot of good info.

Back at work, very weird here! My day co-workers were all wonky because they had a challenging day, had to transport a vent patient, the vent malfunctioned (no harm to patient!) and they were really high strung. We got a boatload of supplies from another hospital that is cutting back and I can't even get into the supply room. And I need stuff in there!

Food is very good today. Had a big bowl of leafy greens with carrots and bell pepper, beef. Booch. A square of chocolate and a few sunflower seeds.

                • I'm being too cruel about the recipe presentations. Obviously they are aimed at beginners/newbies, which is good.

I received a refund for my FitBit today, and I am glad I returned it. The return/refund process was very good and I am very satisfied. It didn't cost me anything to try it, not even shipping. I miss it, although I don't miss the unreliability. Having a device like this definitely increases my activity level. Nothing like blinking lights on your wrist to get you moving! I will buy the next generation that comes out.

                  • Slept fairly well, if not long enough, and had a large primal lunch/dinner. Chicken, roasted turnips, tomato soup. That should do me for awhile.

One more night of work. Can't complain. Yesterday lots of wildness happened but it was over before I got there (whew). We are in a funny pattern of very, very slow....overwhelming busyness...very slow...you get the idea.

                    • I remember those days/ nights so well.... alternating crisis and frenzied activity with boredom. I have to confess that I really don't miss those days at all. I think I got my full quota of excitement in those years! Constant adrenalin rush - I worked in casualty / ER on night shift for a number of years, ICU for quite a few and labour and delivery. Most of those places are either boring or WAY too exciting! Add to that the political climate and the crime rates and suffice it to say that I don't ever intend working in that kind of environment again! I enjoyed it while there, but realized once I was done, that there were some pretty traumatic things that will probably haunt me the rest of my life ... Kudo's to you Siobhan and I hope the wildness settles down somewhat. And no I am not mad about sharing the link to my shop - just a little embarrassed

                        • Listening to the Real Food Con for the fourth day and enjoying all the presentations. I really like the science presentations, the food/cooking lessons are a bit wacky. Why do the men dress like chefs and the women dress like they are taking time out from their exotic dancing careers? That stuff freaks me out and distracts me. If I was going to give a cooking demo, I would wear either very plain chef-type garments or some kind of funky paleo t-shirt. I wouldn't have waves of hair all over the place, six pounds of cosmetics, or any cleavage showing. But that's just me, and come to think of it, no one is asking me to do a cooking demo.

                              • Woke up very early full of energy and wide awake. My three nights are done, yay! Been listening to the Real Food Con and working in my kitchen. Strained my beef broth that has been in the slow cooker for 3 days. Made a paleo pizza that was mostly veg. Had a banana with coconut milk, hemp seeds, and a little honey. That is my current favorite treat. I don't feel bad about it because it has a lot of nutrition. My eating has been really clean and I have not had sugar cravings.

My activity level has gone way down without my FitBit! Hmmm.
