    • Well, for better or worse I did get to quite a few journals tonight. Now I'd better get some work done!

The carnivores fought me for it, although I don't think the oregano and mint had anything to do with that. It was delicious.

Slim cat also fought me for the nice armchair. He won. He wore me down after the tenth or so time. I'm sitting in a folding chair that I use on the deck in the summer.
I've lost this fight many times with KC. He took the couch, i got the chair. Sometimes i think he does it on purpose and than looks at me with those eye's, like don't you love me, don't u want me to be comfy....

        • Yes, I am a complete pushover for the eyes. The way they look at you so directly - really so different from humans, who are sulky or annoyed or manipulative. They are just completely purposeful. I wish I could go for things I really want with the same dedication!

That's right. You were watching him to learn. Hey, what? Of course I believe you...

Now I'm feeling sauce-deprived after listening to you rave. Only fresh herb I've got going right now is basil though.

            • Had a really nice dinner here at work, just because. I had some liver pate, smoked salmon, olives, cucumber. Followed this with a coconut macaroon. Also a coffee to get me through the night, hopefully!

                • Woke up to snow this morning! Not too much. My skylights are covered, but the snow is slipping down, down, a little at a time, letting in light. Had some salmon with cucumber. So peaceful.

                  • Do you have a carport/garage for your new car?

                    Comment

                    • Alas, no, not at this point. We have to clean out the garage; then I can park there. But I drove around a lot today, and my car did great! That was a relief. The all-weather tires are good, the anti-skid thing works, the brakes - all of it good. I felt like the little engine that could out there. Don't worry, I am very, very careful. I didn't want to miss out on swimming and get behind in my errands because of a little snow. Actually it was a fair amount of snow - somewhere between 'little' and 'lots'

I'm all ready for Christmas now! Sent off a package to my brother and that is the end of the gifts. Usually I just give him an Amazon gift card, but this year I felt like sending real presents. I got him a desk calendar with pics of Maine, a (very nice silk) tie, and a book that I read and enjoyed very much and think that he might like too called Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. It's a combination of old books, new tech, and a mystery. I enjoyed it and know quite a number of others who enjoyed it also. It is definitely not a chick book, really more of a guy book.

When I got into work I was presented with a little box of homemade candies - chocolates and peppermint. I ate it ALL! Feeling a bit sick. That's a lotta sugar! You know what, it was worth it.

Before I left home I had a nice flatiron steak, broiled, with some pesto sauce (Mark's) and some roasted red pepper sauce (also Mark's). I received my new cookbook today with the sauces and dressings and I am very impressed. It is a professional production, the recipes are well tested, and nutrition information is included (YAY!) It's really a complete cookbook, not 'just' sauces, because each recipes gives serving suggestions and I know how to cook meat and eggs. A lot of the recipes can be used for various things - like the blueberry chutney, which is good with pork or turkey and can also be mixed in yogurt. So buy it already!

                          • I think you'll like it! Honestly, I'm going to start at the beginning and work my way through it. Once you have a few staples, like some vinegars and spices and herbs, the recipes are a snap. I already have most of the stuff - apple cider vinegar, the herbs, garlic, onion.

                            • The coolest thing about reading through Mark's cookbook was realizing that I can make all this stuff and eat freely of it, and feel great and wear size 6 clothes! Usually when I look through a cookbook, basically I am torturing myself because I feel I am gaining weight just looking at it.
