You're more dedicated than I am. If I don't get my workout in first thing in the day, it doesn't happen. Isn't happening so much right now anyway. So, moving it to late AM/early PM will be "interesting" - and I will let you know what happens.

          • I can see how some people have made major changes in short order following the PB. While I haven't lost any weight this past week, I am seeing more changes to my body. Specifically, my legs are getting slimmer and more muscular from the regular walking. And, my belly is also continuing to shrink and to get firmer on the lower abdomen. The changes are not from the walking alone - but walking while eating the primal diet and doing IF. So, I expect to continue to see more changes over my entire body as I increase my exercises and become more consistent with them.

            • justaseeker...you are doing great!!! keep up the good work...the weight will eventually start coming off. For some people it just takes a little time for the body to adjust. Some don't see any weight loss for months. And then all of a sudden you'll be down! So don't give up!!! The numbers on the scale are only a part of the bigger picture anyways! The tape measure is also a good tool as is just your own two eyes!!

              • Thanks, PC. No worries about me giving up. I'm not feeling discouraged at all. I can see that I am losing body fat, so I assume that the steady number on the scale reflects an increase in lean muscle mass - both of which are desirable at this point.

Eventually the rate of the fat loss should increase to the point that the overall weight declines. I have lost a few pounds since I started primal in early January, but since I don't weigh regularly or often I can't be more specific or sure about how much I have lost in terms of weight.

                • Yesterday I increased my iodine dose to 25 mg of Iodoral - took two 12.5 mg tablets when I had been taking one. I also drank salted water (1/2 tsp Celtic salt) at that time, which I haven't been doing lately. Didn't notice any immediate effects from the increase - which seems unusual since before I always had immediate effects from increasing the Iodine Plus 2. Muddied the waters by eating a little chocolate (85% Lindt) later in the day - which gave me a mild headache. (Yes, that was a 'cheat' from my usual approach to snacks - but oh, well. I don't binge when I cheat - just like a little variety occasionally.) Anyway, right now I see no harm in making the iodine increase and the plan is to maintain this level for one month.

                  • That is excellent news that you have worked through your stomach issues and can increase the iodine.

Thanks, Pam. I don't know if its "worked" as much as "working" - but , yes, both my stomach and esophagus seem so much better now. I don't have acid reflux any longer.

I've noticed that swallowing is not as uncomfortable as it was - and evidently I had adjusted to the previous discomfort and didn't really notice it. Oh, I noticed when it flared up - and it didn't take a lot to make it flare up - but now I notice how much better it feels when I swallow.

I think a big part of the credit goes to the Manuka honey - eaten 30 minutes before a meal.

                      • A little update on my increase of Iodoral over the weekend. I did experience some responses to the increase - but nothing that a little salted water couldn't handle. No actual need to salt load. I experienced some warm flushes in the core a few hours after the dose - only lasted for an hour or so. I had a little more energy. Dreams a little more intense. And, on the second day I had an increase in urine output accompanied by a little discomfort in my bladder. That cleared out with drinking more water after a few hours.

Reflecting on how I feel this morning, I'd say that 25 mgs of Iodoral is much better for me than 12.5 mgs, I feel subjectively better overall. I am once again grateful for being able to make this increase safely.

                        • Tuesday morning I received notice that my father had passed away late Monday night. We were estranged. He was abusive. He was 87 and had congestive heart failure. He thought he was going to live forever. Its a blessing that he died before he spent all of his current wife's inheritance, like he did my mother's before he divorced her.

So, I am not sad in the traditional sense. But, I am still grieving. His life and its aftermath were/are tragic. I grieve the loss of the idealized father that I never had - once again. This too shall pass. I'll be more talkative again soon.

                            • I am sorry that your father's death brings back the thoughts of how it could have been different. Will you go to or be involved in the services? I imagine it could be hard to hear people say good things about him but also a relief on some small level to have that evidence that he is really gone.

Thanks, Jo. I feel like this will be the last - at least the last major event.
