butter chicken has heavy cream - so as much as I love it - I can't have it without lactaid pills. I haven't tried making it with coconut cream - that might be really good! and could be thickened with the arrowroot powder as well. Next time I make it I will have those things on hand.

    • I think I'm feeling better -- last trip to the bathroom was several hours ago - and the pain in my stomack has reduced to just a nagging ache rather than gut wrenching pain! I'm craving chicken strips! I don't ever eat that kind of food, breaded and deep fried, but I sure want some right now. I'm trying to figure out what to ask my hubby to grab on his way home from the family gathering that I missed. I don't want to do veggies -- to much fiber. maybe I'll have him cook me a salmon fillet when he gets home........ OH - he just texted............ he already got the chicken strips. Oh well --

      • That's okay, enjoy them and move on. I think you need to listen to your body - sometimes I just know I need more carbs (usually when I'm burning the candle at both ends). Rest, refeed, recover!

I want to like salmon, but it is really fishy to me. You seem to have it a lot - any suggestions for making it palitable for a non-fishy fish eater?

Well, I'm not too sure about American sources. Anywhere that sells gluten-free products, I would imagine. Check bulk stores, health food stores. Usually called arrowroot flour or starch. Tapioca flour is cheaper, but arrowroot freezes better, in case you make a big batch of some sauce for future use.

the fresher it is the less "fishy" it will smell and taste. Also, the native fish are less "fishy" than the farmed fish. White fish is sometimes the better choice for those who aren't really fish lovers. Halibut or cod, they are both very mild fish. Talapia is really good. I pretty much love all fish but I'm not keen on muscles or scallops -- I don't like the rubbery kind of seafood.

              • I can do muscles, clams, oysters - not so keen on scallops either. Thanks for the tips.

                • +Spend Monday on the boat - what a beautiful day it was! Still had a bit of a tummy ache, but not the bowel issues. I ate without getting sick so was happy about that!

Last night I got really mad at my hubby for not caring more about his health. I told him I don't want to be his mom in few years - alone and lonely because dad didn't take care of himself and he died on her! His dad had CHF and diabetes and high blood pressure. He was over weight for most of his life and he never did anything for his health. My hubby isn't caring about his weight - and he is getting a very large gut! I'm guessing on his 5'7" frame he's carrying about 220 pounds. He won't tell me what he weighs. The gut is not attractive.......... and its not healthy! He eats Taco Bell or other fast food for lunch - and then thinks he's doing really good because we eat healthy at home. I wish I was like some of the other people who could get their spouse on board....... it would be so much easier for me to stay on course if my hubby was with me on this. I'm not giving up though......... I'll keep trying.

So, the chicken strips and fries tasted good.......... but boy did I pay for it! about an hour after I ate my legs started aching!!!! I hurt really bad for a couple hours and then it went away. I know it was the breading and crappy oils on the food. I won't do that again.

I weighed yesterday....... I was obviously retaining a LOT of water - because after 2 days of eating practically nothing I gained 3 pounds! But I think most of it is gone today. I weighed after I had already gotten dressed - and fully clothed with my jeans on I was 189. So I'm guessing I'm back down to 186 again.

We hired a company to clean the outside of our house and windows in and out.......... the guy is here now cleaning the inside windows - and it feels really strange to have someone cleaning my windows while I'm sitting here doing nothing! Very weird! But hey ---- at the end of the day the house is going to look pretty great!

I'd really love to not go to work today........

                  • I get angry with my husband for the same thing. He's 6'1" at 320 lbs. I know your struggles. He doesn't understand the necessity to remain 100% faithful to Paleo like we do... He thinks that as long as a majority of his meals are Paleo, he's ok, but he's not and it's hard to get that through his head that while it's not an "all or nothing" thing, it needs to be pretty damn close to work.

Glad you're feeling better and hope you continue to recover.

Great video Candy in Wonderland. I will try it soon. Breaking news on the fish front - I had talapia (okay I crusted it with Parmesan cheese) last night and it was good. Next step cod, then I will reattempt salmon!

                          • Funny story... this is exactly what we do with fish. DH's dad always did it and we followed suit. I thought it was just some silly wife's tale thing... had no idea it's what the pros do! Sweet! But we soak it longer... good to know we don't need to soak it overnight.

                              • I personally like the fishy smell

So, the scales were up again. Wednesday is my official "write it down" day. So 189 had to go on my chart --- CRAP!!! I didn't even get to record the 186 cuz it didn't happen on a wednesday. I'm so bummed. It will come down. I think its just water weight cuz I've been eating very healthy stuff - it can't be real weight.

Hubby came home yesterday and said we're going deep sea fishing Friday. Salmon! Yeah Not thrilled with the idea of going out in the big water........ it sorta freaks me out to be out in a little boat in all that water! I've gone on 3 cruises - the giant boats don't scare me - but the little boats scare me. It will be fine --- thousands of people do it every day. I'm looking forward to landing a couple big fat salmon though!

I think I'll pull bubbles out of the garage and go for a bike ride this morning.

Had my blood drawn yesterday to see whats happening with my thyroid. Sure hoping she will bump me up to 30 mg a day. I think I would feel better - and maybe it would help with my weight loss efforts too. I should know in a few days I guess. I didn't ask her how long it took to get the results. I'm hoping to hear by Friday.

Yesterday we hired a company to wash the outside of our house - and all the windows inside and outside! The even cleaned the roof and gutters! The house is so clean and nice now! I love clean windows! Now I just have to keep up with it so we don't have to hire out again. Seems we do this about every 5 years. Its not a LOT of money, I guess it worth it to have it done instead of having to do it myself. I tried to convince hubby that I could do it - but he didn't want me climbing up and down the ladder and getting on the roof and stuff. He's a little over protective - but I sorta love that about him.

Step daughter #2 is moving into another apartment with a friend, so hubby will be moving her on Saturday. This time she is taking the bed from our house! One more thing out of her room! I'm going to ask hubby if we can box up the little that is still in her room and turn that room into a home office. We need one so I can have a place to work on the business books. There isn't that much left in there -- a small book case with some books, a small student desk with a printer that won't work, and a large chest of drawers that still has some clothes in it. I want to paint and put up some curtains first, then get a desk that is big enough to work at. I'll get it all set up so I don't have to drag every thing out when I need to pay bills. Using the dining room table is getting very old! In the long run I think the other daughters room will be the office and #2's room will be a guest room. But for now, this will have to do.

My son is still dragging his feet on the process of moving out. Not sure what to do about it. He was going to call yesterday to see about getting his paperwork started for the prequalification stuff. But, he said he was in a meeting all day at work and didn't have time. It only takes 2 minutes......... he could have done it during his lunch break. I'm getting frustrated!

I'm going for a bike ride..........
