  • Good luck. My wife wanted to do the same thing (WW Online). Let us know how it works out.

    • Hubby said he'd do Barre3 with me - so I cancelled my monthly online subscription and ordered 3 DVDs. It'll be much easier working out in the living room with the big screen, than trying to use the computer monitor.

But he says I have to be topless.............. go figure. Men............such base creatures.

        • Tomi I hear you about being addicted to the forums. I get nothing done if I get all caught up in reading everything. I've started to just read those of you I keep up with on a regular basis (some I read but rarely comment on) & then for a few mins in the morning & then in the evening. I'm not even gonna post much in my own journal...if I get bored with it I'm sure everyone else will too. I don't lead a very exciting life & since mil is not really in the picture anymore (yay) then I don't have that drama to write about. So I may just do an 'update' once a week, just so when I go back & read stuff I can see progress if any. I dunno, we'll see.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! Or as my favorite camel calls it....hump DAYYYY! lol

              • wanted to share what I'm making for dinner.

Crock Pot Balsamic Chicken and Sausage

                Makes 6 servings

18 oz boneless, skinless chicken breasts (don’t hate me for that)
13 oz fresh Italian sausage links (sweet or spicy or a combo is fine)
1 white onion, thinly sliced (not diced!)
                4-6 cloves of garlic, chopped
                Extra virgin olive oil
                1 tsp Italian seasoning
                1 tsp garlic powder
                1 tsp kosher salt
2 – 14.5 oz cans organic diced tomatoes
                1 – 15 oz can tomato sauce
1 cup water or chicken stock
                1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
                + 1 tsp Italian seasoning
                + 1/2 tsp kosher salt
                + 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Lay the breasts raw in the bottom of the slow cooker and drizzle with a couple tablespoons of olive oil. Add the first round of seasonings directly onto the chicken (Italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt). Don’t mix, just leave it on top. During the slow cooking process, it seasons the chicken directly for perfect flavor. Lay the fresh sausage over the seasoned chicken.
Layer the thinly sliced onion and chopped garlic next. Then pour the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water/stock and balsamic vinegar into the pot. Top with the second round of seasonings. Again, don’t mix this up. I like the way the flavors develop with this style.
Cover and set the slow cooker to high for five hours. Not all slow cookers are created equal, so it’s important you have a personal relationship with yours… Mine tends to be really hot and cooks faster than most recipes call for. With that in mind, it’s safe to assume that you could make this recipe on low for 7 hours. Worst case is that the chicken will dry out, so if that happens I’m super sorry!
serve over garlic mashed potatoes, roasted cauliflower, or a bed of sauteed zucchini.

                  • The primalization of WWs is going GREAT! Its the perfect balance of freedom and control that I need. There's no counting calories or macros. I'm eating VLC and remaining primal - closer to paleo since I don't do dairy. I started Friday and I'm already down 2 pounds. You put in the food and quantity and it calculated the points. Most fruits and veggies are 0 points, but since I eat very little of both I don't really worry about the carbs adding up.

My goal is to be at a happy weight/size by next spring/summer. That will translate to approx. 140 pounds -- perhaps a size 6. Not sure since I haven't been that small since the change to vanity sizing took over. I currently wear a size 14 jeans at 188 pounds. 20 years ago I was in a size 14 jeans at 155 pounds. What does that tell you about vanity sizing?

Two weeks to our Arizona trip! Looking forward to it. Was hoping to be a bit thinner.......... but whatever. I've been hoping for that for 10 years.

We're coming into winter and as always I'm watching the boatshop account like an eagle and starting to bark at hubby to stop buying no essential things for the boatshop. We'll be laying off single-guy employee at the end of this month. I don't want hubby to bring him back in the spring, but I don't have a lot to say about it. The problem is, he's sorta slow and lazy. He does good work -- but just not enough of it to cover his expenses. And now with the impending increase in medical premiums it will only be worse.

Here's my opinion............ please don't feel the need to argue you're side. Obamacare........... ugh. My friends across the street are self employed and have been informed their insurance premiums will increase enormously!!! Like 300% !!! Another person told me his business is seeing an 89% increase in their rates. And this is coming from their carriers, not some rumor mill. What happened to America the FREE? How are we FREE when we are no longer FREE to choose? Health care expenses suck because doctors think they need to make $500,000 a year! And hospitals are BIG BUSINESS and want big profits for the share holders. And insurance companies are profiting at our expense!! But does that mean our government needs to step in and play big brother? What happened? Our health care system needs to be fixed --- but Obamacare or any other socialist-minded program the mandates our cooperation and participation is NOT the answer!!

                    • You get a standing ovation from me on your thoughts on OCare!!! In our situation...we barely make enough to make ends meet now...we can not afford insurance...the company hubby works for is very tiny & so they don't have to provide a plan. So...they are going to charge us, like $90 a month as a penalty for not having insurance....(I think that's what someone said), so if I can't afford insurance what makes them think I can afford a penalty!!??? And it's my understanding that since the IRS is in charge of "policing" it they will get your refund if you got one coming...& if not? They will go into your checking account & just take it! That's when we will no longer have a checking account! I get so upset by all this it makes me want to cry. It's not right...it's not fair...& so frustrating!!! But yet those idiots in DC have a supreme insurance plan they gave themselves & are not subject to the same things we are!! Which goes against exactly what the constitution says they are not supposed to do.

Ok...rant over....sorry. This whole thing just makes me furious!

Oh...& I'll be watching your progress with WW to see how it goes.

                        • Obamacare was a decent idea, but the wrong way to implement it. If you want true healthcare reform, put a cap on what docs and hospitals can charge per service. Office visit? Max $x. CAT scan? Max $x. It'll run insurances out of business, because they won't be able to jack their prices sky high. I'd be a lot more amenable to going to the doc if they could only charge me $40 per 15 minute visit. I'd be a lot more comfortable going to the ER if I could see the price book and knew what my bill would be before I left. Charging me $60 to change my bandage is ridiculous. Charging me $15000 to lay in a machine for an hour is obscene. Charging me $140 for "Hi, you ok? Here's some pills, bye" is flat out highway robbery.

                            • Additionally, Tricare - the military's health care system - is AWESOME! Sure, you have to jump through a few hoops for certain services, but if it's a medically necessary thing RIGHT NOW, they don't bat an eye. My son's prenatal care and delivery "cost" $17,000 according to the hospital. Tricare only gave them $3,700. Rest had to be washed away b/c it was exhorbitant and asinine. I paid zero dollars for my care. None at all - no premiums, no co-pay, no prescription costs... nothing.

Tricare is a single payer system.

                              • Yeah, not exactly true. The reason hospital bills are so high is because of things like Tricare. Tricare only pays $3,700. Medicare only pays $2700. Mr. Illegal/Ms. Destitute pays nothing. Suddenly the hospital is $50K in the hole and has to make it up somewhere. In comes poor Ms. Responsible and gets a bill for the full amount because the hospital has to make it up somewhere.

Take the hospital where I did my internship - 2/3 of it's operating budget was spent on treating the indigent - those who did not pay. 2/3 of the budget covered that. Hire doctors? Can't. Better beds? Can't. Need an MRI? Yeah, go to Tucson.

I used to go to a walk in clinic. They closed because medicare paid so little they could not keep the doors open. My chiro says that he is thinking about only taking cash as he is so often stiffed by insurance companies. Doctors do not have to take obamacare. They can shut down.

My sister in law was all butt hurt because the doctor she wanted to deliver her baby didn't accept medicare/aid. Tough shit. Also, there was a one year wait for any doctor here to take new patients. Do you think that wait will go down now everyone has to be insured? Yeah, good luck.
