  • I love your garden!!! If I didn't have two young'in's and 2 water dogs (labs), I'd have a garden with a pond. No doubt. Maybe once everyone's grown up a bit I can do something like that. For right now, though, I have a small flower bed along my driveway with some daffodils, some "bare naked ladies" type lilies on the north side of my garage, and some irises on the backside of my garage (east). I have a "container" garden that only houses sugar snap peas right now and a few strawberry plants because the late freezes we had killed everything else (despite covering them). Next year I think I'll pull my bulbs and use part of my driveway flower bed to plant some veggies.

    • @Jenn -- great idea for using the space to grow veggies. Flowers are beautiful, but not edible. Pretty gardens and kidlets/dogs don't always go together. And your labs would most likely be IN the pond all the time. Good thing bassets don't like the water - well, Zeus loves to drink the pond water! In fact he's out there right now guzzling!!! We've had neighbor dogs jump in the pond though! Our fish didn't like it too much. We have gold fish and a giant (10") Koi. We used to have 5 very large fish - but they've been turned into Herron food - GRRR! I have no idea how many fish are in there now. They've multiplied over the years. We also have one very large frog - have no idea where he came from but he's been here for several years now.

I bought some seeds today - 3 kinds of squash - zucchini, acorn, and sweet meat. Have never heard of the sweet meat - but they're white and sorta pumpkin shaped so I thought it would be fun to grow them. Hopefully they taste good! The packages say you can store squash for months! Thats cool! So now I just have to decide where to put them, and get them in the ground Yeah! I also bought a package of Sweet Peas to plant along the front porch.

Well - the ice cream won the battle today - I had some while I was heating up my green tea. Oh well --- I'm not going to beat myself up over it. The only bad part of it is the sugar - the rest is just dairy. I could have done much worse things. I've cut out the dark chocolate and almonds -- maybe I should try just snaking on carrots sticks - or, the green tea seems to satisfy me pretty good too. Just make a cup of that as soon as I get home from work and maybe I won't have the urge to nibble on anything.

This is great. My candida-diet roommate and I have been talking about buying a big freezer. We'll look into buying a beef share!

Had some muscle aches today - must be from the breading on the chicken strips and the rice I ate yesterday. Oh, I just remembered there was also a small bit of macaroni salad with the teriyaki chicken and rice. I won't be making that choice again. I should have just fasted instead.

Doc visit went quick. A few questions and some tests ordered. I'm doing a saliva test to check hormone levels, cortisol, and some other stuff I don't remember. Getting blood work done for Thyroid antibodies (you can have those?), TSH, free T3 and free T4, Vitamin B12, and D, a CBC, Ferritin, Sed Rate, and IGF-1. If all this doesn't show me anything I'm going to a chinese herbalist for help! Course, I don't know any chinese herbalists so that could be difficult.

So they can find hormonal stuff in your spit? Never knew that...... I wonder why they don't use this test at the endocrine office. I should ask the boss.

Its an absolutely beautiful day! The temp is supposed to reach 80 today! YEAH! The tree's are all leafing out now - that means the big Catalpa tree in our front yard will be blooming soon - and it smells wonderful! Sure does make a mess when all those big white buds fall on the grass though. I'll just have to get out there with the lawn mower every couple of days to keep up with it. good exercise. move slowly often!

My thoughts are all over the place today - having a hard time staying focused. I have many "symptoms" that could point to something being out of whack - lack of concentration being one of them. Just gonna sign off for now....... Need to go to work soon anyway.

I know I've read about the enzymes and bile salts as well as talked with a few docs about it. If I come across anything I'll be sure to forward it to you.

Tonight for dinner we had grass feed roast, done in the nuwave with a rub and coconut oil, cauliflower, and sweet potato.
A delicious way to get enzymes and probiotics are by eating live, cultured vegetables, like sauerkraut, kim chee, and kefir. MMM!

              • Kefir is a veggie? Which reminds me, I bought some milk, so I can try the kefir granules my DIL gave me.

$3000 for a colonoscopy? I am so glad I live in Canada... I have to get one of those every few years because of a family history of colon cancer. So far, all is good.

I plan on being a very cool old lady. And in much better shape than I was as a young lady. I will let everybody else worry about whether or not I am beautiful. I have to hand it to my husband, he has always treated me like I was, even when I was over 200 pounds. I thought he was mildly insane, but I didn't try to get him cured... LOL! For myself, I am happy to look in the mirror and see that there has been improvement.

Nope - caught out in the pacific ocean! Farmed salmon is mushy and icky.

Never heard of it. I have heard there is a pill option instead of drinking a gallon of artificially flavored water with nuclear powered laxatives!

Sorry, don't know. I do know what they gave me last time was a lot easier to handle, but I forget what it was. Sorry. I don't usually retain things like that. I figure it's the doctor's job to know it...

                            • Blood draw this morning. One of the worst phlebotomists I have ever had stick a needle in my arm. She won't be drawing my blood ever again. I know how hard some people are to draw - I used to do phlebotomy when I was Clinical Research Coodinator, but I knew to at least feel for the vein before I stuck the needle in! I ended up with 2 sticks and blood on my jeans! Not a good experience. I doubt she will work there very long.

Started the spit thing this morning too. I guess if something is wrong I will find out now. If nothing is wrong then I just have a retarded metabolism and will have to continue to fight to lose every pound. Right now - I'm going out for a walk. Time to get started on my daily walks/rides again!
