    • You know Judg, it's all gravy! I thank those who did before and after I received a letter in the mail today that I was excited to see. I didn't think it would ever come, but it did. It's just one more burden lifted right now, with the possibility of another being taken care of soon. While I know I dug myself into this hole, I'm working my way out of it with the right equipment Today at work was productive and that also lent to my happiness. Plus, I came to find out that there are those who are looking out for me with the issue from yesterday. Thank goodness for people who have your back with stuff. I'm really blessed and sometimes I completely forget that.

I had one minor slip up and it's sort of a strange one for me. For the most part, I'm not a soda drinker. It's a rare occasion that you'll even see me with one in my hand. So, today I had two sips of Gabi's coke. I did crave some chocolate this evening. I was even thinking about it while I was driving Gabi to her friends house so she could stay there for the night. If we had gone to her parents house, there's a store right around the corner that has the 95%. Then we ended up taking her to the girl's grandmother's house. There's a store close to there, but I don't know what they have, yet. Hopefully I keep it that way. Goodness, I've become a fiend! I'd say this is definitely an addiction. I did manage to reason my way out of it for the night, but I almost reasoned myself back in. I know the dark chocolate is supposed to be ok, but it's still a gateway right now. Must control myself! My thought had been, well I can have it as a treat. Then I realized what that treat would do. Oh, there was a small battle, but I reasoned that I just needed some fat and maybe some coconut milk (unsweetened) when I got home. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning. It's my Friday morning run to the store before work. I think I can handle this.

Tomorrow, after work, I'm going to get the stuff I need for the fast. I'm planning on doing some dancing tomorrow night too since Gabi will be gone for two nights in a row.

      Today
B: 5 pcs bacon, some sauteed veggies (I think I'm going to stay away from the store ones because I'm sure they're using vegetable oils)
S: Mixed nuts and one small avocado
L: Mix of roasted chicken, sliced, and cubed ham with some tomatoes
S: Roasted (in the microwave) almonds in goat milk butter
D: Blue Sky burger, no bun, with 2 pcs bacon (phew, no more of theirs, it's salty!) and a side salad with some greek vinegrette. I'm sure there was sugar in there somewhere.
S: Well, I'm still kind of hungry for some reason, so I'm having more roasted almonds in goat milk butter
Drinks: Water, two sips of coke, and some coconut milk
Exercise: 10 minute trainer lower body

      • Sounds like you made it through. One day at a time, someone once said. Yep, you gotta' have someone at your back.

So, do you have bacon where you are without sugar? ecks seems to be the only one with a good supply of that. Bet that bacon in the burger had sugar. That might be what you noticed. You are so brave to fast. Sounds like a lot of things are looking up, so that should help. It's amazing how a few things going right just make the whole picture look better.

What's the Friday before work run? Do you have to get donuts like my husband? Well, he doesn't have to -- it would be unfair to say he doesn't love donuts!

        • Usually on Fridays, I stop at the store and grab breakfast from there. Bacon, mostly. Oh, I don't know if they bacon from last night had sugar in it, but I know it had salt. I'm not used to that anymore on my bacon.

                  • Sounds like you are doing so well, Alessandra. That's encouraging.

Strange thing about chocolate. I seem to like it less. Yeah, I know. I can't believe I'm even writing that. It just hasn't induced bliss for me at all the last few times. So I've decided not to bother until I really, really want it. I've actually been getting more of a thrill out of a spoonful of Greek yogurt with a sprinkling of salt on it. Go figure.

                        • Judg, that's good to read. I'm getting there. I managed not to talk myself into the chocolate, even today...so far. I want it and I know why I do, but I'm going to try my hardest to stay disciplined with this until I can get out of the sugar problem. I read Mark's post with 7 more foods. Oh, I'm going to have to get rid of my agave nectar. Honestly, it's kind of fine with me because I miss honey. The local honey here has a slight bitter taste to it because of the wildflower origins and it's kind of tantalizing. However, it's going to have to wait a bit. Thankfully my allergies are much better this year, so I won't need the tablespoon a day.

Ecks, dear goodness, if I could hug you right now, I would! Thank you

I had a great day yesterday! I got some dancing in and did my workout sort of later on in the evening. Gabi had stayed over one more night at her friends house, so I was on my own.

Today, I was going to fast this morning, but my tummy wanted some food. So, I had some salmon, strawberries, guacamole, a little aoli sauce, two pickle spears, and some sliced tomatoes for lunch since I didn't eat breakfast this morning. I slept in for a bit. Sleeping in on the weekends for me is like 8 A.M. and that worked out just fine. I think I'll start the two day fast tomorrow and see what happens. I'm going to need to buy the supplies today.

                          Yesterday
                          Breakfast: 5 pcs bacon
S: 1 small avocado, mixed nuts
L: Celery, sliced roasted chicken, and cubed ham
S: Microwave roasted almonds in melted goat cheese butter
                          D: 4 more pcs bacon
S after dancing all night long: 3 egg omelette with sauteed chopped up yellow and orange bell pepper and onion. Cooked the veggies in olive oil and the eggs in bacon grease

Drinks: Water, coconut milk, and one Smirnoff Ice (I know, bad idea) I think I might ask next time if they have the hard cider.

I had a blast dancing last night even if the place wasn't packed. Ran into some coworkers and a good time was had by all.

                          • Ok, I found everything but the last two items on this list. I'll still be okay, right? Oh, and mayo that's made right for the egg salad. Stinking store, even the olive oil mayo had canola oil in it!

pork rinds with mashed avocado or sour cream

                            slices of kerrygold butter
small servings of Liquid Fat Bomb or
                            Bee's Candida Egg drink

I break it down to 5 200-calorie 'meals'. Definitely try to get two of your meals to be pork rinds/nuts/chewy bacon, because I found the hardest thing about this is the lack of CHEWING! Eat as slowly as you can, because 200 calories of fat can disappear VERY quickly. Drink plenty of water between meals to give your mouth something to do.

Energy-wise, I had no problems with getting through my day. The main challenge is that it is SO boring. I am used to meals being pleasurable. This, not so much.

                            • I am still trying to wrap my mind around the idea of a fat fast. What does it accomplish?

Odille went on a protein-only diet for three days and lost 2.5 kilos. That's 5.5 pounds.

                              • If you have all that stuff, Alessandra, you will be set for a magnificent fat fast. The Liquid Fat Bomb, and Bee's Candida Egg drink can be found by searching the Recipes thread for links. Bee has a very interesting site on battling Candida (among other things). I hope it works well for you. How long are you planning to do it?

Judg- The Atkins Fat Fast was promoted by Dr. Atkins as a way to get into ketosis for those who are metabolically-resistant, or to break a long-term plateau. It was based on some research from the 50s by two British doctors. It is supposed to spare muscle, in addition to burning (some) fat. I have found it very useful as a way to rid myself of sugar/starch cravings after a period of bad eating, when I'll eat right for a day or two, cheat, eat right, cheat, curse myself for giving in, you know the drill. It is meant to be a short-term thing, a few days, perhaps up to a week for the hard cases, NOT a long-term diet.
