I'm going to CrossFit again with my whole family this morning, DH, oldest son and me have a WOD from 11 tot 12am, 2 youngest sons have a kids WOD from 12 to 1 pm. I've already cut op some (starchy) veggies and programmed the oven, so they will be nicely roasted when we come home for lunch.
Tonight we'll be going to a restaurant for my grandmother's birthday. It has an "all you can eat" buffet, but the quality of the food is not really that great (or at least it wasn't the last time we went there years ago). But hey, it's my grandma's choice. I'll try to make the best possible choices and stay away from the dessert buffet (if there's fresh fruit I'll take that).
I made BBBBalls yesterday, so had 2 for breakfast with a cup of coffee. And I'm taking a banana to WOD for post-workout .
Have a good day everyone and enjoy time with your families as I'm doing with mine!
I think it's pretty awesome, never thought I'd have so much fun working out with my family!
The kids were pretty shy at first (they're always a bit scared of new things, middle son Lex has Asperger's syndrome and youngest son Lou is a little perfectionist deep inside and scared to fail) but within 5 minutes the trainer (a very nice girl) had them to join in and they did really great!
The gym offers the first week for free, but now they're going to see if they can give us a "family-discount" (I hope so, or it will be a quite expensive business, but I'd rather give up something else instead of this).
I'm gonna dive into the bathtub with my DH now and get ready for restaurant tonight .
Tomorrow we'll go egg hunting at my in-laws and then have dinner there, MIL has provided loads of fresh veggies and traditionally we eat boiled eggs . If I don't get online tomorrow I want to wish everybody a wonderful Sunday!
I'm so happy to see my DH is jumping on the wagon too! I'm thrilled!! He's still having (sugarfree) cereal for breakfast, but didn't eat any bread yesterday at lunch (he had roasted veggies with me) and left the fries on his plate in the restaurant.
Restaurant wasn't too bad, I made good choices from the buffet (some steamed salmon, few olives, bit of feta cheese, tomatoes,...); DH and me shared a "côte à l'os" (T-bone steak) with butter (with herbs), we got fries although we asked not to have them, but we left them on our plate.
As desert (there was a buffet) I had 1,5 strawberry and 2 little slices of apple and held them under the "chocolate-fountain" . Sooo good .
I'm making my bolognese-sauce right now for lunch today. Kids will have (full spelt) pasta and DH and me will have thinly sliced zucchini and pumpkin with the sauce. I mixed the sliced veggies with some olive oil, salt, pepper and herbs and roast them in the oven. I don't miss pasta a bit!
My husband mentioned to me this morning that his digestive system was paying him back for eating grains this weekend. lol
My daughter, I have noticed, is not a big pasta or bread eater. She usually leaves most of it on her plate. I wonder if that means she's got some issues dealing with grains that I haven't noticed yet. But she LOVES her meat and will usually gobble it all up in a flash.
My boy is addicted to processed food. Probably has a bit of a sugar addiction going on. Working with him to choose fruit over garbage, but it's trying at times. He'll come around - he's only 5.
I would LOVE to go to the gym with my family, but it's a little impossible given their ages. Hopefully in the future we'll have our family gym time.

A gallbladder attack, IMO, feels worse than nonstop labor pains..
AGREE! I had to have my gallbladder removed several years ago; I remember saying to my DH I'd rather give birth again to a 4,5kg (10 lb) baby (yes, that's what my youngest weighed at birth) than having another gallbladder attack...
So, I'm back, I've been a bit busy the last few days . On Monday I've worked, keeping 7 little girls busy on a birthday party (it's what I do as a little side-business) at my friends house. She made a wonderfull victoria-sponge cake with fruit and whipped cream, I only had a small bowl of fresh strawberries with whipped cream .
Yesterday we had seafood-enchillada (a recipe from Everyday Paleo) with roasted sweet potatoes and guacamole. I went to Crossfit with oldest and youngest son (DH wasn't feeling well and Lex stayed home with him).
This morning DH had a vasectomy, so I went to the hospital with him. After 2,5 hours we were back home . He's feeling ok.
Lunch today was a "insalata caprese" (tomatoes, basil and buffalo mozzarella, black pepper, olive oil and a little balsamic vinegar). DH had 2 slices of my first homemade sourdough-spelt-bread with it. Tonight we'll have chicken thighs with tomatoes, bell peppers and a salad (and rice for the kiddo's).
I'm on holiday this week, and so are kids an DH, so we're trying to spend some time together (that's why I haven't been online yesterday).
@Jenn: there are some exercises you can do with even small kids! Try playing "caveman" , it's what I do with my kids sometimes: one of them has to be the prey, and the other (you included of course) are the hunters who have to catch the prey (sprints!). Then you have to carry the prey to your cave (Lift heavy things). You can play "wheelbarrow" (place hands on the ground, the kids take you by the knees and you 'walk' on your hands; then change places), have them hop over each other. Jump with both feet on (low) bench (my kids are better at that than I am!). Oh, and try to teach them rope skipping! You see, it's play AND exercise AND quality time all in one!
