    • I can keep tabs on Candy through Facebook. She's the only one who posts in my newsfeed in Dutch! lol She has posted recently, so I know she's still around - just can't tell what she's saying.

        • Those translators can mangle things quite badly sometimes I have seen some pretty funny results ... but worth a try! I could probably translate what she said come to think of it - it is pretty close to Afrikaans in some ways...

          • In some ways? Afrikaans is a direct descendant of Dutch, and a pretty recent one too. I bet you could understand 3/4 of it.

                • Hi girls, sorry I didn't get back here but things are a crazy busy here! My back is better, luckily and I've been back to doing CrossFit (not looking for any PR's though, not stressing my back too much). I had an injection of cortisone straight into the hernia, which seemed to have fixed it pretty much . What a relieve!
But now I have to make up for the time lost, testing lots of recipes for both book and side business. I'm hoping to "go live" with my side business of baking primal, gluten-free goodies as of December 1st. And as I'll be on holiday the whole last week of November that leaves me *eeeeeek* only 2 weeks!

I thought about you often, but just don't much time to spend on forums nowadays. Those of you on Facebook who want to add me, just ask my name or send me yours in a private message! I'm on FB almost daily , although as Jenn says most of my postings are in Dutch . Google translate doesn't do too bad a job at translating though.
Col, as Judg says Afrikaans is indeed derived from Dutch; I have one Dutch friend who sometimes post things in Afrikaans on her wall (she has many friends in South Africa) and I can understand most of what she writes (and vice versa, her SA-friends seem to understand most of what she writes in Dutch).

OK, as I'm in the office I might have some time to go read some of your journals! I'll try write an update here regularly!

                        • I'm glad to hear that it was busy-ness keeping you away, and not your back. I was a little concerned that you were still in pain. Glad to know things are better for you, in lots of ways from the looks of things.

                          • Hey chica! Thanks for the links on my facebook conversation with Vicky. She's a fiesty one, but she isn't arguing with me about it... which is what I appreciate about her. I'm sure she won't convert or anything, but she won't argue it either.

                            Glad you're feeling better.

                              • Thanks for thinking of me girls

Yesterday we started thinking about our christmas menu (no, I don't believe, but it's tradition and it's a nice occasion to come together with the whole family). My part of the family (my parents, brother, sister and their partners and children - we'll be 8 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 children and 1 baby in total) comes to our house every year on the 24th. Then the 25th we go to my in-laws (my mom then invites her mom and aunt and my brother and his wife and kids, as they don't have to go to in-laws ).
It will be my first Primal christmas dinner . My SIL is a picky eater, so I try to keep that in mind (not making anything spicy *sigh* ). Meat will be this: http://candyinwonderland.wordpress.c...pork-shoulder/. Now we need to decide what we'll make for antipasti, first course, side dishes and dessert.
