Homemade mayonnaise without tears (Basics) | Just Hungry

This one has pictures of the process, maybe it will help. It also makes a LOT! I would half the recipe, if I was to make it, but I don't use much mayo.

Thanks for the link! I used the whole egg, not only the yolks, maybe that's why it just stayed a bit runny!
The 'Sin Chili con Carne' was absolutely fabulous! This is a recipe I'll be making more often .

This morning (and yesterday morning) I'm feeling a bit 'out of breath'. I wonder if maybe it's due to low iron levels because of my period? It only occurs in the morning and I start to feel better around this time (11am now). Maybe I just should have skipped breakfast, I wasn't even hungry. I'm still falling in that 'eating because it's time to eat' trap, should start listening more to my body before putting anything in my mouth because of 'habit'. This morning I made it thanks to routine though, I woke up with the news on the radio and that was just terrible : a bus full of (Belgian) children had an accident in Switzerland, 28 dead people (of which 22 children); they were returning home after being away on ski-trip with school. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, I was just so happy that my kids were home and gave them a big hug!

I usually make it with whole egg too. Maybe you poured the oil in too fast?

I saw that bit of news as well, so very sad.

I hate hearing about accidents that injure or kill children. It's so heartbreaking and unfair when children are taken from this earth because they didn't do anything wrong, you know? THEY didn't wreck the bus, why should they pay the cost? So sad. I feel terrible for the families and my heart goes out to them.

I haven't tried making mayo yet. I might attempt it this weekend if I have time. It seems we'll be out of the house all day on Saturday into Saturday evening. I hope I can keep my primal wits about me!!

Jenn, it was really a bad accident and it isn't know yet what caused it, there were no other cars involved. They're thinking 2 possibilities: something happened to the bus-driver or technical issue with the steering. The whole country is mourning the death of these kids, 12 year olds returning home (also the 2 bus drivers and some teachers died). What a sad day . My almost-12 yo son Lex will be going away with school for a week next month. Although they're only going to the Belgian coast (2 hour drive away from home) I try not to think about all that can happen. Well, it's stupid thinking that anyway, there's a higher risk of anyone getting hurt any day in daily traffic. Better not going there and just love and care for each other every day .

            My eating yesterday:
B: banana, raw cocoa nibs and coconut milk smoothie (no honey)
L: a slice of cooked ham, a few slices of smoked lamb (raw ham style) and a cup of coffee with full fat cream
D: vegetable soup (Brussels sprouts), leftover Sin chili con carne and purslane salad with mustard vinaigrette and bacon

This morning I only had a cup of coffee with coconut milk, not hungry yet. I'm going to get my nails done this morning and this afternoon I'm going to the hairdresser, bit of me-time today .

I'll be away from home from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon! I'm going to take some smoked salmon and canned tuna and lettuce with me for lunchtimes, as we'll have to eat what's prepared by others. I'm actually making desserts for Friday evening for the whole bunch (around 60 people, adults and kids!!). I'll be making non-primal desserts though :s although I'll try to make some as primal as possible . I'm making chocolate mousse (with 80% choc, full fat cream and honey - so a little primal), ricecakes and brownies.

Nice day today and the sun has been shining all day! So when I came home from the hairdresser I changed to T-shirt and shorts, had the kids change too and just went to the forrest with them. We ran, played hide-and-seek, jumped on-and-off little walls, ran some more and laughed a lot! We stayed out for an hour.
Dinner has been (slow)cooking all day in my oven: we're having rabbit with tomatoes, celery, onions and green olives. I'm going to roast some roots now as a side dish (Jerusalem artichoke, sweet potato and beetroot).

Preparing for the weekend today . I got up at 7am and started baking right away. I've made 2 rice cakes and 2 loads of brownies (non-primal though...first have to work out a good recipe and I don't have time for mistakes right now).
Now I'm going to make white and brown chocolate mousse.
Then it's time to prepare our luggage and around 5pm we'll be away for a weekend in Germany .

Didn't have breakfast today, still not hungry. I had a cup of coffee with some coconut milk.
Lunch will be bacon and eggs, I promised the kids .
Dinner is a big surprise, but I'll be prepared, I'm going to take some veggies and lettuce and smoked fish with me, so I'll have good things to eat (big chance there will be pasta tonight).

Being prepared is half the battle. Good for bringing your own food to supplement whatever is available. Hope you have a great weekend. We'll be waiting to hear how it went (fun- and food-wise).

I would LOVE to visit Germany! And Sweden, and basically, anywhere else in Europe! Sadly, I've only been out of the US for 3 hours and according to everyone I've spoken with about it, that doesn't count... lol

                        Enjoy your weekend!

Back home since yesterday evening, the weekend was great . We were about 50 people (children of all ages and adults) and had a really good time. We walked a lot, talked a lot and ate a lot . The desserts I made were a big success. The food was very much OK, I had my salad at lunch and at dinner there was meat and all kinds of veggies. I did have some chocolate mousse and 3 pieces of (non-paleo) brownies over the weekend, and I enjoyed every bit of it . I had a handful of (home made) french fries yesterday evening. But now it's back to business as normal .

Had coffee with some full fat cream for breakfast and I have an apple and some full fat Greek yogurt with me, if I get hungry I'll have that for breakfast.
Lunch today will be a salad with smoked salmon and avocado.

Sure thing! There was a playground where we stopped with the kids and I had a great time on it too . Oh, and I bought 'forest honey' from the German Eiffel forests (and got to taste 7 different kinds of honey too sooooo sweet!).
