ROFL! Yes, that's part of the price of motherhood. Sometimes they do appreciate it later, or at least get more charitable in their interpretation.

    • Yup, I go from being the wonderful person they love and adore, to that horrid person who makes them work and do things they don't like. Such is the life of a mom and esp the homeschooling mom Glad you are getting things worked out... and I love the look of that cake. May just have to try it for my birthday coming up

My DS3 just asked me if he could have another piece (he's usually really picky and doesn't like nuts and dates - he doesn't know they're in the cake) and was really disappointed that we have left the cake at my mom's place (good thing too, I don't know if I would have been able to stay away from it )
Just tried to "pin" it but it wouldn't allow me to use the image for some reason. What's with everybody and the awesome recipe recommendations lately? So many things to try ...

        • Ah yes, putting the ball in someone else's court at least gives you some time to not worry about making a move.

I noticed too yesterday, it seems that if I upload pictures using flickr it won't allow to pin them . I'm looking into this and will try to fix it asap.

            • Uploading pictures to google+ with picasa and then embedding them in my blog makes them "pinable" . I've replaced some of the pictures, will do all of them later.
If you're looking for the ones that can be pinned, I pinned them to My recipes

Spending money lately , we finally sold DH's car this week (he has a company car now) and are using the budget for our outdoor kitchen (see above) and today we ordered a recycled teak garden table and (3m long) and 10 aluminum chairs. There's still some money left and I caught DH at the pc looking up tablet pc's and reviews - I might get an iPad! I asked for an eReader but that's even better .

I'm in love with my slowcooker! Made pork ribs in the slowcooker today, they were fabulous! Had them with romaine lettuce wraps, homemade guacamole and a BAS. I bought "Eat like a Dinosaur" from the paleoparents last week and made ketchup. I also made applesauce muffins for the kids to have as a dessert, but instead of filling them with applesauce I filled them with homemade "nutella" (primal recipe). DS3 (very picky eater, doesn't like applesauce, loves chocolate) loves them.

It probably has to do with Flickr privacy settings. Pinterest has the the right to use any photo you post, so a lot of websites try to protect you from that.

                      • Oh yeah?! Well I'm getting iPhone soon from work! Technology is not my first priority when it comes to spending money, so I usually wait until the last second to update. Nice because my last two smartphones have been free - one from winning a raffle and the other from work. Pretty cool. My editor said something about possibly getting an iPad as well, but I don't know what I'd specifically use it for other than using our publication's own app.

                            • So, first hours of homeschooling went really well. I made sure I told DS1 several times how proud I am, he's been working well on the tasks I had prepared. He's on a break now, watching Jersey Shore (OMG I don't understand how anyone can watch that BS, but he loves it). I'm allowing him to do things he loves on the breaks and hope this will stimulate him.

I've planned a first "field trip" on Thursday already . I have an appointment with the school were he'll be going (hopefully) as of September, we're going to inscribe him there on Thursday. This school is just a few minutes walk away from a new museum in Antwerp (the MAS), the museum has been there one year now, and I've never been there yet. There is a whole floor dedicated to the port of Antwerp (from when it was just a small colony until today) and we'll be visiting that. It's history, geography and art all in one .

Food & Weight (CFA Summer Challenge): I'm doing fine, still tracking everything I eat in paleotrack. The inital 1.5 kg came off easily but I'm stalling right now. I hope to loose another 5 kg, will have to see what I can do to push the weight loss again.
I'm quite constipated the last weeks . But at least the hairloss is much much less now.

Hair update: I'm at 3.5 weeks since the last poo-wash and I'm now able to keep my hair down again, no need for ponytails anymore! It's feeling almost as soft as it was before going poo-less!

                              • Wish I could go to the museum with you guys. Sounds like a lot of fun:-)

Wonder if congee would help the pooless situation a bit. It's basically white rice soaked overnight and then cooked with a lot of water. It becomes very very soft (I'm thinking 1/2 cup rice to at least 4 cups water), and you add a few vegies -- spinach, onions, whatever you like -- all very well cooked. Seasoning is fine. It's an Asian tradition and seems to work very well. It is the shedding time of year, so some of that hair loss could be natural:-) Probably see a lot of new growth coming in at the same time.

So glad you're working with DS1 and doing homeschooling. It is a wonderful, bonding experience. I'm on my youngests' (almost 19) last year, and I'm going to miss it.

                                Have a super day!
