  • LOL! Well, I'm sure today was not normal. But you can see why I never tried to become a good baker. All that stuff sounded wonderful.

We do that too. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday my sister and I walk at night (just a mile) and the kids tag along. If he gets green, we go to the park and play for a half hour. If no green, no park. We also do other things - like staying up a half hour later if he gets green, doing special things, watching special shows. Like tonight, if he gets green, he'll get to watch WWE wrestling with his dad and stay up til 9 pm. We won't go to the park b/c it's cold today, but if it wasn't, he'd get to play at the park too.

His behavior runs in cycles and we're charting them to see what that cycle is to see if there's anything triggering his poor behavior or if it's just him being a young boy.

        • Candy- Wow! I just saw your pictures over on Longing's journal. The difference in your waist is amazing! (Well, I guess after 23 kgs, it would be.) Do you know what the reduction in inches is? What a pretty figure and face you have. A piece of eye-Candy, indeed! Have fun tomorrow.

              • Thanks girls, you make me blush . I do think I look ok now, my relationship with the mirror is a lot better lately .
@Sabine: I didn't measure, but the difference is A LOT!

Yesterday turned out great, we didn't get any rain at all and in the afternoon we even had sun and nice temperatures! The kids had lots of fun. I'm always appalled to see how much candy and junk these kids have with them . It's also hard to walk around in these theme parks and having junk food for sale every 10 steps you take. I have caved for a few french fries I bought for my youngest son (hey, all the other kids were having all sorts of junk all day, I just couldn't say no to everything for the kid; I thought french fries were the best option considering the alternatives: hot dogs, bright pink cotton candy, all kinds of processed stuff). What I ate yesterday:
B: coffee an 4 tbsp of whipped cream (I just finished the bowl)
L: leftover roasted sweet potato and parsnips with steamed mixed greens (spinach, broccoli, sugar snap peas, asparagus) and 4 hardboiled eggs
S: few french fries, small bar of dark chocolate (74%), few brazil, pecan and macadamia nuts
D (at home, DH cooked): broccoli-soup, turkey-breast and fennel-orange salad

As of today it's "back to basics" for 45 days!

                • Basics is a good place to be.

I agree about junk food everywhere we go. It's so frustrating and makes it difficult to follow a healthy lifestyle.

                  • I used to hate to take my kids to the county fair because of all the junk they wanted!! So I would stuff them at home and they were allowed one single treat!! And it usually worked.. Except for the puking from being stuffed that ensued a few times (oopsie)... But I always convinced them it was the junk food:-)!!

                    • Yesterday was a busy day, didn't have time to come over here!
Today was supposed to be a busy day too, as I had planned to do a "dry run" of my exam, but when I got up this morning I was feeling tired and just kind of "bleh"; then I went to the toilet and immediately knew why I wasn't feeling too well (yup, it's that TOM again). Decided to postpone the "dry run" to Sunday and have a quite day instead. I only made bread (sourdough spelt bread, enough for a whole week) for DH and sons and marinated the shrimp for tonight's dinner so far. I'll make some "primal nutella" (for the kids) this afternoon and get the veggies ready for dinner too. And I'm planning to go for a long walk with DS2 and DS3 when they come home from school.

So we're doing this Summer challenge at our CrossFit gym: it's not really paleo, as they do allow some rice and oatmeal, but I'm not going to eat that anyway. But the dietitian who was explaining the foods was stressing the importance of breakfast and he says eating more meals per day (like 6 or 7!) would be better? I tried to have breakfast yesterday, but it just doesn't feel good anymore . It just made me feel hungry and wanting to eat/nibble ALL DAY*sigh*. Can anyone around here give me 1 GOOD reason why I should eat breakfast? If not, I'll just skip it again (I do have coffee with coconut cream).

                      Yesterday's eats:
B: sheep yogurt (150gr) with 1/2C raspberries, coffee
                      S: 4 small brazil nuts
L: salad with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, olive oil & vinegar and a little sheep cheese
                      S: 1 apple, 1 hardboiled egg
D: bell peppers stuffed with ground pork and beef (organic), purple and yellow carrots and sweet potatoes smothered in a little butter

                      Yesterday my ratios were:
                      1555 calories
                      63 gr protein (16%)
                      112 gr carbs (28%)
                      100 gr fat (56%)

Does anyone know if this is ok? I'm doing my best to get more carbs in (75 - 100 gr), as I'm still losing a lot of hair .

                      • Any time you are eating after a sleep cycle is 'break-fast'. If you choose to delay that for several hours, it is still breakfast. (If you want some way to say you are still eating breakfast. No need to go into WHEN you eat it!) But really, 6-7 meals a day? That's for sugar-burners. I'm with you- I can no longer do it if I am eating more protein and fats.

                        • I second what Sabine says: 6-7 meals a day is for sugar-burners, to avoid the blood sugar highs and lows. Ignore him. You're operating in a different paradigm. That for me has been one of the great advantages of primal, smoothing out the highs and lows. I hated eating all those mini-meals. So much more fun, and so much easier, to eat a hearty meal and get fully satisfied. I'd rather do that and have bigger gaps inbetween.

                          • I shudder at the thought of eating on any schedule ever again! It's so much easier to eat when I am hungry and skip meals when I am not. My natural schedule seems to be meal 1 early after noon and meal two divided by early evening and a few hours later!
The most important thing for me is getting my food list prepared and staying within the lines!!

                              • Candy your carb numbers look great!! Are you lsoing with your fat grams being that high though?? I had to lower my fat grams and up my protein to kick my weight loss into gear. The higher fat was not working for me at all..I answered your question in my journal about the hairloss but the gist is there are a few threads here about hairloss and LC and I googled and found a million links for it.. The lowcarb though was like anything under 50grams and I was 20 or less for months.. (And never could lose weight ) as soon as I got back to the 75gram range poof no more hair loss!! Like magic!!
