    • So I went to the farmer's market and there was a girl selling bread. I told her I don't eat wheat and she said "this is made with all purpose flour." I said "yeah, I don't eat wheat." Her response "this isn't wheat. It's made with white flour." Ok... walking away now... dumb!

        • Love these people. I once was at the farmer's market here and a man was selling sausage. I asked him if he used MSG in his sausage in a very friendly manner, explaining it give me migraines. He literally started screaming at me, yelling "you can't buy sausage without MSG anywhere!" I almost went straight to W.F's. to get some without MSG and return and show it to him, but WTF! I've found it best not to buy at farmer's markets as it's pretty risky. I like to be sure my vegetables and fruits are organic. When you see these perfectly formed fruits and vegies up here in the northwest at a farmer's market, you gotta' question their oranicisity!

          • Yeah... sadly she looked rather intelligent! I did buy a bar of soap made with herbs this couple grew. It's a chocolate mint soap bar! Made with oils and herbs. i'm excited to try it. They also infuse their herbs into olive oil. I'm excited to try that as a salad dressing.

Sadly, b/c I live in Iowa, there were no produce stands yet. Just people selling plants and (wheat-free) white flour bread (lol).

              • Ugh... I just ate breakfast and I don't know if I'm eating too much or what the scoop is but I feel like I could hurl.

                Breakfast:
                2 sausage patties
                3 boiled eggs
                vitamins
                salt flush

I am really excited for my son. He is starting the Latchkey program in a couple of weeks. I learned that they will take him to and from swimming lessons (the pool is just across the street), so I signed him up for all four 2-week sessions of swimming lessons. He'll swim everyday from June 4th to July 27th for 45 minutes a day. He'll love that. Since he's not afraid of water and sticks his head under the water and all that, they're putting him in level 2 to start and we'll move up from there if he passes the lessons. The kid's going to grow gills before the summer is out! lol

I was on facebook last night and saw a friend complaining about hating skim milk. I told her Primal would be right up her alley then since it's recommends whole milk (I didn't mention the raw part of it b/c 1, it's not available in stores and 2, I didn't want to get all hippy on her). She asked for more information so I sent her the link to MDA. She forwarded said link via Facebook to her dad. She's excited to look into it further. Another friend was interested a few nights ago, but I haven't talked to her since so I don't know if she's going to give it a go or not. Two other friends inquired as well a few days ago. Dr. Torture and I were discussing that on Monday. She's been paleo for 2 years and has been trying to spread the word, but she didn't have a ton of weight to lose either so I think that's why no one gave her comments much attention. I post that I've lost x number of lbs and x number of inches and people get interested it seems. I love it that people are coming around. Get rid of that garbage food. Get rid of those fancy mail-order meals and shakes. All you need is REAL food - no extra money required! Just go grocery shopping and you can lose the weight you want to lose. Of course, the catch is that you have to give up grains and what-not but it's do-able... we've all proven that.

I'm still retaining a bit of water or something from my weekend binge fest... 209 on the scale this morning. Bastard scale.

Ugh, seriously, my body is unhappy right now. I feel like I'm stuffed so full that I have food hanging out just under my throat... maybe I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was...

Aside from the upset tummy, I'm feeling pretty refreshed today. I woke up easily, but chose to continue sleeping anyway. We have opened the blinds in our bedroom so light spills in each morning when the alarm goes off. I still get up and reset it. Eventually the sunlight will be enough to get me up, but then it'll be wintertime and I won't have sunlight. I've noticed that by changing my hours from 7:30 to 4:30 with an hour lunch to 8:00 to 4:30 with a half hour lunch, I'm getting to work at a more appropriate time and I'm not having as many rushed "Oh chit, i'm up too late to take a shower" days. Of course, this morning was rough b/c Mommy was crabby and everyone else was whiney and needy... but now I'm at work and I'm in a better place mentally.

I'm also feeling skinnier today. This could be because my size 16 jeans are only being held up by my hips now... My shirt is long so I don't care that they're "falling" down. Once this water weight is shed, I should feel even skinnier!

I suppose. It's cold in my office (one of the guys has his danged window open!!) and I gotta potty, so I think I'll take the trek up to the 4th floor and go potty. I'll be glad when the bathroom remodels are done so a bathroom trip doesn't take 20 minutes... but the exercise is nice.

                • This is how today shakes out. Not sure if I'll be able to maintain the deficit of 8 carbs or not... I'm hoping the sweet potatoes and extra meat will be enough to keep me from craving my evening berries and cream...

                    • YAY!! I followed my plan last night! I didn't have any berries or coconut or chocolate! I did however, have a few bites of DH's sauteed white potatoes (I chopped them up and sauteed them in coconut oil). I think I had maybe 8 little cubes of white potato. It helps that I ate a huge amount of pork chop. And consequently, I also fell asleep on the couch (as did DH). I think that was the biggest factor in why I didn't have any berries. Woke up at 3:15 am when DD started fussing. Woke DH up and said "Hey, let's go to bed!" and realized DS was curled up in the recliner. Took him back to bed as well. Then I couldn't fall back to sleep. FRUSTRATING! Managed to at some point because the next thing I knew, DH was waking me to say bye on his way out the door for work. BUT... no berries. SUCCESS! lol

                      Today is looking like this:

                      B:
                      2 sausage patties
                      3 boiled eggs
                      Salt flush
                      vitamins

                      L:
rabbit food - prolly a small iceberg salad with some veggies/eggs

                      D:
baked cod with Chef Paul's seafood seasoning (OMGee that stuff is yummo!) precooked in butter
prolly some squash in coconut oil (may try to "bread" them with something since DH likes fried zuchini (sp??))
                      frozen veggie of some sort

I finally broke down and admitted that I need new bras. The ones I wear are 5 years old (I wore them during my pregnancy with DS) but they're so comfy. Unfortunately, they're so comfy that they no longer do their job and that makes me look "unsexy". I put on a couple of bras I had stuffed in the back of my drawer today. Realized I can no longer wear a 38D... I need something more like a 40DD. At what point will my boobs start shrinking??? I don't wanna spend a huge amount of money on some really good really expensive bras if my cans are just gonna shrink in a week, ya know? I also learned that I hate underwires and have to get used to them again... and this bra makes my boobs look funny. i look down and they're separated and kind of pointy... I feel like Madonna in the cone bra!

At 10 I have a meeting for a celebration they're holding on post. I'm supposed to have a role in the planning but so far the only thing I've done is take notes at the meeting. Irritating and a complete waste of my time. I think I might resign b/c this is stupid. I'd rather have no part in it than only be the notetaker for their meetings. Might talk to my boss about it this afternoon. She's the one that told them they had to give me a role if they wanted me to be a part of it (they asked me to take the notes), and they agreed to let me help with the display booths, but I have been given ZERO tasks related to the booths, despite asking if there was anything I could do. If something doesn't get tasked to me by this time next week, I'll resign the "committee".

Given that meeting in an hour, I should probably eat my breakfast so I don't get stranded with no food and a loud growling tummy. I'm not hungry yet and don't feel any inkling that hunger could be coming, but I don't want to end up ravenous either b/c when I get ravenous, I make poor choices and there's a cafeteria on my way to and from the meeting location... yeah, better eat or I'll end up buying a large cookie or something. The one benefit of this committee and the meetings is that I walk a half mile to the meeting and a half mile back.

I hope everyone has a good day.

                      • So much fun shrinking out of clothes, isn't it? I don't think they make anything but expensive bras in those bigger sizes (I could never find any) but if you keep your eyes open for specials, you could pick up a couple at half price or better. I don't know how it is in the States, but Sears here has 50% sales on quality bras pretty much every month. You might check Goodwill too; I've been told that their bras are brand new - donated by stores for the tax write-off. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Hope your tummy is better today.

                          • Ugh, I just finished typing up a new post and then accidentally closed the page b/c I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing... *sigh* And I don't want to rehash all the hash I just hashed... so I'll just talk about the minor decision I have to make and hope y'all will give me some feedback.

I signed up for a half marathon a while back and then later decided I wasn't going to do it (about the time I discovered Primal and decided to follow the letter of the law). Today I got an email reminding me of my upcoming race... and now I want to do it again. I miss half marathon running... But, this urge will go away. I just have to remember that I'm working on my health right now and running that distance will not benefit my current goals. I could walk it, but that'll take me 3 1/2 hours to do, plus the hour drive there and back... that's a 5 1/2 hour investment. Starting at 5:30 am... eh, not sure I'm interested anymore. lol I could be back in time to take a nap before we have to leave to watch DH race, but... nah... I think I'll pass and stick to my current goals. I can race half marathons next year when I'm considerably lighter and in better shape. *sigh* I just got an email back from the promoter indicating that there is no time limit and they expect some participants to take longer than 3 hours - maybe I'll talk to DH about it and just walk it. It is very primal to walk 3 hours, afterall. Plus, I'll get a medal and a tshirt out of the deal. Yeah, I'll talk to DH and see what he thinks.

But what do you guys think? Should I do it? Or should I pass? What would YOU do?

                            • So, I have recently noticed some bumps on my forearms that look like little zits but aren't. I found a thread on here about keratosis pilaris and how the primal/paleo diets are supposed to clear it up... it hasn't yet. Gluten obviously wasn't the problem b/c it hasn't gotten any better. Only other thing I can think of is dairy... but, before I give up dairy, I'm going to try body brushing.

I'm stopping by walgreens tonight to get some Dr. Scholl's Fast Flats, so I'll grab a body brush too and start working on my arms and legs. Y'all say it feels great so I'm gonna take your word for it and try it out.

What should I do about my feet? They're kinda calloused from all my running. DS calls them "itchy" b/c they scratch his hands. lol

                              • I think you should walk it. It will still be a half-marathon, only slower than you are used to. And it would be a great way to throw a surprise at your body: they get used to things, just like our brains do. Then have a splendid feast afterwards! (Primal, no Mountain Dew!)
