  • You're right on that, Judg. Anymore, unless I know the person is receptive, I won't breathe a word about what I'm doing to lose weight/get healthy. This gal I knew would be receptive so I shared with her.

Today is a feel-good day. I'm feeling happy and pumped full of energy. Which is good b/c this evening I have a date with my sister to marathon clean my house in case we have a birthday party there on Sunday... Need that energy! How we're going to clean up after 2 kids with 4 kids in the house is beyond me... lol Hopefully it's not raining so we can send them outside!!

I've done a bit of research and think I might research some serious iodine supplementation today. A post on someone else's thread had a link to www.womentowomen.com where I took an adrenal self-assessment and a thyroid self-assessement and both came back poorly. Adrenal function was said to be moderately dysfunctional and thyroid was moderate to severe. I am thinking about supplementing with iodine and seeing if that will help. In July I go to the doctor for my yearly, so I will ask her to run a thyroid panel then if I don't feel I've made any headway with iodine. I am also increasing my carb consumption since everyone seems to have thyroid issues when going VLC. I'm not sure if I'm VLC or not, but I'm going to be tracking carb consumption to be sure I stay within the 50-75g per day window.

I'm hoping I can get my weight loss going a bit faster. Right now I'm at about 1 lb per week, and I'd like it it to be a bit faster than that. 1 lb per week will take 2 years to lose 80 lbs and I don't want to wait that long. I'm in no real hurry to lose weight, but I don't want it to take forever either.

    Food plan:

    B: 9:00
    vitamins
    2 sausage patties
    3 boiled eggs

    S: Handful of almonds

    D: 7:00
Unknown at this time... want to make scalloped potatoes and ham, but I don't know that time will allow with the marathon cleaning we're doing tonight for the party on Sunday.

    Activity: marathon cleaning/decluttering

I hope everyone is having a good day so far. I have quite a few journals to catch up on. You people were busy last night!! lol

    • The advantage of losing more slowly is that it gives time for your skin to shrink back better. Well, one of the advantages. You also get to stretch the compliments out over several years, LOL! I think one pound a week is fast, myself. I've never managed it. I wanted to lose weight faster, but I haven't and it really isn't the end of the world. I suspect it stays off better the slower you lose it too.

Ha! Stretching the compliments over time - I like that . Honestly the skin getting a chance to slowly transition is a big plus of losing slowly. It's funny how I would still take quick weight loss if it were an option, though!

Yeah, we are impatient, aren't we? I would be absolutely thrilled with a pound a week, myself. Then I'd be done by fall, and I could buy clothes that fit me well and will stay that way.

Eat fruit! Or veggies! (Not to be misconstrued as medical or dietary advice, heh. Don't want to get charged with practicing nutrition without a license.)

I don't have a worthy source for either of those at the present time. Only option I have is the vending machine and I'm avoiding it like the plague b/c I know there won't be anything suitable for anyone in there. Just biding my time before I go home and I'll gorge myself on fresh green beans or something.

              • mmm green beans... why did I have to think of them? lol

Oh, and I can't leave my office b/c I have some classified information in here and it has to be safeguarded until it's placed in the safe, or i have to take it with me... I don't want to put it in the safe b/c I'll likely forget I did and then the person who needs it won't get it...

So I sit at my desk. Dreaming of fresh, uncooked green beans... mmm

                  • LOL~stop that!!hahaha... I am trying to take a pass on bacon for awhile and then reintroduce as a treat occasionally.. I definately think that for people like us that got down to almost carbless (why aren't we walking beanpoles???) that it will take some conscious planning to get carbs back in. I had the hardest time yesterday and I have had to fiddle several times with my food journal today to get to the 50's!!! But I did learn an alrarming fact about my affair with butter and all things fat This is so sad Jenn. I am a fat addict.. I am to the tune of 100's of calories in a setting with just fats.. Like for example, there is 1600 fat calories from the oo in the mayo I make and me and DH could consume the entire batch in one sitting and I usually ate the most of it Shameful I say.

Now that I am measuring things I am like really thats 2 T of butter, well I be damned. OH MY GOD what a fat hog I have been. The funny thing is how I never felt full doing that(???) but now I am adding more veggies and less fat and upping carbs and I fell saitiated finally..

Also I think the article I read about women over 35 not getting enough enzymes might be spot on so I am adding a little juicing in everyday also..

                    • I commented on that post in your journal.

I found it amazing that I haven't had carbs yet today... and I've done this every day for like a week and a half! Not sure how to correct it without starting to eat lunch again. I eat sausage links and boiled eggs every day for the convenience factor. And that usually fills me up til dinner. Guess I'll have to find some frozen veggies to stash at work. It'll be hard to mix spinach in with my eggs when they're already cooked! lol

Tomorrow morning I think I'm going to make breakfast lasagna. Cream cheese pancakes make the "pasta" of the lasanga, layer with sausage links and scrambled eggs and cheese. Yum!! We've only had it once, it serves 4 and is so dang filling! DH was like "That's all I get" and he could barely finish it. lol

Tonight I'm gonna make the scalloped potatoes and ham for dinner. Sister can be cleaning a bathroom or something while I'm prepping it. (She laid claims to cleaning the bathroom and kitchen - odd, I know). I gotta have this dish. it's been entirely too long since I didn't want to use flour or cornstarch. But tapioca starch will work JUST fine.

*sigh* anohter half hour til I get to head home...

                          • You've reminded me, I used to have spinach salad with bacon, hard-boiled eggs, and hor dressing for breakfast all the time. Must try it again soon.

                            • Hey ladies. I tried something new tonight. Coconut bliss ice cream by the suggestion of Lex. Um, it's yummy. The coconut flavor seems watered down (that's what I think coconut milk tastes like - watered down coconut), but it was really yummy mixing the coconut flavor with cherry. Yum. The stuff is expensive though. $8 for a pint!!! Eeek!

Also picked up some iodine tablets and some celtic sea salt. Starting my regimen tomorrow. The iodine dosage is 2.5 mg. Shall see how things go after a while on this new approach.

Getting some thunderstorm activity around here. Happy about that. Could really go for a nice loud storm.

                              • But I'm guessing you're glad it's expensive, right? Ugh, I love the Mint Galactica one. I haven't had that in over a year, but my birthday is on Thursday and I'm thinkin I might want some again.
