Last night had some great Rump Roast for dinner with a Salad. Yum! Our kids (10, 7, 4, 2) ate TONS, which is good because they are all too skinny.
We are realizing that while our grass-fed Coriante beef it GOOD, we probably would have preferred to get the more fatty Angus - so next time we'll definitely do that.
After dinner did some pull ups, pushups, L-sits and a few other random things... Nothing too crazy and probably not even enough - but it felt good.
Today we have another work lunch - we are going to Stockmens Steakhouse so at least I know they will have something for me!
After work we are meeting up with my crazy ultramarathoner brother so that we can get some running done in preparation for the RAGNAR RELAY in June and a few other races that may be happening before them. Running Race season is a lot of fun! I've got a lot of potential events coming up!
"Lunch Steak: Twin filets of petite tender, wrapped in bacon." + Salad Bar
Steaks come with a side of fries.
Tried a couple of fries and they just weren't worth it! About 8 oz of Steak with bacon around the side - it was quite tasty even though I asked for Medium Rare and really got Medium Well - well-done. I usually am pretty happy with steak no matter what... like I'm not going to send it back - but it is still a bit surprising how bad they are off lately!
Also just like yesterday after eating out - I did not feel even close to full. I personally am not one that feels the need to be full, as I think it is a weakness in our culture that we feel the need to eat to satiation every meal. You don't. But I wasn't even CLOSE. I didn't need more food necessarily - but still felt that hunger in my belly, not just wanting to eat more for the taste, if that makes sense.
Ran 3 miles with my younger brother in the mountains above his house. It was starting to get dark so we kept it short and quick - 3 miles in 32 minutes starting at 4,850 elev and peaking at over 5250 ft. Starting right on the meanest uphill too... Could have used a warmup for sure!
Went back to his house where my amazing wife made delicious bacon wrapped chicken and salad and brussell sprouts!
Ended the night with tea sweetened with freshly bought local honey. Wow! that stuff packs a kick! Hopefully it'll help with my allergies some.
Tomorrow I'm supposed to do crossfit - we'll see how that goes!
Trainer wasn't here today - guess he's doing RKC Kettlebell recertification or something up in Seattle.
So the 3 of us that were there decided to do the "Cindy" Benchmark.
I didn't do as good as I normally can - my best is 18 rounds. Today I did 14... but with my bad counting it very well could have been 13, but it also could have been 17! Still good hard fast workout. I like those.
"Cindy," if you don't know or needed a refresher, is a 20 minute AMRAP (As Many Rounds as Possible) where you do:
5 Pull Ups
10 Push Ups
I like the simplicity - and the only thing it is missing from the PEM's is a plank. Maybe I'll do that when I get home.
SORE today from yesterday pullups pushups and squats!
Went for a 'run' with my 10 and 7 year old boys today - next week we are doing a family fun run thing with relatives so we figured we'd show them that they were able to do it if they wanted to. They learned about sprinting and proper form (their shoes didn't help too much with that... and they didn't quite get it either) and found that they could definitely do a 5k if they wanted. If not for my 10 year old we could have done it 10 minutes faster though. My younger boy stayed WAY in front of us!
To be perfectly honest I find the title of your journal to be slightly misleading.
I was expecting a lot more HACK! and SLASH! Or perhaps some Slice and Dice. Maybe the odd recruitment of a child soldier for the purpose of waging guerrilla warfare on the subcontinent.
And yet here we are...with yoga even.
Well, not all is lost. There is still time. You are on the Path of Murder, tasty tasty Murder. So perhaps there's hope for you yet. Red Meat!
Sadly my days of warmongering and slicing my way through swaths of enemies has dropped off considerably since I became a husband and father - but at least I can still HACK! and SLASH! through a bloody steak or tear a chicken limb from limb (rotisserie) to hand juicy hunks of meat to my ravenous offspring...
Still at times it brings a tear to my eye to remember the good ol' days...
Hopefully someday a hunting season will come and I'll find a way to wage guerrilla warfare on that nefarious species of deer that threaten to overtake this world. Partially an excuse to buy a big gun is all I'm really looking for here, but that's beside the point.
Yoga clears the mind! It strengthens and stretches the body and spirit, bringing awareness and confidence to a man who is slowly losing his identity in today's society. Also - I get free yoga (and crossfit) classes at work so I might as well take advantage of it to take a break from the definitely not-Primal nor Adventures life at a desk job!
Starting with the time change this weekend - I definitely didn't get enough sleep.
At work I had 7 different meetings back to back (thankfully yoga was one of those, but it made me late to the next meeting)
After work I decided I needed to take advantage of the sunshine and go for a run in the mountains. I took a wrong turn up a road to get into the mountains and ended on the wrong trail - so I went off the trails and braved the rocks and sage brush (which I'm quite allergic to) and charging deer to find my way to where I needed to be. Ended up going 3.11 miles carrying a couple of big rocks to throw at various obstacles and animals (usually they got away, but I wasn't planning on eating them... today)
It felt great to not have the sky be completely dark after work - so in that way I'm happy the time has gone to Daylight Savings. But it doesn't feel like it should be this late so my sleep will be more messed up than its usual messeduppedness.
Pullups, 21s, Curls, Shoulder Press - Threw in a few of those as well. Good day other than all the freakin' meetings!
