  • I'm going to private message Lex and PrimalCajun. I think they are most likely to have her info.

    Update:
PrimalCajun says she's fine, just not posting now. Hopefully, we'll hear from her soon.

    • I know what you mean about seeing fasting as a welcome break from eating. I hope to get there relatively soon again.

      • Into the trash it goes!

There was an INCIDENT with nuts yesterday. I have decided the splenda is to blame, so this morning I emptied my two LARGE tupperware containers of it into the trash. It is just not worth it. I will get used to minimally sweet cinnamon nuts.

        Here's what happened:

        Up at 4:45(dogs!)
        Vitamins

        10:00 1 1/2 chicken legs (dry)
        1C mixed greens
        3 jicama slices with
        spinach-cheese dip
        1 brazil nut

        1:30 1/2C cinnamon-splends pecans
1/4 lb ground beef and pork
        5 mushrooms
        2oz cheddar

        1/2C pecans
        1 square dark chocolate

        4:30 3 squares dark chocolate
        more nuts
        spinach dip in romaine leaves
        more nuts
        1 1/2 oz blue cheese
        oh my goodness, MORE nuts

        6:45 2oz steak
        3oz sweet potato
        caesar salad with
        avocado

        Water: 9 glasses
        Walking: 40 minutes

        Bed at 10:00

At least my falalfel induced gas is gone. Small mercies. I'll take 'em!

Today is sashimi day. For those of you keeping score at home, last week when I had sashimi, there was NO creme brulee involved. Will it happen again this week? Stay tuned.

          • Oh yes, even slightly sweet nuts will send me off the deep end - if you add in salt, watch out. Actually that is everything the human body craves in one tiny package - sugar, salt, fat.

I think you have all seen Pam posted on her thread - she has been busy with a happy real life, which is the finest reason for not posting.

I should post this on my own thread instead of hijacking yours, but I am strangely reluctant to eat although I am a bit hungry. Been that way all day. Earlier I did eat a fairly light breakfast, but now it is 4:30 in the afternoon.

            • Vicious attack!

              Well, things have changed.

While doing yard work this morning, I was stung. Three times.

To understand my reaction to this, you should know that the first time I was stung by a bee, my foot swelled up so much and so quickly that my skin split open. I was weeping from the pain. Subsequent stings have had less violent reactions, but still, pretty bad. Much pain and swelling.

I was pretty pleased with how I handled myself after the first sting. Zipped inside, started icing it, took benadryl and aspirin at once, and no actual tears (maybe a few almost ones). I soaked my foot in vinegar, as per my beekeeper friend. After an hour, I felt like I could hobble around a bit, so I went outside to collect my tools and haul out the last pile of trimmings to the curb.

That's when I discovered that it was probably a wasp, not a bee. Two more stings, this time, courtesy of having flown up my shorts, on my rear. If there was anyone in the alley they got an eyeful, as I tore off my shorts and panties, to swat away the critter.

Let me tell you, there is just no practical way to soak your rear in vinegar.

Since then, it has been very painful. Steady pain all the time, with bizarre little throbs, that have me grimacing or saying THINGS. But knowing it was probably a wasp the first time, too, makes me feel calmer. Perhaps the swelling will not be as bad.

I still went out for lunch with Middlest. No creme brulee was eaten, mostly because I gave myself permission to eat WHATEVER this afternoon, as I recline here, nursing my injuries. The huge bowl of ice cream I am indulging in right now, tastes wonderful. And there will be chocolate truffles later if I want. As many as I want.

All bets are off once stinging insects enter the picture.

And that is as it should be.

Ask if you can have a side of veggies or salad instead.

I'm so sorry about your stings
                  But this made me laugh

                    • I like your list! We should all make them.

OUCH on the stings! You might try soaking a towel in vinegar and applying that to your rear. Personally, I would start drinking heavily.

                        • Off for another weekend of fun!

The drinking is a good idea. Unluckily, the only alcohol I have in the house is my vanilla. Don't know if I can handle shots of that. Maybe someone will bring something for the retreat!

My eating yesterday was surprising. I've already packed my journal, so i can't do the blow by blow, but it went something like this:

                          Sashimi!
                          No creme brulee!

                          Ice cream!
                          Truffles!
                          More ice cream!

And yet, there is still more than half the carton of ice cream left. And I only had one round of truffles. And they were distinct EVENTS, not little nibbles all day long. I don't dare to call it a success, but I WILL call it normal behavior.

While I am off this weekend, my honey is charged with ANNIHILATING any wasps and nests in the backyard.

                          Talk to y'all on Monday!

                          • Wasps are no fun. I put my hand on one once and it stung me. Mom promptly pumped me full of benedryl.

Baking soda and water in a paste is supposed to help, as is putting a fresh cut onion on the sting. Pasty mud is supposed to be helpful as well.

Did the stingers pull out or are they still under your skin? Might be the reason for the continued pain.

I hope you feel better soon and that Hubby gets all those stinging buggers outta there.

                              • Hello, Monday!

I'm back from my retreat, and I had a marvelous time.

Much fun with my friends, and I got two quilt tops completed. Christmas ones for my kids. I also did some knitting and piecing of more blocks. Lots of talking and laughing. One night of staying up late, otherwise I went to bed on time. Amazing. Ate primally except for the MASSIVE amounts of chocolate (all dark, so that's not so bad, right?) and some Girl Scout cookies after I got home. We had a nice meat and veg dinner of Mongolian stir-fry for Father's Day dinner, and today I am starting my planned fast. My body is looking forward to it.

My sting spots are still present and aggravating, but much better than last week. I hope to have them gone by the end of this week. The one on the toe is the worst. There is just not enough space for your toes to expand, I guess. It is very tight and painful. The ones on my tush...well, there's plenty of fat there to soak up any poison and space for the skin to expand, that's all I'm saying.

Had half a pound of oyster mushrooms from a local farmer's market over the weekend, fried up and eaten with homemade beef stew for Sunday breakfast. Delightful.

Did not drink enough water, as I was sitting a lot and out of my usual routine. I can definitely feel it. With the start of my fast, though, I should have no trouble re-hydrating.

Okay, off to catch up on journals. Hope y'all have been well.
