  • Nice result! I'm not sure I could fast like that. My brain still controls my hunger rather than my body.

    • I am hemming a prom dress. Silk chiffon. Three hours, and I am half way around.

      AAARRRGGHHHHH!

      • honestly, that I would have paid someone else to do!

Hey, things could be worse though, My daughter ordered her prom dress and it didn't arrive in time. She borrowed a dress from a friend who went to a different school. It actually looked way better on her than the one we ordered, but we had to use double sided tape to keep it from gaping at the sweet heart neckline! She got to wear the one she ordered to her final Orchestra concert though.

            • Funny you mention carnitas...I picked up a pork butt this weekend with that intent and then made some for lunch. Could have used more oven time, but the natives were hungry. Still really good!

                • The day of much hemming

Seven and a half hours of it.

I'll just let you contemplate that for a moment.

Today I do the lining, but it is not as full, circumference-wise, and can be done on the machine. I estimate one hour. Then I will make little roses out of the trimmed chiffon and put them on combs for Middlest to wear in her hair.

                  Then I will be done.

Yesterday I felt kind of hungry during my Down Day. Perhaps in reaction to the boredom of hemming. Did I mention...7 1/2 HOURS!

I only succumbed to one extra, though, and kept my calories to the 420 limit. Which I just realized is NOT 25% of 2300. Hmmm, maybe I should go run my numbers at the JUDDD site again. Here's what I did:

                  Up at 5:30

11:30 medium spinach salad with 1 bacon, 1/2 hard egg, vinegar

4:00 vegetable slurry with poached egg

                  6:30 baby bell cheese nugget

9:30 yogurt with 1/2 packet stevia

                  Water: 8 glasses
                  Walking: no- hemming!
                  Pains: yes, 22

                  Bed at 10:00

Went to bed hungry, and this morning after making sushi lunch for the family, I chowed down on some ground beef, cheese, and avocado leftovers.

                    • honestly, you deserve a medal! I would either have made her wear higher heels, paid someone to do it, or made her hem it herself! Of course I despise sewing and especially sewing by hand! Congrats on sticking through it, I am sure it is lovely.

                      • I like sewing. So relaxing for me. But 7 1/2 hours of hemming one item would probably get old really fast unless I had enough movies and DIY Network to watch while I hemmed. You make me want to be a housewife so badly!! I would thoroughly enjoy your job, I think.

                          • I DID watch episodes of Fringe through most of the hemming!

I love being a homemaker, mother, and wife. And I think our family has gotten a lot out of having me at home. (Least of- nicely hemmed prom dresses!)

Made a batch of fabric flowers today, that I am going to attach to hair combs. Middlest looks great in her dress(already wearing the highest heels she's got- she's a short nugget).

Dinner tonight: lambchops and roasted cauliflower. Five minutes until go time, and the smell is driving me wild. I have reintroduced cauliflower, 'cause I just NEEDED some more veg choice. I am willing to have a little gas.

                            • Wow. There was one point in my life when I sewed all our clothes (except jeans). But 7 1/2 hours on a hem, wow! That is going to be some dress. Can't wait 'til you post a picture of her in it. Oh, I'm back. See post if interested 7 1/2 hours. I'm impressed.
