Your dogs (including the adoptee) were cute, too. I didn't make that offer to Middlest just to say it, either. If she picks a major, let me know, and I can point her to whatever the best school in the quad state area (or nation) is for it.
Fun! Nameless and I got together in Boston too. Got any pics?

    • As per Sabine's request, we took photos, but none will appear on here. She likes her anonymity.

        • Back again!

Well, I had a great Thanksgiving.

Working from the middle: I got to meet Naiadknight, which was cool. Hard to remember to call her by her 'real' name, though. To me, she stays Naiad. It was fun getting to talk in person, and I met her sister, too. Since it was smack in the middle of the holidays it was at home, and not very primal (pie was involved). Would have been fun to go walking. But you take what you can get. I'm glad that she would drive up and see me on that crazy traffic day.

Back to Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law came with her husband, and it was wonderful to see them. It has been about five years since we were last out there. My BIL bought us a wonderful free-range turkey, and the dark meat was fabulous. I have never tasted dark meat that good.

It was nice to hang with my SIL. She and I made the pies together, and got chances to talk a lot. I wish we lived closer to each other (or had buckets of money so it was easy to fly in for a weekend together).

We had two guests for Thanksgiving Day. One of my friends who is always fun, and one of Honey's coworkers who is just here for a month, so had no place to go. He was young, handsome, and with an Australian accent. Gold star for Honey. He also brought us a bottle of Ice Wine, which was deliciously yummy. Like drinking dessert. My friend did a tarot reading for SIL, which was fun, and we all played a couple rounds of Dominion while getting hungry for pie. A nice evening.

And moving forward: an excellent Pie Party. Fourteen kinds of pie, and lots of neighbors and friends stopping by, mostly in waves, so there would be quiet moments to catch our breath, then an hour of talking and fun.

While I probably ate more pie than the average person, I did not eat as much as I thought I would. That happened last year, too. Could I be losing my taste for pie?

My kitchen is finally cleared again, and I have eight cups of super-rich turkey broth ready for the freezer. Dinner for tonight: turkey pot pie!

Now, off to read journals. I feel like I have been away forever!

          • Traffic wasn't that bad. Most of the idiots were already at the malls or wherever they were going. I enjoyed being at y'all's place. I apologize if I ended up offending your [BIL? Brother?] with the engineering argument. It was good to put faces to names (or "names") Don't worry about my names. I've been Naiad online long enough that I practically respond to it in real life anyways.

            • BIL likes a spirited discussion. It's the only one he got all week, because the rest of us are boring sticks.

              • Take a deep breath

Tomorrow I am getting back to it. There's plenty of protein in the house, thanks to the food bank and Thanksgiving. Ditto vegetables. And I am sick of the carbs. Even the pie is failing to hold my interest. So far today I have eaten 1/4th of a slice! That's it!

So, meat and veg and fat. Plenty of water. Walking. Sleep, although that is one bit I have (mostly) kept on with. Maybe a cold water bath or two.

I'm planning on weighing myself tomorrow morning, and hoping that four weeks of dedicated good stuff will take off the bloat from the last two months. Not looking forward to seeing the number, but it will be what it will be.

Also, a secret project, which I will not reveal details of, for fear of jinxing myself.

You may notice a lack of exercise in the plan. Except the walking. I don't consider walking EXERCISE, just basic human movement. I may go to the gym with Honey, but I'm not planning on it. Especially since, until we get a new car, we'd be biking to the gym, which I am not that interested in. It is not so bad going, but the coming back- oy!

I know Jenn and Pebbles are doing Whole 30 or 27. This won't be all natural, so not a Whole 28, but it will be Basic 28, just trying to get back into the habit of the basics which I know are so good for me.

When my friend took me last week to see 'Twilight' there was a problem with the service, so as we left the theater they handed us free passes for another show. So today I walked down to the train, and went to see it again. Really enjoyed it, plus 70 minutes of walking in the cool autumn air. Very nice.

                • Double Ugh

Saturday morning Middlest woke up with a cold, to which was added, yesterday afternoon, a stomach ailment. She spent a good part of the day throwing up, poor child.

Last night I joined the lists, so we'll both be spending today in bed.

I DID drag myself to the scale for my starting over weight, and got the nasty Q of 214.5. That might have been enough to send me back to bed on its own. In three months I have gained almost thirty pounds.

And here's to jumping back on the bandwagon.

                      • As quickly as it went on, Sabine, I would expect it to also come off quickly. I can't imagine that 30 lbs is all water weight, but I bet about half of it will be. Just get back on track and hope for the best. Good luck.

My daughter was sick with a crazy fever for 2 days last week! (Luckily, she only puked twice - 1st time was probably due to being sick, 2nd time was because I gave her juice and she was so thirsty she chugged it down too fast). I hope you feel better soon. Being sick sucks.

                        • The sickies must be passing over the entire continent! I felt queazy all night and woke up Friday morning on the "throne" and puking into the trash can. It passed quickly though and I was fine for the rest of the day - good thing cuz Friday evening was our family gathering.

                            • I'm up for half an hour's amusement on the boards, then back to bed. Passed the morning in a stupor, drinking tea, and snuggling with the dogs. Middlest is feeling on the mend(if not BETTER), so I am hoping I am just 12 hours behind her.
