  • BBT - got the batteries, lost the thermometer, lol

    148 days binge-free!

    Leptin Resistance goals:
    - Breakfast w/ 50gm of protein at least
    - Breakfast w/i 30m of rising no, 1hr. just too dang tired & uncomfortable to get going in the morning
    - 5+ hrs between Breakfast and Lunch yes, no lunch
    - 5+ hrs between Lunch and Dinner yes, no lunch
    - finished dinner by 7:30? yes, 5:45
    - no snacking yes, but hngry at 7pm, didn't eat nearly enough dinner
    - 3.5+ hrs between dinner & bedtime yet, 5?
    - exposure to morning temp & sun yes, overcast & 62
    - darkening the house at sunset
    - 100% primal diet yes
    - <50g carb per day, GAPS (no grains, sugar, legumes, lactose, or starches) yes
    - no PUFA's other than fCLO forgot fCLO

    Cold - ice pack overnight on thigh, 1hr ice bath (only lgot water to 66, though!)

    Results
    - energy 4/10. Felt better after bath, but dreary again 3hrs later
    - bloating = 2+mo morning
    - skin = slightly bumpy upper arms
    - slept hard 11:15-8.
    - Fat on belly keeps getting thinner! Now the fat on backs of upper arms, forearms, and calves is having that "loose, can lift it up and off" feeling. !!
    - whole body feels thinner, esp. arms. Loving it! Weighed <140 after my bath... I NEVER weigh less after a meal than when I wake! Begone, bloat!
    - pulse 96 right now while sitting. Forgot to take coconut water this morning.

      • from colleenm @ OL forum:
        if no depression and no fluid retention then I would stick with the straight Bcomplex at 50mg. Ive added extra B6 and am experimenting a bit with niacin to see if I can`t get fluid and toxins moving out of the cells faster but I tend towards edema.
        The edema is gone today, but a note for the future. Niacin, check.

        for sea salt try taking 1/4 tsp in 8oz of water and drinking it. if it tastes salty you probably don`t need it, if it doesn`t increase the next time to 1/2 tsp to see how you react as you probably need it. salting food helps but it is not as effective as taking it in water.

        for potassium I have a tell when I am too low as the arches in my feet begin to cramp very painfully. if that happens I take 5 99mg potassium pills (5=1 banana or avocado) or some young coconut water

        • I am below 140!!!! For the first time since 2004, three babies ago! Just 4lb over high school weight, and very officially no longer "overweight," even by BMI standards.

          WOOHOO!!!!!

          I was feeling very slender after my cold bath, and weighed, and (this never happens) actually weighed less than I did when I woke up this morning. Just under 140. WOOHOO!!!!! 45 pounds gone!

              - bloating = 2mo morning. Really, no one but me might realize it's there. 3+mo afternoon. 4mo by bedtime. ! (coco water?)
              - skin = slightly bumpy upper arms. I think the hair on my arms might be returning?!
              - slept hard 11:15-8.
              - pulse seems better after coco water, but I still feel very weak
              -actually, pulse between 96 & 120 or more all day. BP normal (87/61), but after a few ounces of coconut water, blood sugar was 130 & so was pulse! Electrolytes, thyroid excess, not hypotension or hypoglycemia...

              ETA just remembered that a few days ago (maybe yesterday or the day before) I had hiccups, before and after dinner. Tht doesn't usually happen unless I've eaten something bad. Detox?

              This wooziness is driving me crazy. I did remember that I have certainly felt this way during pregnancy before. does that help diagnose it any?

                - finished dinner by 7:30? no, started at 8:30 & finished at 10!!! first violation of this in forever

                - exposure to morning temp & sun yes, sunny & 60, but ... felt chilly, although granted I was in tank top & shorts!

                D - Churrascaria! salad (no nightshades, fodmaps, etc.), heaps of meat meat meat - definitely ate my money's worth! (Yes, more bacon-wrapped filet, please. Yes, more bacon-wrapped filet, please. No, no chicken drummettes, thank you. Yes, more bacon-wrapped filet, please. Yes, more beef ribs, please...)

                Results
                - energy 5/10 (probably could have rated this a lot higher were it not for the woozies)
                - bloating = 3mo morning, all lower lower belly. 4mo bedtime.
                - skin = less bumpy upper arms. I think the hair on my arms might be returning?!
                - slept hard 11:15-8. Could easily have slept more
                - pulse 70 in bed, 120 standing, atually down to 84 sitting today. I suspect potassium more, b/c hypokatremia also includes edema!! I doubt hyperthyroid includes *positional* tachycardia as a symptom.
                - took 1/2tsp "lite salt" (more potassium chloride than sodium chloride), felt more stable all day and pulse was usually around 96 instead of 120, sometimes lower than 96. No shaking today, even though my arm was shaking while lyingin bed this morning.
                - *needed* lunch today. Had a lot of feelings similar to early pregnancy (impossible, M'd this month and O'd today!) - light but persistent nausea, shakiness, desperate to get meat, revulsed by sweets). Haven't needed lunch since November! But I obey my body. Also desperately needed tons of meat for dinner, got it!

                  D - ham steak, greens in bacon grease & balsamic vinegar, the cake. Once again, first bite today was meh, but every bite made me want more. Some day, maybe I won't have this reaction. For now, I'm glad to have a warning sign. Absolutely no sweetener of any kind for the next few weeks, bare minimum. Blood sugar **142** almost two hours after the piece of cake (normal size).

                    - skin = almost back to 100% super smooth again
                    - slept with a few wakenings 11:00-8:20, don't remember turning off alarm. Could easily have slept more.
                    - RHR 70, yay!!! Go potassium! Still slight nausea (learned this can be from hypokalemia, too)
                    - ran to fetch a ball while playing catch with ds, got crazy rapid pulse and had crazy leaden muscles all over body for an hour. Gonna chalk this one up to the potassium problem, too.

                      - RHR back to 60, yay!!! Go potassium! super mild pitting edema on left shin from yesterday gone now, too.
                      - NEEDED to eat by 5:30, had been trying to hol doff since 4:30. Continued picking off pernil while it was still int he oven tilla bout 7:15, when I finished off my "dinner".

                        • My scalp has been itching like CRAZY the last two days, and my hair has gotten crazy grease-y the last month.

                          Just took my icy bath and dd (2yo) jumped in! She didn't care at all that it was cold, ,and stayed in for at least 15m. INterestingly, when she hopped out, she wasn't freezing like she normally is when she gets out of a warm bath.

                            - still pitting on left shin (milder) (even more down by bedtime). Pulse down most of the day, ,between 75ish & 100?
                            - was SO tired & dumpy last night, felt just totally weighted down. Cold bath perked me a little bit.. Much better this morning.
                            - had Coconut KeVita today. Very addictive, but only 10 cal per bottle, all from just plain old coconut & ACV. Felt fine until the last few ounces of the second one (had been hours since any previous), then suddenly nose clogged up and half hour later, very slight head wooziness

                                KeVita midday (slight wooze)

                                - energy 4-5/10 ... exhausted mid-day when walking around (field trip to start of Trail of Tears) and pulse up
                                - bloating = <3mo morning, FIVE MO evening - what?! The cultured coconut w/ nibs? Seriously?
                                - skin = almost back to 100% super smooth again
                                - slept 10:45-8 with several interruptions, but fell right to sleep for all but one, and 20m for that one ... normally would have taken an hour or more for that one
                                - pitting almost gone
                                - feeling short-tempered, or rather, when child does something wrong, flare up really hot really fast, then down quickly. At times mind going much faster than mouth can, so stumbling through explanations of things. Considering taking thyrogold out again, if pulse stays up and pitting stays down and potassium stays constant.
