    • So I went to the mountains with my whole family (parents + sibs + their kids & spouses) and did not eat a single thing off my plan outside of sampling one half bite of gluten-free brownie dough (to prove to myself I wasn't missing anything - I wasn't).

      Huge.

This is really working. There were a couple times I thought, "Maybe just try one bite of this (extremely wheat-y) cornbread," etc. But the thought immediately came to mind, "I'm a big girl and I can deal for 8 weeks without even just one bite." I've tried to use thoughts like that in the past, but the cravings were too strong for them to have an effect. The levels of diminished cravings and firm resolution are finally coming to a point where they can meet and I can succeed!

        15 days binge-free

        Leptin Resistance goals:
        - Breakfast w/ 50gm of protein yes.
        - Breakfast w/i 30m of rising no - 60
        - 5+ hrs between Breakfast and Lunchyes - not hungry for lunch
        - 5+ hrs between Lunch and Dinner yes - no lunch
        - no snacking yes
        - darkening the house at sunset yes
        - exposure to morning sun no, overcast
        - 100% primal diet [b] Yes
        - <50g carb per day yes. <20, probably
        - no PUFA's other than fCLO yes
        - teaspoon of coconut oil if I start fading extra with bkfst

        Mg (700mg) -
        D (5000IU) - yes
        HCl (5/day and working down) - 2 + 1
        OOO (4 drops) -
        ACV (1T) -
Also: organ pills, broth, ferments: SKJ before bkfst, SK before dinner
Dairy-free? accidentally a taste of butter before remembering my experiment du jour
        Me & BabyGrok wheat-free days: 0 - gotta get a communion solution

        B - 7.5+ oz sausage

D - sauerkraut, taste of butter, whatever maltodextrin is in Baby Biotic (it was spilled and I couldn't bring myself to waste it), ham steak.
1 C green mint tea afterward.

I forgot to take a TB of CO with my dinner, so I'm starving two hours later. Must drink more tea!

        Results
        - energy steady 5/10
        - bloat better 5/10
        - the trail mix definitely gets me a bit giddy and a wee bit woozy, even with very little. Definitely avoiding that stuff.
        - think I'm a bit more bloated after the trail mix & sour cream, but not sure which did it. Keeping my eye on it ...
        - Huge weekend success - on vacation with sibs & parents & families and no - NO! - wheaty indiscretions or sugary indulgences. The cravings are catching up (inversely) to my will...
        - getting very full off my BABs now. I didn't eat lunch Wed - Sat and didn't need to Sun, either. No lunch today. Just don't need it. I did get very grumpy around 6:30 until 7pm dinner. I've *got* to get dinners earlier.

Experiment for the week: I'm going on an extreme elimination diet to find out if there's any base level where I don't have any bloating. Beef/pork, coconut oil, & fermented sauerkraut. Any suggestions?

Today was good. I started off cleaning out the old fashioned way and felt better already. I got a little bloated after dinner (just pork & pork fat), and now I think it's gone again. Accidentally had a tiny bit of butter & some kind of starchy stuff.

            - TMI - pain, explosion ~3-4hrs after my lunch of sausage & CO (no HCl). ? Had been feeling a bit more bloated than expected, felt better afterward.
            - Felt almost great waking up naturally after only 7hrs, but after 1.5hrs of nursing, felt a brick wall of sleepiness hit me. Slept >hr and had to get up, still felt horribly groggy and almost dizzy (but not like orthostatic hypotension), muscles weak. Fine rest of the day till late afternoon.
            - Felt snack-y around lunch time, so had a mini-lunch. This worked well, but late afternoon I started wanting the potato chips I bought for ds' birthday ... every time I passed them. I've been through this enough times, though, that I know this, too, shall pass.
-Feeling very grumpy this evenign and REALLY wanted lots of potatoes. Glad I got through it with just one bite.
            - Also very distracted. I feel like I can't do anything for more than 1 minute, unless it's spacing out on the computer. I HATE this feeling.

            Die-off, my friends.

            • It's a great day! Down 2lb ssince yesterday, down 5lb in less than 2wks, had significant mental die-off symptoms last night followed by feeling great mentally and physically this morning, can wear ALL the clothes I could wear last spring at 143 before my 6 weeks of weekend binges led to 10lb of weight gain, feeling cheerful and hopeful this morning.

              It's such a roller coaster.

Interestingly, I not only lost the bloating this week, but >1/2" on my glut measurement and the surrounding areas. Waist is at its lowest since I started measuring post-BabyGrok#5 - 32".

The big breakfast is working its magic - when I first upped it to 65gm in the morning, I felt like I could eat it all over again immediately, but now, it fills me (without stuffing) and I'm not hungry until at least 4:30 or 5, often later. So now there are extended periods of fat burning twice a day (9-7 and 8-8ish) as well as natural calorie reduction (no hunger) going on. It's working!

I know there will still be setbacks, but I'm feeling more confidant than ever about beingg able to overcome temptation. I'm making a cheesecake - my absolute favorite kind - for dd's birthday and not feeling the cravings. Amazing. I'm really feeling the "I can do this for just 8 weeks, and I do NOT want to stop the momentum!" feeling strong, stronger than ever. I've tried to force that feeling before, but it's coming naturally now.

                - Not feeling so crazily distracted
                - bloat from potatoes is way gone this morning. Best the bloat has been in two months.
                - really feeling good! Not at all hungry from bkfst till 5:30ish, then needed to eat to head off any temptations toward eating dd's cheesecake.

This is the first time I've ever made something sweet and not eaten it. First time I've ever made a treat for anyone and not eaten huge quantities myself. Of course, I had my daughter make it (b/c she loves to), but I was able to decide that, rather than obsess over making it, and I knew in advance that I would be able to resist, rather than being certain in advance that I couldn't and just planning to minimize the damage.

Feeling *very* strong against temptation right now, TBTG.

                • I just realized I'm probably eating 750-1000 calories/day, depending on how much fat. I guessed 700, then doubled the calories I estimated for the fat total. And I'm not hungry at all.. At. all.

                    • It sounds like you have some wild hormones reseting. I went through some wild fluctuations while on reset a few months ago and am doing it again now I think. Stay the course a few more weeks to see if things settle out. So great that your seeing your weight drop and good for not getting into the cheese cake. Smart of you to have dd make it. I find that if I don't taste things, I can resist them - but one taste and I can be in trouble.
RLS is a PITA! I find that a calcium supp. really helps w/ mine. I notice you are already taking Mag.

This is a hundred times true! I was never able to resist the first bite before, even though I knew what it would mean. I can now. I can look at the cheesecake and say to myself, "One bite means three pieces and being set back a month. No way!!"

I've been forgetting my Mg for over a month. If the RLS happens again, I'll for sure remember it. Thanks for the reminder!

                        • So I resisted the cranberry chevre, the cranberry stilton, the potato chips, the sweet potatoes, the bacon grease coated green beans, and the ice cream. There's actually almost a relief not having to eat anything but meat. . I filled up on the pernil (Puerto Rican pork shoulder TO DIE FOR), then started cutting slices of birthday cheesecake. One slice and I had to have DaddyGrok do the rest - too tempting!

After everyone was served cheesecake, ice cream, and punch, I had a bitsy sip of the punch (b/c I used cider instead of pineapple juice and wanted to check the flavor) and one bite of cheesecake. It was very good - but not as good as I remember. And I am still debating whether, if given the choice, I'd rather hae one bite of pernil, or one bite of cheesecake.

If it was an unlimited amount, no doubt I'd choose the pernil. No side effects to a bunch of pernil. If it were one full serving, I'm not sure. But just one bite ... was tied earlier, but right now I'm leaning toward the pernil. I just know what one bite means. Even now, I'm dying for the potato chips, and when looking at the cheesecake, mooning for it. It's still different - I can resist today; never been able to do this before - but I'd just as soon lose the mooning feeling.

I'll buckle up extra tight tomorrow - surely cravings will be greater after the one bite, and I have another child's birthday party to get through. Gonna get SweetTeenGrok to make this cake for me, too. Good thing she loves to!

DS1 told the party guests that we were about to have "the greatest food since food was invented." Love pernil! And love primal kids!

It'll be interesting to see if there are any effects from this, bloat-wise. So far, only effects of the mini bit of sugar & dairy are increased cravings - slightly - and I'm staving it off with more pernil, more pork fat (cueritos!!!!), and a little Apollinaris.

So nota bene: 1 bite of cheesecake and half a sip of punch (mostly fruit juice, bit o' ice cream) = bloated. Not deathly, but definitely. And I'm hungry for lunch today, and very sleepy. Dairy or fruit? Probably dairy. I'd rather give up fruit.

Had a quick nap, interrupted during it, and felt overwhelmingly tired (hard to lift arms) and miserable (weepy for no reason) for about an hour, then recovered. Lunchtime hunger went away during sleep and never returned.

                            • It usually takes me > 1 hr from waking to breakfast too. I wake early and then take thyroid meds and am supposed to wait an hr, but even so, I am usually doing other things for the rest of the family and just don't get to it w/in 30 min most of the time. No point in stressing about it - I just acccept it and carry on with my life. Have you found this exact breakfast timing to make a difference for you?

                              • I've never tried it, so I don't know, lol. I wanna give it a shot. I appreciate your sage reminder not to stress about it!
