  • I like winencandy's format, so trying that for a few days...

    Food
    B - 3 eggs, CO, felt giddy at the thought of cheese so didn't have any
    S - gobs of crisped pecans and toasted cashews. Whyh are nuts so addictive?
    S - yogurt w/ about 2/3 of a banana
    D - meatloaf, fried green tomatoes (rolled in egg & almond flour, fried in pernil grease - yum!)

      I realized as I went to bed last night that ... I had energy yesterday. Not a ton, but enough to have me preferring to be up rather than seated. crossing fingers...

      • 157.5 - strangely enough, 2lbs heavier than yesterday, even though I've eaten much better and my belly is shrinking! So random...

              • Did you know Trader Joe's has bacon-wrapped steak that's perfect for hors' doeuvres? It was a huge hit at BabyGrok's birthday party! We had those, carrots, celery, salamis, cranberry stilton, & brie for appetizers, then turkey, cranberry sauce, brussels sprouts, collard greens, pumpkin souffle for dinner, and carrot cake (made from navy beans w/ a whipped cashew frosting) w/ cranberries for the birthday cake. All was homemade except for the bacon steak & cheeses.

                Yesterday was good primal-wise, but had too much of the leftover cake! Only honey was used in the sauce & cake & souffle, and not much of it.

                Will weigh tomorrow

                • Okay, dokey, while no one's looking, I'll post some tentative progress pics...

                  The thing that hurt me most about having gained so much weight was my face. It just looked so bloated every time I saw myself, and I avoided pics as much as possible, but DaddyGrok insisted the whole family be in the Christmas pic last year, and a friend insisted on taking a pic of both of us while in Key West last year for the Orange Bowl.

                  Dec 2009

                  Jan 2010 In this one, my belly was so huge; it was so uncomfortable. This was about one month postpartum, and I still looked very, very pregnant when not wearing a huge coat!

                  I didn't lose one pound from one week postpartum until I went primal over two months later. My last two babies, I actually *gained* weight starting at this point, and that was NOT going to happen here!!! I was totally desperate. I was eating only real food, no sugar, only properly prepared grains, no more than one or two servings of them a day. No matter; I couldn't lose anything. In February, I started this journal, and kicked out all the grains, and all fruits except for berries for a 30 day challenge. When I started it, I looked like the picture above at 185, 5'4".

                  Next one is in July. I hit 170 in June, but then went on vacation for two weeks and stalled for a month, but didn't gain. Here is early July, from the side, and while this is nowhere close to what I wanted, at least my belly didn't push my swim coverup out anymore! I was feeling really good, but was so sad when I saw this pic, b/c I still looked so bloated in the face and body.

                  When I started GAPS, I lost ten pounds fast, mostly belly, and then kept losing inches even while staying at the same weight, and no exercise at all. That was from cutting potatoes, fruit, & dairy.

                  • You look wonderful, all the same, the difference in your face and especially the jawline is amazing. And of course your stomach - a huge difference.

                    I have taken some before pics in bra and knickers but no one is going to see them until I can post a decent 'during' shot!

                    • I know - my face has always been heart-shaped, and it's getting there again!

                      Okay, I pulled out a skirt I haven't been able to wear for at least three years, and it fit, so I took another 'during' picture at 156, I think:
                      Arms starting to change, too.

                      Then I dared to buy some new clothes for my goal weight, and found that I could actually wear some of the shirts now (thank you, Spandex!), AND the goal jeans that I have literally never worn before (gift from my mother a few years ago, but were too small) fit, so that definitely called for another pic:

                      My stomach felt *great* that day, so I was disappointed to see that it still curves out a bit, but then took a step back and looked at where I've come from and ... yeah, I'm not disappointed any more. Some day I hope I'll look at this shot and it will seem like a 'before' pic compared to the final place I'm at, but for now, I'm really happy that I no longer look obviously overweight. I'm really grateful for that. Finally, the outside is starting to match what the inside of my body has felt like ever since going primal, which is a major, major improvement.

                      There are a lot of "lost 60 pounds in 5 months" primal stories out there, but that seems not to be my path. Slow and steady wins the race seems to be mine!
