        Fitting into lots of pants I couldn't last month at just a pound lighter. !! Pulled out a new pair of goal jeans since I am currently wearing the pair I had out before.

        Breakfast: 3 eggs, 1T CO, ~1oz raw fontina
        Lunch: leftover pot roast (mostly broth), PB & honey (b/c we're very low on ready-to-eat protein right this moment!)
        Dinner: leg of goat, brussels sprouts (gobs of them, with gobs of butter), salad, fermented sauerkraut

        Sleep: asked DD to take Baby Grokette when she woke up, then I slept until almost 10. Oh man, I feel SOOOO much better. It's nice to have a 12yo daughter who loves babies in the house, let me tell you that!

        • I was really bloated last night, and noticed that several others in the house were, too, and had been since...Thanksgiving! I hadn't been, though, so maybe the pb & honey, even though it wasn't excessive?

          155.4. ish.

          BKFST 3 eggs, 1T CO, negligible amount of raw cheese

          LUNCH roast beef & herbed turkey, very small orange, cranberry sauce (homemade w/ honey) & some PB.

          DINNER spaghetti sauce j& meat w/ no noodles, buttery green beans

          Snacked on nuts, iirc?

            DINNER marinated lamb tips, bacon greasy turnip greens, salad. seriously, who says you have to suffer to lose weight, lol?!

            5:30 really ravenous! And dying to fall asleept

            Sleep - 8hrs last night?

            Wearing a pair of jeans that I haven't put on in literally at least four years. Probably closer to five. They fit nicely. DH is chasing me all over the house, lol.

            • 157! I was extremely bloated last night. Not sure why. Still quite a bit so this morning.

              1. Eat lots of animals & plants. (No insects for me, thankyouverymuch!)
              Breakfast - 3 eggs in 1T CO.

              Lunch - (quality) lunch meats, smoothie

              Snack - lunch meat, nuts

              Dinner - roast chicken w/ lotsa skin, cole slaw, kale chips

              2. Move around a lot at a slow pace.

              • back to 154.8, yay! measurements are looking good, too. I lost more on my calf in the last three weeks than in the previous 11 months since BabyGrok's birth! I can actually see my very defined calf muscle that's been hidden in there all this time.

                I've been thinking about why some of us really struggle with continued bloating, cravings, etc., even after going primal, for months and months and months. I mean, I see so many people basically say, "Oh, grains are bad! Cool! Done!" and instantly they lose the weight, have tons of energy, and most of the struggles are done, and fruit is no big deal for them. Others of us have lots of initial health gains, but the energy is elusive (but makes occasional appearances, unlike the total dearth of it before), the bloating recurrent (but not constant, as before), and we just keep fighting b/c we KNOW we're not going back tot he way it was before.

                My working theory is that it may have to do with antibiotic history (or other serious gut-flora-damaging experience). My sugar craziness absolutely ramped up when I went on lots of antibiotics for recurrent infections over the course of 3-5 years (a new course every other month in the last year or two of it). I'm thinking that the gut damage is why it's so hard for me, but so easy for folks like DaddyGrok, who just went, "no grains? cool. done." and instantly lost 10 lbs of belly roundness, which was literally the only thing he had to lose, since he's always been under 10% body fat. No struggles. No recurrence as long as he stays off the grains (like, it came back for a few days after Thxgiving, and is gone again).

                It seems like women have the struggles so much more. Could it be that we are much more prone to antibiotic use in adulthood, b/c of UTIs & mastitis? dunno.

                Dinner - smoked brisket, peppers & shrooms in butter, salad

                Snack - big progressive party, ate whatever non-grain stuff I could find. I'm sure I had some non-primal stuff in there somewhere. Had some dessert at the end. very, very full! I ate a full dinner first so I wouldn't go nuts, though, and it worked.

                  • A milestone - it's been 3.5 years since I stopped washing my hair!

                    Lunch - pork ribs & bacon fat smoked by daddygrok. ~cheese. 2 PB & J larabars. oops!

                    Snack - sunflower seeds galore

                    Dinner - soup made from pork backbone & other odds and ends, brussels sprouts, salad

                        Brrrrrrrrr ... 68 feels much colder inside somehow when it's 19 degrees outside than when it's 68 out. But it's Atlanta; it was in the 70s just what, a week ago?, and probably will be again next week. Roller coaster weather.

                          Snack - more than a serving of crisped pecans trying to avoid larabar craving.

                          Lunch - lamb, pernil fat, PB & honey, raisins.

                          Snack - gave in to the larabar craving. spinning head now. dried cherries, too. I feel completely unable to get up and sustain a task for more than 15 minutes, and have all day.

                          Dinner - chicken salad, olives, mango/ginger cheese. bits of homemade larabar mix.

                          • I'm just tired, tired, tired of this dance with destruction. I'm so tired of struggling, having to beat back cravings, say no, every day of my life. I've seen glimpses of what it's like not to have to say no constantly; I've lived that way for weeks, if not months, at a time. Yes, I have these battles less often than before (which was CONSTANT; it never let up as long as I was eating sugar or grains); yes, I succeed against them more than before; yes, when I fall it's far less disastrous than before (4 Larabars can't compare to half a gallon of ice cream) - but I'm so WEARY. Weary.

                            My hope is that GAPS will heal my gut enough to take me away from that edge - but it can't work if I'm not doing it! After so many weeks of fighting the fruit battle and losing, the cravings for sugar are too strong to make it through all these Christmas parties without falling here and there. Certainly they're minor falls, but I'M JUST TIRED OF BEING BLOATED!!! Obviously I need to eliminate fruit, honey, nuts, & winter squashes for a time to get rid of the candida that is plaguing me.

                            After the New Year. I guess. I expect I'll re-do the GAPS intro for a week b/c I've probably undone all the gains I made. I'll probably have to get terribly sick once a week for six weeks again. It was that getting sick that first left me desperate & falling for sugar to begin with, but maybe this will go better with advance knowledge.

                            I'm just so weary. There are a lot worse problems in the world, and I feel very ridiculous for griping about my minor problem, but I'm so concerned that if I can't conquer this, my kids can't, and they'll leave the house addicted to sugar and ruin their health like I came so very close to doing. (Honestly, I think I was just a few years from diabetes.)
