    • I like your plan for Lent. When you are feeling pangs, but not eating, do you think of the spiritual aspect of it at all? I have never fasted for spiritual reasons, and I wonder if it makes it easier, or more challenging, because you are concentrating on it in a way.

      • Hey Sabine, It makes it both difficult and easier at the same time. On the one hand I am fasting for the purpose of spiritual reflection. On the other hand because I'm not doing for health and I'm doing it every day I'm finding I'm having weird and constant cravings (flip back one page and the burger will speak for my last comment). It's difficult because it's not a tangible reason for fasting and I find myself being tempted to eat when I know I shouldn't. All in all it's been a great experience so far.

          • Thanks siobhan!

I finally found a tortilla recipe that works! So I made tacos yesterday... Here's the result...

I also attempted a dessert... I suck at baking but I'm quite happy with these... It's a shame though- I don't know the recipe for sure because it's batter leftover from failed pancakes with some niceties thrown in and some more coconut flour to firm it up. Blueberry "Muffins" with pecans, maple syrup, and shredded coconut.

Sorry I've been away for so long. I tend to not post on the weekends but yesterday was a different kind of day. On sunday I found out that I didn't get the job I was hoping for. I made first level of interview (which was a submitted history of my experience) but no face to face interview. This honestly was my first heartbreak in years. I had my heart set on this job so to not even get an interview was a real stinger. Anyways- I guess all I can do is look forward. I'm taking a tour or a culinary school on the weekend. Hoping to see if I can get second career funding from the government.

                        • Sorry to hear that. But culinary school, that is a great opportunity. Maybe you are meant to be a primal chef and bring primal food to a larger audience and make the world a better place!

And that duck looks awesome - I mean it, beyond belief, I can just about taste it.

                            • Been going through my old journal entries. Specifically the ones from last winter- partially because I'm looking for patterns... well one's been found and it's as exactly as I remembered it. Weightloss just doesn't happen in the winter. My first big loss before the ball got rolling again was over the month of April. I think I'll do the same thing this year- a "no weigh" April then back to regular weighins again after that. As it is I weigh myself almost every day now and I know it's unhealthy but I also know that as long as there is snow on the ground my body will not want to lose any of my storage.

                              • I was looking over my journal for weight loss patterns too and found something that is probably not unique to me, but of course when I figured it out, it was a major AHA! I lose a few pounds, then stabilize, then lose, then stabilize. And it seems like my body just needs to do that. I can't lose this mythical 1 lb a week or whatever the magic number is supposed to be. I go down 2 or 3 and hang there, then repeat the pattern. And the body just hangs on to weight at certain times. There is a satisfaction to going with these natural cycles.
