    • Mmm... So one thing I haven't really shared about is my cooking weekends. A buddy and I have been getting together Saturday's to cook. I haven't posted any pics here and I probably won't but it's all been awesome paleo food! It's nice having a paleo buddy in town who is as passionate about food as I am

On a side bar I think that plateau is starting to lift. Good thing too because I was having a hard time staying motivated sitting at the same weight for three and a half months. Hopefully I'll have a proper update on this soon.

      • Have you been doing measurements, ecks? I'd be very curious to know if you size has been changing these past months while your weight was stabilizing.

          • I'm thinking I'm going to print out some of these photos of your food and when people cringe and look at me all pityingly when I tell them I don't eat grains, I'll pull them out and maybe invite them to pinch my rock-hard ass. I might end up in jail, though.

              • Okay, break it up, you two...

Ecks, remember that primal has done more for you than just weight loss, as important as that is. I am quite sure you do not want to go back to where you were before.

Those expanding pants are a very good sign you're on the right track.

                      • LOL, you guys are funny!

It is funny how amazed people are when I say we don't eat grains. They always come back with something like, "At all?" and "I could never do that!" And all the time I am thinking about how much better I feel and how yummy the food is, and I honestly don't miss grains at all. My trouble is the sugar addiction, grains have always been a hard sell for me. I used to beg canned fish from my mom when I was still in highschool for a before dinner snack, because I just craved something substantial... and I hated the mac and cheese we used to eat all the time because it was cheap. My brothers on the other hand still LOVE it and get all emotional about it. Shudder....

                            • For me, the sugar and grains really go hand-in-hand. Baked goods! The work of Satan. But I have no trouble staying away from grains, and without the grains I can stay away from sugar, so it works out. Although I could probably eat the entire jar of honey in my kitchen, but, well, I don't. The whole cookies, cake, pie thing is totally out for me, I can't control it.

We used to eat all that pasta stuff, too. I'm older than most of you, and I remember when pasta was called 'noodles' and it was basically really cheap food. There was nothing fashionable about it. A middle class person would never in a million years invite people over to dinner and serve them 'noodles.' We used to eat spaghetti one night, mac and cheese the next, spaghetti...again...on a bad week. A big night was hamburgers. I think it was in the early '80s when pasta became chic.

My grandma used to make 'Spanish noodles.' I have no idea why they were called this. She would cook some bacon and onions, put in a can of Campbell's tomato soup, and add some more sugar. Tossed up this concoction with some spaghetti. I loved it. Probably still do, to be honest! But I used to make a version of this, more upscale, for friends. Prosciutto, shallots, homemade tomato sauce, no added sugar! Real parmesan cheese. (Actually, maybe I will make this for spaghetti squash.) Okay, TMI!

                              • Have you taken a shot at doing zucchini spaghetti? It's delicious. A good homage to regular pasta but actually much more flavor and no bloat!
