          • Your food is looking good. I'm still thinking about your protein salad with the rare meat:-)

Hey, have you ever weighed daily and noticed any relationship between weight loss and stress? I know women seem to do that, but I wondered if men did too.

Chronic stress issue was somewhat alleviated for four days and I lost weight every single day. Had to deal with the stress issue yesterday and guess what, no weight loss! Same food, same sleep, same exercise -- in fact less food, if anything.

Your journal is just good. No way around it:-)

            • I finally found them, Ecks. Pork rinds. Ate half the bag because I was feeling peckish. I am blaming you. They were called Bakon-Ets, or something horrific like that.

I will have to try breading something with them.

              • They make great 'breading', although my daughter complains they make things taste 'too porky'. I have also had recent success with crushed up rice chex. Some non-primal things in it, but not too many. And a little goes a long way.

                • @Sabine The last few chicken recipes I've had have used a mixture of blended pork rinds, salt, pepper, spices, and coconut flour as the breading. Including the chicken wings in the above photo! So good!

@pam I try not to weigh daily. the scale is one of my stressers... my "fall off the wagon" if you will. If I weigh once out of line i obsess about it. Sometimes weighing 2-3 times within a few minutes but definitely weighing like 6 times in a day. I just try keep it away, it's always bad news.

@Judg :P Bakonets are what I have in my cupboards... the fritos ones... mmm... delicious!

So I've been hungry like all day... even though I'm eating at regular times... wonder what it is

Breakfast- 4 asparagus spears (left over from dinner)

Lunch- Burger with a fried egg, pemeal bacon, monteray jack, and guacamole (no bun) + a salad at "Frat Burger"... Team lunch, and since I skipped the last 4 i figured I should go

Dinner- Protien salad same as before except shrimp instead of steak. Left over wings (6 or so). 3 pieces of lindt dark.

Supplements: The usual- 2tbsp of mct, 3000mg fish oil, 6000ui D3

So I get an email at the end of the day (well my team does) stating that for the next 3 weeks starting monday, our team will be getting an extra set of hands from a different department... As I read on I find her name- it's my boss' daughter. I pray that she has major dogface or something because if anything I'd be scared to think she's cute or something. Not a clue what she looks like or what her personality is like but for the life of me i hope she's nothing special.

                  • What's MCT? I'm confused as to which supplements I should be taking...

                    • Yes, I know. Was thinking maybe you'd just noticed. Let's definitely skip the stress - weight thing then. Not important. I was just curious.

Well, let's hope the boss's daughter is not a complete imbecile and unable to work with your team. If she's really cute and fun and all the things that you would like, it might not be the end of the world!!! I mean, your boss must know he's putting her in with you! I'd say it's his fault if she's the perfect friend or...?

I could try explain it... but it would be easier to get a good clean explanation from someone who is more educated. I'm pulling this off of Robb Wolf's website. (Citation: Big ‘FAT’ Blog Post – Part 1)

Are medium chain fatty acids really better for you and why?

                        Answer:

Letís tackle this one by first defining what a medium chain triglyceride (MCT) is. MCTís are 6-12 carbon fatty acids. Due to their chain length they more closely resemble carbohydrates than fat. These intermediate length triglycerides do not require breakdown or energy to be absorbed into the portal system and metabolized for fuel. Contrarily, long chain triglycerides (LCTís) require bile acids, energy, and numerous steps to be digested and made available for use. MCTís are naturally present in milk fat, coconut oil (66% MCTís), and palm oil. From an energy standpoint MCTís provide approximately 8.3 calories per gram while LCTís provide 9 calories/gram.

Are MCTís good for us? The simple answer is yes. MCTís have many potential uses and benefits. Due to their rapid absorption and metabolism MCTís are quickly converted to energy for use by the muscles and organs. This decreases the likelihood of their being stored as fat. Additionally, they are frequently used in enteral and parenteral nutrition formulas for the critically ill; as they are easily absorbed and may enhance immunity. MCTís are especially useful in treatment of diseases and conditions that result in impaired lipid metabolism including: celiac disease, cystic fibrosis, Crohnís disease, pancreatitis, enteritis, malabsorption, and cirrhosis to name a few.

Thatís not all! MCTís have a slight hypoglycemic (blood sugar reducing) effect, are useful in epilepsy treatment as part of a ketogenic diet, may prevent atherosclerosis, stimulate thermogenisis (fat burning), and act as antioxidants. Many endurance athletes find MCTís performance enhancing as they provide quick energy without the insulin spiking effect of carbohydrates. Compared to carbohydrates MCTís are a more efficient source of fuel. Additionally, they prevent muscle breakdown and conserve lean body mass.

Should you abandon all other fats for MCTís? No! While they are useful, it is possible to get too much of a good thing! High MCT consumption may result in abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloating, and an upset stomach. Be smart and balance your fat intake incorporating a combination of very long chain omega-3 fatty acids, MCTís, some saturated fat, and a minimal amount of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids.

                        • So I've been watching a 7 part series (part 7 was just posted) by Dr. Robert Lustig called "The Skinny on Obesity". What this series is intended on is to explain what has happened in the past 30 years or so to make the whole world fat. some of you may have noticed that I posted "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" on Lex's journal and essentially this series is that talk broken down into simpler terms (also with some other thoughts gathered). I wasn't going to post either video until this series was fully posted but something came up yesterday that troubled me on the other journal (Twinkee prof). So I broke the wait and posted a day early.

Anyways- this is broken into 7 parts. I would pray that the whole world would see this video and really start to question what they put in their bodies.

This is just part 1. You should have no problem finding the rest of the series in the links to the right. They are 5-10 mins long each and I promise are much more interesting and mentally simulating than Sugar the bitter truth. First one is actually 12 mins long (sorry I lied!). As a heads up each video starts with an add but it usually lets you skip after 5 seconds of the ad.
