    • Rats! I wanted to see you flexing! ( I'm still intrigued by those car-pulling muscles.)
Nice to see you more than an inch high. You're a good looking and HAPPY looking guy.

      • :P You ladies are awesome! @Sabine- no big muscles yet, still covered in some layers that need to be shed. Our weather's been weird in that it's much colder now than it was a month ago so I haven't been out to the puling yard in a bit.

        Yesterday

Breakfast/Lunch- 3 slices of bacon, 3 eggs omlete (eggs, summer sausage, mushrooms, orange peppers, tomato- all cooked in the bacon fat), 1 pork sausage, some green peppers, a bit of organic bbq sauce for dippin

Dinner- no dinner though I did have a small piece of beef jerky later in the evening. I had planned on eating dinner but passed out hardcore due to my weird sleeping patterns combined with my niece's birthday party and by the time I woke up I figured I shouldn't eat a full on meal

          • Well, as soon as your weather gets nice a day time video of you pulling the car would be great.

BTW, is that your sister or niece or ? next to you in that great picture? Beautiful:-)

Finally got rid of some gorgeous salwar kameez's today that I'll never fit into. Kind of in a resigned sort of mood. I'll feel better in the a.m., I am sure. My youngest son got them for me a couple years ago and they were marked incorrectly.

Just noticed your plank goal. 2 minutes. That'll be incredible. I find your 1 minute plus incredible.

            • Hey Ecks, thought I would come check out your journal, seeing as I keep seeing you in the ones I read. Congrats on your success so far! Looking forward to your happy airplane post after Canada Day. I'm only 5'2', so I never quite got to needing those extenders even at my peak, but it was getting close! Airplanes were getting so uncomfortable, especially trying to manoeuvre in those narrow little aisles. I've had to fly twice this year and what a lovely difference!

              Keep up the good work.

Irrelevant PS: one of my sons went to UofW...

                • Yesterday was another all over the place day event's wise. Normal morning I guess for a sunday. Church. I'm still IFing sunday mornings it just seems like the thing to do. When I got home from church it seemed like I wanted to go on a meat frenzie... In the evening (after playing VG's with some buddies) I was off to a funeral visitation (not sure what you'd call it). Was so uncomfortable there- never sure what to do especially because I did not know the deceased. It was my buddies father in law. I always get uncomfortable in those situations. What confused me even more was that when I got to the front of the line my buddy was there and cracking jokes (which is odd because I know the state of mind he's been in all week) just very confusing...

                  Breakfast- IF

Lunch- 2 eggs, pork sausage, big ass salad

Snack- beef jerkey and summer sausage.

                  Dinner- Piece of flank steak

Post funeral- summer sausage and 3 squares of dark chocolate.

                  • Ecks -
I understand that discomfort you're talking about. I get the same way at funerals. It's my nature to just take on everyone's emotions, even those of people I don't know, and feel just terrible. It was so kind of you to push yourself past the discomfort and be there for your friend.

As far as his joking goes, it could be that he feels comfortable sharing his pain with you, but in a social situation, he might be using humor to keep himself from breaking down. That's a pretty common coping mechanism when one is feeling pain but not feeling safe. It is confusing though.

Hope today ushers in a great week for you...keep taking such good care of yourself!

                    • You know, it's weird, but sometimes you can catch grieving people laughing uncontrollably about things. I remember when my parents rushed over to my aunt's house because my uncle had died at home, my parents said my aunt was laughing very hard at memories that were popping up as the paramedics were preparing to take him away from their home forever. It might just be an off-putting coping mechanism. But we are talking about an in-law here, so who knows.

                      • I share a similar coping mechanism... but usually for physical pain. Never for grieving. Guess it's something that I'll have to learn more as I go through more of these. (Only been to 2 "wakes" and 4 funerals in my life... I tend to laugh at funerals I guess but for the sheer awkwardness of them and not because of a loss)

On a side bar- I completely forgot to mention that I did my first barefoot jog though a forest yesterday. Absolutely amazing experience! Loved it!

                          • Hey Ecks, great picture! And a barefoot jog in the forest is pretty adventurous..

I am one of those people who smile a lot when I am in pain. It is exactly a coping mechanism. It's like, if I'm not smiling I'm going to fall apart. Your friend was probably just really trying to keep the atmosphere a little less awkward by trying to act like things were normal.

Yup, I'm in Ontario too, Ottawa to be precise.

I've been doing the PB seriously for only a couple of weeks. I didn't sign up for the weight loss because that was already working well but for the other health benefits. It does seem to be giving a new push to the weight though. Since last year I've only been losing a pound a month. I don't want to go too fast because then it's harder to keep it off, but a little faster is definitely welcome!

                              • @Lex 5 minutes at a time or so. Just getting the feeling of forest under my feet. And only 2 jogs. I'm still a very large guy so any longer than that and I will keil.

@Jamiyn Thanks! Now I wanna see one of you :P This hair you are being complemented on sounds intriguing

@Judg It will take a little to get started. Sustainability is key. I'm seeing only about a pound a week myself but my weight is always moving in a consistent downward direction. It'll come in time but for now just enjoy all of the other benefits that come with paleo!
