    Groktimus Primal's - Obamacare

They said Obamacare wouldn't work but it seems to be working at least to some degree. Most people have health insurance and the economy still sucks but it hasn't yet collapsed. Here's the the thing to realize though, we still aren't playing with a full deck. You know what they say, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link and there is a lot of silly putty holding this medical baby together.

First off we don't have enough doctors and the wait times are stupendous. We might as well be a third world country. Second the standard of care is low (they don't do much) and when they do they simply send you to a narrow minded specialist who can only help one very limited problem and they don't even communicate back with your primary care doctor so you are never really cured and you are left in the lurch with many appointments and co-pays and unfinished medical ailments. We need Dr. House and instead we get bills and Mickey Mouse. Only the insurance company really wins because the primary care doc is really a gatekeeper for them. Lastly all this medical song and dance is needlessly complicated and expensive which makes sure no one is ever keeping there eye on anything but the money. The hell with you, the patient!

                  Groktimus Primal's - Cruising Altitude

It seems like things are slowing down in the Paleo community sometimes and the topics are often getting a little far flung. I was starting to worry that perhaps the interest was dying out but I think what's happening is really much more. The movement has matured and the foundation material has been completed and it's actually gone somewhat mainstream. The movement may have done what Atkin's failed to do when it hit it's all time high and then all but collapses and that is reach it's cruising altitude

Groktimus Primal's - The Cause of Obesity

I just read a headline that said the cause of obesity remains elusive. I have to laugh, unless you're blind or illiterate I say go read Dr. Atkin's book. It will spell it out for you

If I really wanted to be strict enough I know i could lose even more of my weight (I was 400+ pounds).

Apparently Big Food's big money is still choking off the truth for many.

                        Groktimus Primal's - Rethinking Fatigue

I'm reading Nora Gedgaudas book Rethinking Fatigue and while it is a wonderful and informative book I must say I still don't believe I will ever fully understand all those darn hormones. It's seems like mother nature went a little crazy and was plain asking for trouble creating so many complex intertwined feedback loops. Was it really necessary? Was this the best all those years of evolution could achieve? No wonder I am screwed and dead to the world in the morning. I'm put together worse than a Chevy Volt!

                          Groktimus Primal's - Modern Medicine

It occurs to me that while the technology, knowledge base and tools have gotten so much better in modern medicine but the system itself coupled with the demands placed upon it and the doctor's lack of real effort to diagnose anything with a level of difficulty above that of a kindergartener we may actually be going backwards. Medical shows like House are some of the most popular on TV but unless you are Bill Gates or the President I don't see anyone getting a team of experts and a differential diagnosis with meaningful tests and investigative work. I see people sent home with whatever they came in with to continue suffering 90% of the time unless it's a clear cut case and even then the bill is freakin' huge.
