  • Groktimus Primal's - HFCS yet again

Groktimus Primal's - HFCS yet again

It's almost amusing but actually quite sad that everyday an article comes out showing how awful High Fructose Corn Syrup is (all sugar really) and the very next day a refuting article is published. Is the issue that complicated? Is there any real science being done? I don't think so. I don't believe an answer that is now so obvious even requires science at this point. After falling down I consider gravity more than a theory!

My idea is that the food industry outbid any real scientific interest and simply pay off 4 out of 5 scientists then they can claim 4 out of 5 scientists surveyed are willing to be bribed. Oh, that's right they already did that with government backing to boot

      Groktimus Primal's - Total Recall

Arnold Schwarzenegger's new autobiography is out and I'm presently reading it. I like the book but then again I've always found Arnold fascinating. He is truly a man that is larger than life. He's not perfect but he is "fantahsteek". It occurred to me while reading it that in some respects he was very primal. He really lived his life his way with joy and without compromise or apologies. His diet and supplements may not have been Paleo but it was certainly better than the SAD diet and he took care of himself even though he had to go to extremes to be the best. Perhaps my lot in life would be a bit better if I had a little more "Arnold" in me. If you like Arnold I recommend the book though I am far from finished with it. It would be hard to find a mere mortal with a more interesting life story.

Groktimus Primal's - This made my day!

The funniest damn news article ever. The Komen Foundation that supports breast cancer research (October is breast cancer month) has rejected an offered ongoing donation from the online porn industry. They were going to donate some amount based on the number of views their material got. I can't say I really blame them but it's kind of funny that the offer was made in the first place and a prudish stance was quickly adopted. I guess women's lib prevents the boobies from singing for their supper!

Groktimus Primal's - Mark on Rock Center

I saw Mark on Rock Center and their piece on gluten. It was even more disappointing than I expected. Mark was great for the whole 30 seconds they gave him. The story basically tells people that for the 1% of the population that shits blood after eating gluten, need a gluten free diet. It then (of course) says that's it's pretty much an unproven waste of time to avoid gluten otherwise. No body but Mark bothers to mention that all grains need to be removed and replaced with actual nutrition to really boost your health. Maybe this is the beginning of the master race. It all starts with a small group of people smart enough not to poison themselves!

Groktimus Primal's - Bees on crack

In France bee keepers discovered some of the bees were producing a blue-green honey. After researching the phenomena they concluded bees were eating the run-off from an M&M factory. It really hits home how appalling what we eat can be when it effects nature in such a way.

That reminds me of when I was a child and I would eat Boo Berry cereal and poop the rainbow

Groktimus Primal's - Too fat to kill

I saw the most unbelievable television special called The Half Ton Killer. It's both amazing and sad. A woman weighing over 1000 LBS claimed to have accidentally killed her sisters child by falling on him. Later someone figured out that it would not be possible because she was too big to get out of bed. She later admitted that her story was only to cover for her sister who had beat the child to death. The truth often is stranger than fiction.

Groktimus Primal's - The ultimate Primal ringtone

Are you ready? I discovered it by accident. "Hooked on a Feeling" as performed by Blue Suede. The song starts out with a great Primal chant... Ooga Chuka... Ooga Chuka. It's both Primal and funny as hell!

I also looked at "In the Jungle" by the Tokens as well but it's too high pitched and scratchy for a tiny cell phone ringtone.

                    Groktimus Primal's - Canned Beets

Today's secret ingredient is... wait for it... canned beets! Just kidding but although I try to keep the carbs low and beets definitely qualify as a root vegetable (as do carrots that I love) I have discovered that they are a great vegetable in a pinch. Have you ever tried canned carrots? I don't know what canning does to carrots but it sure makes them suck. Beets however seem either unaffected or even slightly improved. Canned produce is cheaper and lasts forever plus with that deep purple color they must have something good for you in them! We won't mention the joys of using the squatty potty after eating them though.

Today only (10/17/12) Sean Croxton has his ebook "The Dark Side of Fatloss" on sale for $10. It was $40 dollars. I'm sure it's full of good information but considering how many Primal type books I've read it wasn't worth $40 to me but $10 is a good value even if it just contains a little bit of new info or at least reinforces what I already know. It's probably a bit entertaining too.

                        Groktimus Primal's - Freedom isn't free

Take a look at John Stossel's take on the Steve Cooksey versus North Caroline case. It's positively brilliant. I am now a fan of John's. I think if even our colleges stop recognizing that speech without controversy is non-productive conformist speak we are in real trouble. When people are afraid to oppose ideas or fight against authoritarian wrongs the end is nigh!

I recently discovered that the Sparkpeople's website now supports data sharing with Fitbit and more impressively with the Aria Scale which for some reason hardly any websites support. It's not the greatest support as it seems to require a manual click everyday to pull the data and the graph is mediocre at best but it's a promising start.

Groktimus Primal's - Weight is the sign

I've often wished I were naturally thin (and I still do) but it occurs to me that virtually no one would change their dangerous eating habits just in an effort to be healthy if they did not want to lose weight so desperately. Weight seems to be a symptom that is the impetus for change because it's hard to ignore and even if you do it's visible to the rest of the world who will not ignore it. Also as one's health slides downhill and the weight increases it becomes much harder still to ignore it and if you do then you will be on the wrong side of the grass and you really won't have to worry about it.

As the comedian said... "Here's your sign!"

The time has come for another pilgrimage to Mark's former home which is the state of Maine. I take a couple of long weekends there a year and call them mini-vacations. I really love the state. It's pretty relaxing and I like cooler temperatures. The only real drawback is the lack of economic opportunities that would make living there a bit more challenging than many other locations but I guess that is part of the reason it has vacation appeal. Off season Maine is a sociopath's dream! It's quaint to live in a world that still shuts down at 5PM.

Groktimus Primal's - Balls or Brains?

I came back from Maine into the arms of hurricane Sandy. So far it's been very tame in my area of Massachusetts but yet schools and events were all cancelled before the wind was strong enough to extinguish a candle. When I was a child they thought about cancelling school AFTER approximately 8 feet of snow had already fallen. So I ask you, is it a lack of balls or did we finally grow a brain and just figure out another day in the life is not worth the increased risk? Here is the rub... If we did become smarter about safety then why is work NEVER cancelled? Perhaps because money is still more important than safety to our petty existence?
