  • If I didn't have about $10K in unexpected expenses (not... talking... about it), I'd have myself a nice kamado grill to replace Ol' Shaky, the trusty Weber. But I've done turkey on that baby; seriously good stuff. Grilled last night, probably will tonight too (beef burgers and salmon burgers).

Sure! I'll make sure it's basted with butter, too!

    • Whew! there for a minute there was some sexual innuendo concerning crock pots and chickens going on...now I see you really were talking about cooking.
If I just said LOL, I lied. Do or do not. There is no try.

      • Oooh- yeah, when I strike it rich I might have to think about one of those! Until then, I might see if I can talk my new roommate into letting me get a full-sized Weber since she has a yard for me to keep it in. We used to do our Thanksgiving turkey in it every year. I expect my parents still do, actually. None of this getting up at 5 am to start it. I think it took 4 hours and was just . . . amazing.

But even on my baby-sized one- if I could fit it in (a cornish hen was about the right size) then it was goooood.

        • The good things in life tend to involve getting hot and juicy. Just sayin'.

          • I've been deep frying turkeys for the last couple Thanksgivings.

            • That actually sounds really good- but I hear it's pretty dangerous. Particularly if you're an idiot and do so in an apartment (really, people? what made that seem like a good idea?)

I'm actually interested in getting my hands on a heritage bird. Turkeys used to be the size of CAFO chickens, more or less.

                • That actually makes more sense now. I mean, they wouldn't make something that isn't safe, right? Right?

I honestly don't have a response to this...I mean, I would like to say something clever, but all I can think about is going home and crying in the shower. Thanks, drssgchic.

                    • And now you know how it feels to be a girl.

Apologies for sharing that with you. There are times when I think it would be very nice if my hormones remained even so that I wouldn't have to wonder if it was just them that were making my world fall apart at a given time.

"Wear a condom or don't get laid." It really is not hard to say.

Ugh- that's the worst one. And of course, the stress just puts it off. This one is just irritation at my irrationality and the lack of progress I can make in my life while I'm being irrational.

I've discovered a slightly strange turn-on. Infertility. You can get it up and get off but you can't create little sprogs? Well, helloooo . . ..

yeah, i know. it should be that easy. for a long time, i don't know why, but i just didn't hold firm. "i'll pull out" and usually he did but sometimes he didn't in time. i sound like a real idiot, don't i? anyway, not anymore, because i have defined plans and they don't involve another child. for the past few visits home, i made it obvious that this was the way it was going to go. hopefully soon we can afford more permanent means.

                                LOL.

I totally shouldn't write this, but I remember when I was a young panda my mother complaining about that as a turn-OFF. The risk was gone! That was what made it exciting for her, even in her fifties, and after 8-9 pregnancies.

                                * Thankfully, this did not result in 8-9 children, however.
