Happy Father's day to the father of my children, and a great husband. I am missing my dad this week.

      • Thanks, you are very sweet! I plan to send your book back this week. I think I have figured out a version that doesn't feel so restrictive to me, and still allows the intestines a bit of rest.

        • No hurry. I still use the book as a reference, but obviously not all the time. I like his writing - he's funny Let me know if you want to borrow anything else I have!

            • Ruth, do you have anything on glycemic load? Not wanting to tweak or anything I swear, just curious as it appears to be something I never bothered with in all my dieting, at least not consciously.

              • Let me look. Unfortunately, at one point, I had every diet book in the universe. I now borrow them from the library, except occasionally I buy things to support authors (like Mark, etc.) who give so much freely.

                    • Ok 255 this morning, so 1.2 down for the week. Yeah, I am on my way.

My steps yesterday were a bit lower, just 6,200 and only 7 flights of stairs, but only because I did a few hours of gardening which takes more upper body work than much moving around. I got 5 rose bushes into the part of my yard that is a PITA to dig into and 5 perennials into the area where I have made a bed for them and 2 buckets full of weeds out of the beds. Odd that it didn't help my sleep last night though. My body just feels old all over today.

Today is a non-fast day. And I plan to get more of the compass rose that I am staining onto my deck done before the sun gets too hot. I also need to take my son out to practice driving so that he can get his driver's license this year. He has not driven since last summer, he has a low interest in driving, but essentially he needs the driver's license for ID, so we need to get him driving. When Dudla turned 15, the day she turned, she had her dad take her to get her learner's permit, and if her and I were in the car then she made sure she drove. Boo got his learner's permit at 17 is 19 now, never wants to drive, and of course I am ok with not having to drive around in traffic with a new driver.

                        • slow and steady will win this race.

I have been having, for quite a while now, all over body aches, mostly muscular, but some joint. I can't really explain them. The back issue this week is just the last in a series. I am beginning to think it is a side effect of the medication I take for my IBD. My IBD started to flare a bit, so I increased my dosage (actually up to what is prescribed:roll eyes and started the suppository form also. I am pretty sure that is about the time I started to hurt. The discomfort sort of moves around. My flare has subsided so I am going to drop the dosage down to a self prescribed 2 a day, one in the morning and one at night. (6 a day, 3 am and 3 pm is the actual script) Want to see if this helps. Tired of feeling old.

I just wanted to get the date I started down somewhere.

                          • If it does not turn out to be your meds, are you taking potato starch? It would make me feel the way you describe feeling. Debilitating pain is not conducive to movement. I would love to be able to have the success so many are having with it, but my path will be a different one!

In any case, hope you are feeling better soon!

                            • I am doing potato starch, but just started it regularly in the past week or so. However, worth the research, thanks.

Yes, the movement, well, I force myself to get things accomplished, but movement deemed not totally necessary are not included in my day right now (treadmill, plank, stairs, etc).

                              • So I just made a platform to use as a standing desk at home. Not quite finished. I just need to put a nice fabric on the top to keep the computer from sliding around and a 2x4 on the back to add extra support and as a back stop to make sure I don't push the computer off the back. Just in for a smoothie break, yum, it is very hot out, even though I was working in the garage out of the sun.

after it cools down, I will go out and work on the compass rose. As soon as Boo wakes up, driving practice
