  • yes, but she is also overly empathetic, and had planned to ask her to keep it home over this break, but then the break up and DD felt too bad for her to say anything. I am going to try to get her to message the girl via Facebook, or text and ask her to please leave the cat at home. Right now whether it is the cat or a cold, her body doesn't need the added stress of a cat allergy as final week is coming up.

    • Hello, 40s. That's great! Congratulations, Demuralist.

      • Thank you!

So yesterday morning I weighed 252.2 after the Cracker Barrel and then dinner. This morning after Thanksgiving debauchery I weigh 251.4! So I actually lost weight on Thanksgiving! Going to come as close to a fast as I can today but not going to stress about it.

I have to take DD to get her flu shot today, at Costco. So we are going into the abyss that is Black Friday. She need some winter boots as well so we will be taking a trip into DSW as well. We have decided that we will just take a deep breath, know that it will be a zoo, and just smile and observe the animals as we calmly look for the boots. We can do this.

Food yesterday went pretty well. Everything (except the gravy) was homemade from scratch. Even the dressing was made from homemade bread. So while not primal, it was traditional. I was very disappointed with the turkey though. It is the most expensive turkey I have ever gotten (live a happy life grazing on a farm near by, etc. insert scene from Portlandia!) and it was tough. I had to wrestle it to get the leg joints to break, finally had to use a cleaver, never did get the wings loose. Had to saw the breast meat loose. Now, oddly, it wasn't dry, and it came out of the oven with picture perfect skin. So I have put the leftover meat into the crock pot with the drippings and gravy and am hoping that low and slow will release whatever the heck it is that is binding that meat so tightly.

NEATall day standing till dinner then lots of sitting.

Sleep 97% efficiency!!!! slept 6:11 and woke up naturally well before the alarm (I keep an alarm set for 7am to try to keep my wake up time nearly consistent). Had only 1 restless episode of about 10 minutes.

I have got to say that I love having my kids at home, just hanging out chatting. The conversation we had in the Cracker Barrel was so worth the 8 hours of driving I cannot tell you! After we did the how is school going (DS told me that he is pretty sure he is going for Aeronautical Engineer, which -his words- 'means my children will become a doctor-DD- and a rocket scientist-him) we moved onto a variety of topics of conversation that would actually classify as serious adult conversation.

        • Sounds like your holiday was/is amazing!!

Oh hey, about the flu shot.. learned THIS year, do not flex the muscle in the arm.. leave it loose and it will not make your arm hurt. Worked for me.. DD tensed and she hurt for a couple days.

wonder why the turkey was so tough??!! hmmm.. you should not have to wrestle with your dinner

          • mmm, my flu shot hurt for a few days as well, I will have to remember to consciously relax that muscle. thanks!

I have to admit, I was irritated when I tried to loosen those legs. Would have left them it it had not been for the fact that DS and DH had been ragging each other all day about who got them. Then when they were eating them there were a lot of pieces and parts that were not meat. Almost half of those legs were not meat. I got it at Whole Foods, next year I will go back to Trader Joe's.

              • So DS and DH went shooting and DD and I went to get her flu shot and a pair of booties with some tread since she keeps wearing through the treads of her boots. So Costco's pharmacist had told me they would be open today and well they were not. So no shot. Rats. The Doc Martens we actually went for didn't fit one size too big next one too small. But we did end up finding another style that worked though not as well made or as thick a sole as the Dr Martens. We will take her for the shot tomorrow. The interesting thing is that there were no crowds and no traffic. So it is still good cause the weather was stunningly beautiful and we spent the afternoon together.

                    • Single D, as a resident of Nashville, I thought I'd ask if you've heard of a girl I saw in concert last night called Jenn Bostic, as she hails from around your way, she's possesses a cracking voice, not bad on the piano either!

Just thought I'd say, she's worth a look live, if you get the chance!

I'm not religious, but this song's a bit moving.

                      Cheers

*Whispers* Oh, and please don't tell anyone I got a tender side, it might ruin me rep....

                      • Geez DoubleD, you had me bawling. Thanks for sharing that, I had not heard of her that I remember, but one of my friends did some professional photos for Ms. Bostic (I checked our her Facebook page). I am not very good at keeping up with the music scene here. Unless you are a participant of some sort, it is near impossible. Though we did used to spend some time at the Bluebird Cafe before the show "Nashville" made it too famous to be able to get in! The cafe really does showcase new talent and used to be a great place to check things out. They also do a concert on the mountain series that we get season tickets to, but that has also been bitten by the tv fame bug and so doesn't tend to feature the newer songwriters as much as established ones anymore.

I can well imagine, some friends of mine visited your place and they said everywhere you turn there's someone who's playing, and there bloody good! Shame these things get commercialised, spoils it.

Looked up the Bluebird, gots to say they do put some music on....

                              • The bluebird is less than half a mile from my home. I think it seats about a hundred. Very intimate setting and a great way to see songwriters as they usually have their voice and whatever instrument they play. It is, or was, the real deal. There are very few here who aren't connected to the music business somehow, i am one of them. And yes there is all genre of music represented and I have not seen a bad show here. It is amazing.
