  • yes, I think about the same, some of the shiratki can use soy though, which I try to avoid.

Breakfast was a drink of the matcha powder with a cup each of the homemade coconut milk and homemade almond milk.
Lunch will be bouillon with butter (I froze my bone broth before I left for Tx, and didn't bother to thaw it since I am going to OH)
Dinner will hopefully be the noodles with broccoli and what ever kind of sauce I can come up with given the calories I have left. If the noodles don't come, then it may be chicken or leftover salmon.

I work today (and it is snowing, I may have to go in late to wait for the temps to get above freezing), and I plan to take two 50oz bottles of water with ACV (and stevia). That should keep me occupied and full till I get home.

    • Ok happy dance, the noodles came! I will have to check out the LC friends dd porn/recipes to see what I can find for 200 calories.

        • I am thinking I will do a bag of the noodles, a cup of broccoli, an Amylu Chicken patty (from Costco) and some version of this sauce...

          2 Tbs soy sauce
1/2 tsp or less (depending on your tolerance) chili garlic sauce
1/4-1/2 tsp minced garlic and ginger (I buy them jarred and preminced)
1 Tbs Peanut Flour (or peanut butter if you do that)-will probably switch out for a different nut meal.

The original poster says the sauce is 50 calories with the flour, and I have 67 left for sauce so that is perfect, and sounds yummy and decadent for a dd!

                • well, dinner....It ended up being pared down.

I did very well all day, sticking to my planned meals, then when I got home I decided to have a snack. 5 mini dill pickles and 1 slice of ham (.5 ounce), this was about 50 calories, so I was still ok. But we usually don't do diner until 7:30, and it was just 5:00. So some nibbling occurred, and although I didn't count or weigh, it obviously took me over my planned calories.

So by dinner, I am not really hungry, but I make it anyway, and eat it, except I don't make the sauce because I wanted to "save the calories".

What I learned....on dd's I just need to eat dinner at 5:00. We don't eat as a family at the table anyway (this is a subject for another time), and the boys are not eating what I am eating, so there is no reason for me to wait to eat with them.

My weight is up 1 pound from my last dd, and my rings are very tight.

I was feeling a cold coming on (dh brought one home) so I took a shot of nyquil and slept like the dead, so today I feel groggy, but not at all hungry.

Regarding the idea of a "fast" of some length of time, versus doing a dd...my morning tea is drunk at around 6am, on school days anyway. And dinner is generally 7:30. Even if I change the dd's to 5:30 I essentially get 12 hours give or take of no food/calories. The only way that will change is if I have a dd on a Friday (or Saturday) and sleep in on Saturday (or Sunday). So, as to a total fast on dd, not gonna happen. I can keep the calories very low for my morning tea and afternoon broth, but I don't currently see a reason to do anything more than that.

Anyway, my biggest issue yesterday, was that as I went to nibble, my brain was telling me that since I am not really totally on board with this until the 1st that there is no point in making the extra effort to walk out of the kitchen. So, technically, none of my dd's so far has fallen to the level prescribed by the protocol. We get back on Saturday, so Sunday will be my first full fledged dd, and Monday the 1st I will start the blood ketone monitoring. I will also monitor FBS, if I find more sticks in a store, otherwise it will have to wait until I do another order of the ketone sticks.

                  • I always count the "fast" from early dinner to breakfast..for me its @12 hours.

As to the blood meter. I hear you on even the glucose strips. I went to walmart and got a relion meter. Cheaper meter and cheaper strips. Of course i can only use it for fbs. My mom uses this one and she said its a good one.

                    • I get about 16-20 hours going from my UD to my DD. Probably 14-16 going from an UD to a DD. But, I don't really try that hard at it. If I'm hungry on an UD or have meetings all day, I eat.

                      • If I'm not in the "right" mental place, I don't do well either. Today I have to be on guard - that bounce up after continued "good" behavior can be a bad place for me to be - even if I know, logically, that these bounces are normal.

                          • I have to continually remind myself that the numbers are data points and work hard to keep all emotion out of it, especially doing uddd!

Since any calories ingested is breaking a fast, the tea that I drink first thing breaks the fast.

                            • Chris, you are on to something about getting your head in the game and keeping unemotional about it. It hard to do and takes constant self coaching.

                              • See the hardest part for me is not so much keeping myself unemotional about it but keeping myself from tweaking at every up turn of the numbers! That is actually why I had to step off the scale for a while.
