  • Ok.. I have just caught up here. So, you weighed early (like me HA!) are you sticking to LCHF still? I remember you stating that your skirts in the back have been gaping.. that signals loss even if the scale does not, correct?

    You know, technically you could still kinda track tonight.. count how many shrimp you eat, place your dip and the cocktail sauce with celery on a separate plate (which can be measured without drawing attention), calculate the celery and track the wine. Even if you get a rough estimate you can still be informed about what and how much for tonight so you do not have the "oh crap, no idea how much I consumed".

    • Oh I am totally still doing the LCHF! It is just the details of the macros I am now going to be able to figure out!

      I think that I actually gained the weight in the past week. It seems that it started to happen about the time the macadamia nuts entered the home. They are gone now, I would say luckily except the reason they are gone is that I ate them all!

      I can tell you that in the first 4 hours at work this morning I went to the restroom 8 times! I expect to see the loss from water weight, which if I am not mistaken is essentially what inflammation is right? I had a brief IBD flare Friday, so double dosed the meds and it was fine by Sunday night, but I think that my body retains water when that happens because I am losing so much of it through BM's (sorry TMI).

      Anyway...I think that you are right and I will just make a plate instead of stand around and dip and eat and dip and eat. Besides they are our BFF's they won't give a lick if I weigh things!

        • yes ma'am...

          you are definitely right, we do this card night about 2 or 3 times a month so I need to figure it out. Although I generally do the food and have finally gotten to where I don't do dessert anymore, except for their birthdays. We have been talking about switching on of those nights to bowling, we would be getting some more movement, but they would want to eat there. Mind you even if I wasn't on LCHF or Primal I dont' do hot dogs and beer or nachos or any of that other stuff they have (which I am told are very good versions of the junk, but still ewwewew!)

          • ok, who am I kidding, I cannot put the food away and not eat any of it. Until I am good at it I will ask BFF to help out, she usually does but they were in hurry on the way out last night. I did well, had counted how many celery sticks I had dipped and accounted for about a tsp of dip on each one, etc. Then started to feel full and just stepped back. Perfect. Played cards, had half a glass of beer (literally 4 oz, I have my own special glass for DH's home brew). Still good, then clean up. Geez what is it about cleaning up?
            Anyway, even the best food will cause a gain when you eat too much!

            OK Begin N=1!
            SW 2/26/13 =274.8
            CW=274.8 +1.2 (from yesterday)
            Sleep=6.0 89% efficiency=crappy!
            Urine Ketones=trace (weird)
            Blood Ketones= no data yet, but the monitor did come yesterday!
            Calories =
            Net Carbs =
            Fat=
            Protein=
            Steps = 7719

            Ok, so as soon as my detostix show some purple I will do a blood test, hoping to do both FBS and ketone for the first month.

            • I have the same problem....unless I put it away while everyone is still there.

              Think the beer caused sleep probs?

              • You know Chris.. you did good! You had a plan and followed the plan. Where you messed up is where there was no plan! I agree the beer could have been the culprit with sleep.

                • ok, I forgot that I also had 10 Pita Chips (I did count each one of these). Freudian I think, but anyway, that in combo with the beer, probably the sleep issue, as well as the intestinal discomfort I feel this morning. sad to think that it takes 4oz of beer and 10 pita chips to mess with my body, I assume once I get on an even kilter it will not be so sensitive.

                  Karin, you are right, the part I didn't plan for was the place where the issue occurred. BFF does usually help with putting the food away, and from now on I will be sure that even if she doesn't help I will start the food putting away as we are saying our (always long) good-bye.

                    • I agree, I don't really do the guilt thing anymore, now it is a learning experience that, assuming I learn it, will serve me well for the rest of my life. I bet eventually I even get to a point where I am so used to not eating while I put the food away that I won't have to do it with people around!

                        Right back on track and feeling good! TOM started today and I am having some trouble with water pooling in my ankles, which is not totally uncommon for me, except I am drinking a lot now so it is sort of weird. Also, still having issues with the skin on my face. It is breaking out, but not actually acne, more of a reaction. It has been going on for at least 6 months, but was only on my chin until the past few weeks where it showed up on the bridge of my nose between my eyes. I need to go to the dermatologist anyway, just need to remember to call for the appointment this afternoon.

                            • My official is March 5th the morning I go to the doctor's for my annual, I wanted to compare my scale to hers. But now that I am doing this I will be weighing in daily to compare it to the other data, mostly the ketones and BS numbers. I am using it as a data point now. I have added the ketones and sleep as things to follow in my MFP, I will add Fasting BS if I decide to go ahead and do it too (depends on how many times I am willing to poke myself).

                                I am getting into the groove again, it feels natural to me, not having to work it. DH's snoring woke me up at 4:40, I just got out of bed, couldn't get him to roll over and I was so irritated with him I would not have been able to fall back asleep anyway. Plus, I get up at 5:30 so it would have been a tease.

                                Lightly snowing right now, not sticking though so they didn't call school. Just as well since I woke up anyway.

                                I think that I will sit with the monitor this weekend and try to figure out exactly how to use it. Probably do a FBS test. I have never been able to get anything more than the first pink on the ketostix, so I am wondering if I don't just need to do the blood testing. Except that we have 3 college visits this month. Now that I was in such a rush to get the monitor, I wonder if I should wait. It sucks the the testing strips are so pricey.
