  • Actually I think that is pretty much what I will do. I wonder if I am not getting close to TOM, because I am thinking desserty type things, which I did not a couple of days ago. So, Thursday, I made a mix of melted coconut oil, cocoa powder, coconut, and stevia then let it harden in the fridge and ate it like a chocolate bar. It was yummy, but ate it after I had hit my macros.

Now, actually look back at the past 2 days (when I went over) my proteins were too high at lunch which led to them being high at dinner which led to looking for sweets? I think we already decided that when protein is high it has the same effect as carbs that are high. Gotta get back to 25g or less per sitting of protein. so, yes, I will allow the fat to creep up but be strict with the protein and carb.

    • Sure, Karin, throw in reason! So maybe, I stick to the macros as I figured them out, and toss in some extra fat on days when I am craving something or when I hit a plateau. If I don't answer a craving it ends up being a binge sooner or later.

      • Can you alter the macros on MFP?

        • I can't get the MFP macros exactly the way I want them. I can get them close, but exact. Although I know what I want them to be, it drives me crazy when it says I'm "over" on carbs, and I'm not!

            • You can tweak them some. Go to "Goals" (next to "Home"), then "Change Goals", then "Custom". For me, the problem is that I can't get it to give 20 g carbs. Grrrr.

                • I just ignore their goals because they add to them when the fitbit syncs anyway. I just know my numbers...1700/35/140/70

                  • A little bit of tweaking before I ate dinner allowed my macros to come pretty darn close to in line!

                    • Good job!

I think I'm pretty good on mine. Low on protein, but that was on purpose for the next day or two to see if I could get the appetite suppression of the fat

                        • It helps me a lot. While I have a decent idea of calories, I have NO idea of protein load (and, sometimes I'm off on calories, though journaling is helping me get better).

                              • I am trying really hard to decrease my time on the computer, so that means I try not to check out any new journals and generally don't go on the main forum. That is why I like the EMF thread so much. It is very positive (in the sense that no one is attacking or being attacked for what they write, but it is ok to write things that are not going well) and supportive and brought in people I had not seen before and some I don't see often.

I have made my news feed on MFP only show the EMF journal people. It is awesome cause it give nice little shots of what everyone is doing.

Ok, so yesterday went well, I am back on track. That was easy! Today I must go grocery shopping we have nothing in the house to eat!

On the sleep front. I was exhausted last night, it was uncomfortable to actually have to sit on the couch. So I decided to go to bed before I made a questionable decision regarding food. I got into bed by 8:45! Slept till 6:45! Actual sleep time was 9:11, with an efficiency of 92%!
