  • we are done the 23rd and I am more than ready.

I now have even more drive to pass that admin test.. Getting a job as an AP in a school would increase my pat enough to have this done as my insurance does not cover it. I wish I could get it done sooner though.

    • I am surprised that your insurance doesn't cover it.

I would suggest that you do a lot of research on it while you are waiting. I have known several people who have done it and not one of them would do it again, 3 of the 4 gained most of the weight back. Newer techniques may be less drastic, but the effects to the body in general were pretty devastating. Maybe with the banding they can control the rate of loss. quick losses, no matter how they come about, wreak havoc on the body.

        true..

I am researching like crazy and the bands have come a long way. It is sad that we are a state where it is not covered by insurance.

          • weight is down and it gets a sigh? You need an attitude adjustment girlie, and a focus redirection.

You may or may not end up saving the money for the surgery, you need to keep your focus on what you do now to be healthy. Cause the healthier you are going in the easier recovery will be. So maybe shift your focus away from losing and toward healthy since the number seems to be so stressful for you?

            Love Panera's power menu!

            • Wish I could get brain surgery to stop the binging. Too thin now for the weightloss surgery.

              • It gets a sigh because I have already been thus weight this week... Maybe I do need an attitude adjustment. Here is the thing, if I do not weigh, the weight goes up, invariably. When I do weigh I see bounce.. And yes I am tracking this in another area on MFP but it still causes anxiety and angst.

                • Well then yes, you need to figure out a way to turn it into a non-emotional data point. Purely another piece of information. I have to get on everyday as well, but for me doing that dilutes the effect of the number.

Yes, actually even I am too thin for the surgery. You have to be over 100 lbs at the time of the surgery (I am about 80) and the insurance company makes you lose 25 on your own so they know you are serious, before they will pay for it. Of course if I could lose the 25 I most definitely would not need them.

                  • -4, 320 again.

So disappointing news: it's looking like 2 years before I can get the surgery providing an AP position. The other option is maybe a year but that would mean surgery in Mexico... 2 more years of fighting the weight. I know the whole hysterectomy/hormone issue is really in play here in regards to the weight. So in the mean time.....

                    • Congrats on the down 4.

Maybe before then they will come up with a less invasive/less expensive way of doing the surgery, or you will slowly drop a smidge of weight every week and by the time you have the money will have lost enough that you don't need the surgery and you can spend it on something else.

                      • hmm.. thinking about a Y membership so:
                        1. I can do water aerobics for free as well as lap swim (easy on the knees don't ya know)
                        2. They virtually have a waterpark Lily could go to free daily.

yeah, other benefits exist but ya, know..

Still bummed I am without the $$ to so the surgery now.

                        • The Y is a great deal if you actually use it! When my kids were younger we went a lot, used the classes and facilities.

So you are letting yourself stress over something you have zero control over (for right now) and stress keeps the body from sleeping well and both stress and poor sleep keep you from losing weight. I would just check periodically with the insurance company to see what they cover, it changes constantly. Other than that you need a focus redirection (like the kids in your class I imagine, or even Lily sometimes?)!
