  • This past weekend was A-MAZ-ING! I learned so much and so did my mom and Lily. A couple of highlights:

    - I have a NORMAL ADHD daughter
    - I am blessed to have my daughter
    - God did not make a mistake. He has a design for her (we just do not know the plan yet)
    - Other people see her as beautiful and Fierce (I love this). The parents saw her as fierce in her devotion to her friends and sense of justice and in everything she does.
    - My daughter needs some sensory therapy (I just have been experimenting with a few things and responses are SO POSITIVE)
    - I have hope for my daughter, for the future, for her future

She is DEFIANTLY going to summer camp there. That place is amazing!! In fact, we are going to be doing more family camps it was that great.

This morning with her was fantastic (just after 1 weekend). I talked with parents that saw so much growth after a week at camp they are sending their kids for 2 weeks next summer.

Another plus: I ate gluten free (they were do accommodating) the food was awesome!

    • I hope you meant DEFINITELY as opposed to DEFIANTLY.

How very very exciting!!!! Reducing that stress in your house is going to make a huge difference in your life. Didn't know that your mom went as well, that is fantastic.

      • I'm so glad you had that opportunity and got some support (and that your mom went -- I know it's been helpful for my mom to come to trainings with us). Isn't there one in NM you can come to?

I find sensory so interesting...what makes it work? [Don't guess it matter -- it just does.] I saw some ladies this weekend who were making some weighted dresses to help with school. I've also seen some neat things like heavy necklaces, etc. that are supposed to be helpful.

        • Yes.. sorry, my brain and fingers are not working together. Yes, mom went too and it was good validation for her too to see that Lily is a normal ADHD kid and to hear from other parents and caretakers that they experience the same things we do. There were so many activities for them to do. She and I did a lot of archery together. So much so that I think I need to get a couple of bows and some arrows for us to do this together. I can have a large round bale of straw delivered to put the target on. It was so FUN! Its also something we can do together.

                  • Forgot to mention all the hiking I did this weekend. I was more stiff driving in the car than after hiking up and down the hill multiple times in the day. Oh, I was way out of breath and taking breathing treatments but I got great exercise. Also, I brought my Asics thinking that would be a good choice with the terrain. NOPE. I was SO GLAD I also brought my NB barefoots. My feet hurt so bad in the Asics and felt so great in the barefoot ones. Rocks, sticks etc?? It did not bother my feet one bit.

                      • ok, after checking out your pins, for the blanket I really think the easiest thing to do is to get a cheap comforter, get the plastic pellets (I have gotten some of these in the not too distant past but cannot for the life of me think of where or why, when I do I will get back to you). weigh out the pellets to get you 10% of Lily's weight, divide those into the number of squares on the comforter, make a tiny snip in each square, add pellets, use fabric glue to fasten hole shut, voila.

                        • for the compression shirt, again goodwill, get a runner's shirt in a size that is a bit too small for Lily.

so get more of a quilted comforter? I wonder if I can find one at goodwill. I was thinking, even if its ugly I can put it all on a duvet cover right?

Have you looked at eBay? They have some as well.
