  • 40 by 40 - a primal experiment

Yesterday was my son's birthday party, and as I mentioned in my "rules" for this project, birthdays were going to be a non-primal eating splurge. Add that fact into my mother-in-law attending the party with some choice remarks to friends (where does she come up with this stuff?), and yes, cookies were overserved into my mouth.

So. Woke up this morning, and I'm ready to get back to the primal schedule. Normally after a day of overindulgence, I'm feeling guilty and angry with myself and all that crap. Today instead, it felt like a permitted part of my plan instead of a derailment or the beginning of a slippery slope of bad carbs.

Today's goals: no sugar, no wheat. Whee! Off to cook up some eggs.

Stay strong! Good for you for not feeling guilty and angry. Beating yourself up does not lead to success.

Yeah, thanks for the encouragement! It always makes me laugh when I catch myself acting like: "wow! I'm so <angry/stressed/carb craving/what have you> I'm going to eat in such a way I'll give myself diabetes! That'll fix the situation!" OK. Stop. Take a breath.

I don't know you and don't know a thing about you. Hell, I don't even know if you're a guy or one of those heavenly creatures known as girls, but what I DO know is that you and only you are in charge of you so take charge and to hell with what anyone else has to say. I might be reading this wrong, but I'm taking it that the M-I-L's comments to others where directed at you. Fuck her. Seriously, in the grand scheme of things she makes not one grain of sand on your beach so you take care of you and politely ignore the shit out of her.
