lab ranges are just an average of the results, if the ranges keep dropping more and more sick people are being tested.

10 years ago thyroid lab ranges in the US were similar to Canada and Australia, now the top of the range is 65% of the range used in the commonwealth.

        • OK!!

i have no idea when it happened, but i have leveled up again in my thinking ( or is it leveling down) and now i am having trouble connecting with any one or thing i used to find important.

          some examples.

When did i find it annoying to read fiction versus listen to it?
When did i lose my taste for Star Trek, or Star Wars?

When did i decide that most of the information available is so tainted that my own research is totally preferable to some PhD's research.

I wonder if it has to do with the simple fact that my health is 1000% better with my own guidance and the fact that my conversations with my MD go as follows

MD: you are looking great, what are you doing

Me: None of your business, now here are the tests i want run, you find a code which will make my insurance pay like a good little bitch, OK?

MD: but i dont know how to read these tests.

Me: I know, dont worry about it, i do.

MD: I want you to cut back on the fat in your diet

          Me: ........... <smile>

MD: see you for a followup

That's not leveling up or down. It's called maturity, self-reliance, and personal evolution.

And I love your MD convo. They can't argue with the kind of results you are getting.

You are an amazing person, Honey Badger.

                  • YAY!!! I love the talk with your MD. Did you call him/her a bitch?

I live for the day I can say things like, well, how many hours of nutritional training did you have in med school... because I already know the answer. I am not a success story, no significant weight loss, cholesterol and insulin numbers all jacked, but I will be. I can't wait to get retested for insulin resistance and my doctor who wanted to put me on metformin say how did you lose the weight and regain sensitivity. Another good thought for moments of impending food weakness!

Why don't you like Star Wars or Star Trek anymore?

                    • I can explain why someone doesn't like Star Wars, Disney bought them. As for Star Trek? Who knows.

Muscle. I am starting to build up a lot of it. I can do 1/2 pull ups now as well as inverted crunches. can i please drop more fat while i gain muscle is it making my scale weight creep up and i dont like it.

                          • How amusing that, instead of saying "it has been about n months" you say "it has been about 80 pounds"!

                            You go, Honey Badger!

                              • That's great... I can't do a pull up yet. I still try, though, so I think that counts (I can't quite get my feet to leave the floor).

You are looking good, Quelsen! I do understand about the adding muscle / not losing weight thing. I'm doing heavier kettlebell work, and my jeans are still fitting, but my scale weight is obscene. Heck, I've got a couple of pair of jeans that have gotten a bit too baggy - but the scale has gone up. it is annoying as hell.

Old Star Trek. I don't mind you losing your taste for the new version...
