Ok so here goes! Been lurking for a few months so now it's time to jump in and start being part of this awesome community!!

Little about me: I'm 40-something (damn I hate admitting that!), 5'4" and about 30# overweight. I found the Primal Blueprint and MDA a few months ago and have been devouring everthing. This lifestyle just soooo fits with how I want to be. My life in the past two years has been filled with a lot of changes, a lot of stress and as a result, very limited exercise, poor eating choices and too many bottles of Jagermeister

That changes today! I'm committing to my own 30 day challange. Only primal food (no cheats!), no drinking and probably the harder part, no smoking. I quit smoking for 6 years and one bad day at work and I was hooked again. I currently have an office job which limits my activity during the day. I need to start getting more active again, and if the weather in New England ever wants to cooperate, spend more time outside. My SO and I are hoping to relocate to South Carolina by the end of this year. Hopefully if my house sells soon, we may be able to move sooner

    Breakfast
    2 HB eggs
    Lunch
Leftover pork chop, tomato and 1/2 avacado
    30 minute walk
    Dinner
Propably steak, mashed cauli and spinach/brussel sprouts

Hopefully I'll be able to get another walk in after work. Need to start incorporating the 5 Essential Moves in today too!

Hi WinkBlu, I look forward to reading about your journey and offering a kindred spirit to gripe with
Keep your journal going, it has given me more accountability than I anticipated. I made a personal commitment to be 100% honest with my food and alcohol tracking on it, and it has prevented many bad consumption choices already.

Well, Day 3 is almost over...huge sigh of relief!

              Yesterday wasn't bad, food wise
              Breakfast:
2 HB eggs (or what was left after struggling to peel them!)
              3 slice bacon

              Lunch:
              Leftover hamburger, lettuce, tomato
3 primal jalapeņo poppers (OMG YUMMY)

              Dinner:
              Primal Salisbury steak, mushroom, onions
              steamed broccoli

              Alcohol: ZIP

I didn't get any activity in yesterday as I skipped my lunch break so I could leave early, only to have the oh so lovely NE weather start raining when I did get home I really can't wait to move out of NE!! I need sunshine and warmer weather.

Didn't sleep well last night, which has been a recurring problem for the last few months. I originally attributed it to the alcohol, and I hope within a few days I get all the crap out of my system so I can finally get a good nights sleep. Took calcium and magnesium last night but not sure if it helped much.

Today has been emotionally trying and it was pretty hard not to stop at the package store on the way home, but I didn't Still no opportunity for activity due to my schedule today and now I'm just emotionally, mentally, and physically tired.

              Breakfast:
2 eggs scrambled with red onions, red peppers and butter

              Lunch:
              Leftover salisbury steak and broccoli

              Dinner:
Not sure yet as I only have the S.Steak leftover and nothing "dinner-y" in the fridge :-/ Might just cook up some bacon, veggies and call it a night.

I feel kinda awkward putting everything out there in this journal, but I hope as time goes by and as Superellen suggests, it will give me the accountability I need to really life the primal life I want.

Yeah, having a journal can make a huge difference. I found it altered my approach to being Primal, and thinking about everything more consciously (since I was writing it down -- kinda) has helped when temptations have arisen.

                  G'luck, WinkBlu!

Sometimes it can take a while for you to undo a magnesium deficiency enough for it to affect your sleep. I didn't notice a change until a couple weeks of taking a full dosage religiously right before bed.

Keep up the awesome work, you are doing great!

AAARRGG! Well here I am, having fallen hard off the damn horse. Lying in the dusty dirt. I haven't posted in two weeks!
                      So much for starting strong

While lying here in the dirt, I've decided it's up to ME to make the changes I want to see. No letting my day at work, or my SO's day at work, or an unexpected emergency determine whether I slip into having a drink after work or making bad food choices! The last two weeks have WAY too of those. So today is a new day, right???

I took measurements this morning (I've broken up with the scale, but allowed myself one last weigh in). And the stats aren't pretty at all. As a former gym rat with a closet full of really cute clothes that don't fit anymore, I'm seriously bummed and frustrated. Hoping if I have the courage to post my stats, maybe (hopefully) it will hold me more accountable.

                      Female, 40-something
                      5'4"
                      162.7

Food is IF, then two eggs and two strips bacon. Dinner will be swordfish and citrus pesto with spinach or kale. If the weather continues to cooperate, I'll be able to get a walk in after work. If not, I'll do yoga or Zumba. No booze in the house so that tempation won't be there. Nicotine patch on the arm, so the smokes are gone too.

I bought a Kindle last week and bought the Primal Blueprint for it. I already have two hard-copies, but I'm hoping that since I always have the Kindle with me, I'll re-read pertinent chapters often as motivation.

                      About it for now....

                        Woohoo! it's Friday

This week has been pretty good. Spot on with food, haven't really gotten any exercise in, and did have a few drinks last night...but all in all a good week.

Since my Geek (significant other) and I had a few drinks last night, we didn't make anything for dinner, so food for work today was a serious "hunter-gather" deal.
                        • Breakfast - 2 steamed egss, handful of almonds, coffee w/cream
                        • Lunch - (this is were I got creative!) Nice ripe tomato, can of tuna w/mashed avacodo....YUMMY!

Work has been kinda hectic the last two days as my boss is back in the office (part-time) after been out for an extended period recovering from surgury. And of course I had to set up for the Department Heads meeting this morning, which means bringing in "refreshments"! Lol at least instead of hitting the local bakery I started buying yogurt, fresh fruit, granola and the occassional pastry for the die hards! And I've actuallyl been thanked by a few Dept Hds for the choices! Now if I could find a way to bring in eggs, bacon, some veggies .....

The weather in CT has FINALLY decided to cooperate with some sunshine, so hopefully a walk downtown after work!!

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a really GREAT soup recipe, the Thia inspired scallop soup from the Quick and Easy Meals cookbook to TO DIE FOR!!!!!!

Wow, it's been a month since I've posted in my own journal How sad is that? Decided this weekend to stop "tinkering" around with Primal and jump in 100%. I really don't have much of a problem with eating primally as I love all primal foods and have come to hate the way any type of grain/carb makes me feel. The hardest part for me lately has been the alcohol. Things in life the past few months have been way to stressful so a few drinks after work have become habit. Time for a change.

I've started using Fitday again, and was very surprised to find that the rum and cokes I've been drinking have LOADS of calories and carbs. Not like I didn't KNOW this, but actually putting it in Fitday and seeing the numbers was eye opening. Adding to the disappointment of having a closet full of cute clothes that don't fit me was I think the catalyst I needed.

So today's food so far has been:

Meal 1: Two hard boiled eggs, 4 slices bacon

Didn't bring anything for lunch so I'm going to go walking for 1/2 hour. Shopping tonight so dinner will probably be a steak or pork, brussel sprouts or kale and maybe a salad.

That's about it for now. Back to work
