  • WHOLE30 Starts Today! (3/30/2011)

    So I know a bunch of people are starting on April fools day but I cannot live without health another day. I am starting this journal to record each day what I eat, how I feel, and how I move. Hopefully with some pictures.

    I plan on using Rob Wolf's Paleo matrix to help me build my meals, so expect some strange one-pot combinations.

    awesome, looking forward to it!

    I'm not doing a whole-Whole30 but I am going to be way more careful about sugar and gluten this month. I've had a bad couple of weeks!

      Day one done.

      Did LHT today for exercise - started a brand new 5x5 routine. Very easy to start, using the Stronglifts method, but still challenging for some muscles I never use.

      I had potroast around 11pm and then after the gym around 8PM my body went from not that hungry to CRAVING MEAT. My muscles were already sore from squats earlier in the week so I think they were just in need of protein. THat being said, I rushed to the store, bought a pound of ribeye, and consumed it all with a side of mushrooms and bell peppers.

      Overall I am feeling pretty good. Let's see how tomorrow goes!

        funny how when you work those muscles, they tell you what they need! Mine did that in a big way when I got back from vacation & started working out again.

        My day was a giant fail. Dad made my very favorite cookies for choir practice, the ones Mom used to make. I'm just going to eat them, and focus on the rest of my food/exercise best I can.

            Glad to see you doing this Dual!!!! I remember your post on your food issues so good going! Starting tomorrow, I'm doing a 30 donbala Days of Not Being a Lazy Ass. March has been a hell of a month so I need this. I'll keep visiting to see how you're doing.

              Day 2:

              Hungry despite eating enough.

              Carb flu.

              Want potatoes.

              Breakfast: hamburger meat

              Lunch: chipotle (double steak, salsa, guac only)

              Dinner: pot roast

                btw your food looks awesome.

                Some people find that adding fat (butter, coconut products, etc) helps with the hunger.

                Good luck with the carb flu. It's not fun but it is temporary.

                  Went to lunch today - got roast beef with tomato sauce. ASKED THEM if the sauce had HFCS. The waitress said "yeah, its sugar free." Comes back after the meal when I am finished and says "Oh sorry, it actually has HFCS, whoops. Hope that wasn't too much of a bother."

                  THey wouldn't refund my meal.

                  I have made a rule my whole 30 doesnt finish until I actually go 30 days. I'm tired of bullshit.

                      UGH! Didn`t you just want to throw it all back up in her face? Eating out is so challenging when you`re trying to be good. I do great when hubby`s not in town but when he comes home I get less strict. Not this month!! Ima gonna be a hard ass!

                        I've started the Whole 30 today. Only 2 meals into it, but miss butter and cheese. Not really missing them, but having to work around them a lot.

                          Day 3(1) - I put it like that because I have to start over on Whole30 because of the HFCS in my meal yesterday.

                          The day is a little more than half over so I haven't eaten everything I intend to eat but I think I've found a system that works for me. It is warm eough outside to go for walks again and I live about 15 minutes from a grocery store. My intent is to do my 30 minutes of daily walking by walking to the grocery store to buy my meals every day. That means my food will always be fresh and I can get some daily exercise.

                          I am also using the Robb Wolf Paleo Matrix (found here) to plan my meals. I pick one random food combo and get enough for all my meals. That is generally 1.5 lb meat and a medium size of veggies. Today was ground beef, avocado, olive oil, and curry powder. Very very good!
