  • Croup? Aagh. Our baby has pretty similar symptoms, we're off to the doctor in about an hour ourselves... I'm sympathetic!

Wow, sounds like classic sugar escalation of appetite! At least the bagel was good -- if you're gonna eat off-plan it had better be good at least, eh?

      • Clearly. She may or may not be officially croupified, but the doc said it basically doesn't matter, just watch to make sure she doesn't turn blue. How reassuring!

        • yeah it can be scary. has your older baby ever had it? i had to take my oldest in to the ER when he was 3 because croup left him so short of breath that he couldn't even sit up. it was quite scary, but he's still here and healthy.

          • No, this is the worst I've ever heard a babe of mine, respiratory-wise. I'm sure she'll be ok, it's just unnerving, especially since a cousin's baby died of SIDS around this age. We have a breathing monitor but it's too buggy to help.

Scariest overall would be when Buglet had meningitis at ten weeks. We spent a week in the hospital. She's okay though!

Rest well as much as you're able. I'm sure you need it. Thanks for listening!

            • oh my, meningitis! was it bacterial or viral? think that's way scarier than croup!

              • Viral, but of course they can't tell until doing a culture, which takes days after you've been admitted to the hospital, so we really didn't know how dangerous it was or wasn't.

Thankfully her fever didn't stay high for too long; we got her to the hospital and cooled her down right away. It had flared up during a car ride and so it was very obvious when we went to unload her that she had a fever. If it had happened after bedtime I hate to think how she would've been doing by morning...

She and I both got it at the same time. Her dad had it first (brought it home) but we had no idea since he tends to get neck and backaches.

Both kids are coughing less now, definitely on the mend fast. What a relief! How's your kidlet now?

                • he's mostly better. he's at least sleeping again during the night, and not coughing quite as often. the older two are sick, too, but now i can't tell if it's because they're sick, or because we're renovating the bathroom. i can't wait until this is done!

                  • Mmmm...yummy primal chocolate pudding! i mixed room-temp cream cheese, a bit of the cream from the top of coconut milk, chocolate powder, vanilla, and a tiny bit of powdered sugar with a mixer until it was really smooth. just a little will do!

                    • Yay sleeping! And... huh, cream cheese? Does it taste cheesy? My husband is into chocolate pudding but hates cheese.

                      • not really. cream cheese gives it a slightly sour taste, but it's very slight and adds depth to the flavor. you could use more of the fatty coconut milk and less of the cream cheese; after refrigeration it will still be really thick.

                          leg lifts
wider-stance squats, w/ and without weights (2 paint buckets)
                          thigh rolls
some other stuff that i don't remember

resting now while watching jamie oliver's food revolution. i want to be built like jessica biel. granted, she's tall and probably has a staff of personal trainers and chefs, but she's still well built.
