  • Blisters are much better. I don't normally care to much about your average blister, but these where not average blisters. These were advanced blisters. They kind of looked like a leper with stigmata.

Went back today and did some work. So that will be today's workout. Brought gloves today, so no repeat of the other day. I brought my lunch today to avoid the concern from all around that I have an eating disorder or something, and for them to feel the need to want to discuss nutrition with me. Took a leftover pork steak and a banana. And plenty of water, but that goes without saying.

    • I've been AWOL from here for a little while, but I'm still here. Did some more volunteer stuff, and had a good time. The construction part is done for a little while, we got the foundation poured. The other day I was helping them set up a kids day with water slides and games and stuff. Since I was helping out they gave me some free passes to bring the kids. We were going to go on Sunday, so of course a huge thunder storm blew in and lasted all day.

Saturday and Sunday were a complete un-primal train wreck. I didn't just fall off the wagon, I drove the wagon off the fucking cliff. Saturday was an ungodly amount of pizza, followed by a pint of Americone Dream ice cream, and finished up with some sugar cookies. Sunday started out OK, but when we couldn't go to the park we took the kids to Rainforest Cafe(we promised them we would take them one day, so since we couldn't do what we wanted to do). In case you were wondering, it's incredibly over priced, and the food is at about the level of going to Chili's. We ended up getting this chimichonga appetizer thing, and then I got a BBQ bacon cheese burger with onion rings. Desert was this thing that is basically donut holes covered in powdered sugar with caramel and chocolate dipping sauce. That was lunch, so dinner was the leftover pizza from the day before, and a handful of frosted oatmeal cookies. The two day wheat fest left me feeling like I was about 6 months pregnant. I also found that my body was not happy with all the gluten and other crap I put in it. How can i put this without seeming too vulgar(since, you know, that's just not me)...my body felt the need to purge itself of all the bad stuff i put in it. I'm done with the non-primal stuff for a good long time. The feeling like crap is what keeps me on it as much as the weight I've lost. I still shake my head when I realize that I used to feel crappy like that all the time and thought it was just normal.

Oh, and I've cut back just a little on my coffee. I'm doing it by just using a smaller coffee mug. Basically, I used to use a stupid-big mug, and now a use a normal people sized one. So now my 3 cups of coffee is what normal people would consider 3 cups of coffee.

      • Glad to see you back, Skink. Your volunteer work sounds satisfying. Hope the weather cooperates for you to go out to the park soon. I will not mention the food situation. Good luck.

        • Thanks Sabine. We'll be using our free passes at the park tomorrow. No rain in the forcast, but it will be 92 degrees.

Two days of good food and I'm feeling much better. Right now I smell stew cooking in the crockpot and can't wait to eat it. The smell is awesome and driving me crazy.

In the spirit of tall the superhero movies that have been coming out, I'd just like to say that Deadpool rocks!

            • Been gone for a bit. Been taking care of moving business. The move is all done. We're all moved in but still need to unpack.

Here is the view from the back yard.

Here is my new weight set.

              More weights.

I wish I could say the food has been primal during the move, but I can't. Had a 3 day road trip that was pretty bad, but I staying good now. Tonight wasn't great because Mom-in-law was cooking. Pulled pork and mashed potatoes. The sauce for the pork was basically ketchup and brown sugar, and the mashed potatoes had margarine instead of butter. I'll see if i can't educate them, but I doubt they will listen. They aren't very adaptable and fear change.

                • Looks like you'll have the heavy lifting and sprinting taken care of! Looks like lots of space for the kids, too. Glad the move's over and you're settled in, man.

                    • Thanks everyone. The move went well, and everyone is settling in. Unpacking, however, sucks ass. It seems we have more stuff than places to put it. Oh well, we'll figure it out.

Haven't had a real workout in almost 2 months(with the exception of moving boxes), so today i went out and did something. Nothing crazy, I want to be able to move in the morning. Warmed up with some stretching and mobility stuff, and then took a walk with the little one, wife, and dog before starting.

                      Today's workout:

Using a brick for weight - 3 repetitions of 5 front squats, 5 overhead presses, 5 push-ups(close grip on the brick)
                      1 minute rest
                      10 pull-ups(on a tree branch - no pull-up bar yet)
                      1 minute rest
                      repeat with brick
                      1 minute rest
                      10 pull-ups
                      1 minute rest
                      repeat with brick
                      1 minute rest
                      10 pull-ups

                      about 2 minute rest

3 laps jumping up and down from stone to stone around the fire pit(stones are used for seats and range from 12-24 inches tall)
                      1 minute rest
2 more laps around the fire pit

Felt good to workout again. It has been too long. After I took cold shower to cool down, and to make sure I don't get too sore later. Cold showers up here are much colder than in Florida. Down there it was only cold for a minute and then warmed up. Here it is COLD. I imagine as the temps drop it will get even colder.

Staying good food wise. Dinner was salad and hamburgers, breakfast was bacon and eggs. All is regular store brand stuff, but it will do for know. Had to use regular whole milk in my coffee which kind of sucks. Mother in law doesn't have cream(I'll have to rectify that). I thought I saw some sticks of butter in the fridge and got excited, but as I pulled them out I saw where the package said Vegetable Oil Spread...Grrrrrr.

                      • Today's workout:

Hill Sprints - I estimate it at about 50 to 60 meters up the hill

2 slow paced to warm up
5 full sprint(catching my breath as I walk slowly back down the hill)

                        10 push-ups, 5 pull-ups X 3

Quick workout today, but those sprints took a lot out of me. My legs were pretty wobbly at the end.

Getting ready to fire up the fire-pit and do some outdoor cooking. Burgers for me, and hotdogs for the rest.

                        • Today's workout:

Warm-up of carrying a kettlebell and Bulgarian bag out into the field where I workout.

2 sets each side of 5 KB Swings, 5 high-pulls, 5 snatches, 5 clean and press, and 5 lunges
                          Chin-ups, 3 x 10
                          Push-ups, 3 x 20
                          Thrusters(with a cement block, around 60 or so lbs) 2 x 10
                          Bulgarian bag squats, 2 x 15
...and the hardest part of the workout was carrying the kettelbell and the bulgarian bag back to the garage.

i am doing the chin-up/pull-ups on a big tree branch. the thicker grip gives a hell of a grip workout.

                          • Today's workout:

                            Max reps in 10 min.
                            5 push-ups, 2 pull-ups, 5 cement block thrusters

Plyometric jumps around the fire pit stones
2 laps, rest, 2 laps, rest, 2 laps

Short workout, but intensity was high. I was pretty spent at the end. Took a cold shower to cool down. No breakfast in the morning so I had bacon eggs ans a banana foe lunch. Now we are off to take the kids to a birds of prey show at the park. Should be fun.

                            • We all had a fun day today. The birds of prey thing was fun. The oldest was interested for the whole thing, but the little one wanted to go for a walk about halfway through(not bad for a 4 year old I guess). All the kids were thrilled they got to see a bald eagle poop.

After we went to the playground. The little was already there playing with another little girl. I'm glad the kids are able to make friends easy in this area. In South Florida the kids were just weird and antisocial. Our timing was good since the other little girl had to go home just as we got there, so her sister and I took over having fun with her. They wore me out pretty good. I was still a little fatigued from the morning workout, but I couldn't resist climbing on the monkey bars and playing a good game of tag. If I give them a good head start I really have to sprint to catch them.

We decided that since it was such a nice day we would cook outside. Hotdogs over the fire for the kids, and steaks for us once the wood burned down to good hot coals for cooking over. One minor irritation though: I had taken the steaks out to sit on the counter to bring them up to room temperature before putting them on the grill. My mother in law saw them out and put them back in the fridge. She thought "Oh no! You can't leave meat out!" I realize that she doesn't know the first thing about cooking and wouldn't know what to do with real food if she ever saw it, but don't EVER touch my steaks.

Here are the steaks cooking. This is much better than indoors.

                              And they tasted awesome.

                              • I like the animal cut-outs on the side of the grill. I couldn't make them all out, but I thought how cool it would be if you could cook meat from all those animals. Almost like the grill being a totem, calling those animals to it.
Yes, I am a little weird.
