  • I'm sorry about your back problems, Winencandy. Very disagreeable.

When my father's back bothered him (also disc issues), he used to hang from the door frame to get relief. Don't know if this is worthwhile, but I thought I would throw it out there.

It is surgery though, with all that entails. Still, it may be worth getting a referral to a neurosurgeon.
I asked my Chiropractor today about microdiscectomy. She said there are "red flag" warning signs that indicate surgery might be needed. She asks me about them every session. I have none of them.

        I'm glad.

I have never had surgery. Never been "under". Never.

Hmm, I'll see if I can find my chin-up bar...it must be around here somewhere...

I took my Daughter back to Fowler Kennedy for a re-evaluation.
          Not good.
          It's her ACL.
My Daughter is NOT a happy Camper.
And she doesn't want to talk about it.
They are booking her an appointment with the surgeon.

She tore her other ACL 2 years ago. She knows what's coming.

We stopped at the chiropractor's office while we were in London.

I was home by 12:30 and on the combine by 1. I got off the combine at 7.

When I got home, my sister was here, with a computer problem. Solved in about an hour.

          I'm tired.

          But my back feels OK

          For now.

          • Glad to hear you have no "red flags" that would indicate surgery, but it is starting to look like you need something more than what you're currently getting, since your flare ups seem to be getting more frequent. Some further rehab/preventative sorts of things, though that's not my area of expertise. I dunno. The hanging from a bar certainly couldn't hurt.

Going "under" for anesthesia is not so bad. I chose a general anesthesia for my knee surgery 3 years ago (partial meniscectomy) even though a spinal anesthetic is more common, as I don't like the thought of needles into my back. In went the IV, then as the first med went in (fentanyl - a strong narcotic pain med), I instantly felt "warm and swirly". He held the mask in front of my face, I inhaled the gasses once or twice, then the next thing was waking up in recovery. No nonsense, and the warm swirly thing was rather pleasant.

Not good about your daughter's knee, hopefully the MCL injury is not as bad as the last one. And that she doesn't have to wait too long for the surgeon consult. I'm sure she's also thinking about how time off may impact her senior year on top of the sports limitations. That sucks big time.

Yeah, I might need something "more" if it doesn't get better soon.I'm gonna try the bar.

Yup. Senior year and no soccer. She's pissed.
I'm worried about surgery timing. She's got a school trip to Paris/Barcelona in March, and then there's mid-term and finals...

              • Friday

I thought that we were assembling the set for the play Friday morning and I drove the 15 minutes into town.
                It was NOT on Friday
I came back home and did boring house stuff and prepared the lessons for my Home Instruction Student.
Home Instruction from 1-3 and then I got groceries. Surfer Son was working, so he helped me carry things out to the car. When I got home my back seized up and I had to wait before I could get out of the car I went into the house and laid on my back on the living room floor with my legs up on the couch. After a while I was able to bring in the groceries.

After a supper of pork tenderloin, cauliflower and rice(!) I went to my friends and soaked in her hot tub and drank wine.

I think it helped my back

                • Saturday

The set assembly was this morning I was there from 9-1pm. It looks great! Not quite done yet, but it looks great, so far.
In the afternoon I accomplished some more boring house things. As long as it didn't involve anything below waist level...

It's 8:45 and I'm debating either climbing into my claw foot tub or going to bed.

                  Exciting Saturday night at winencandy's...

                  • At this point, a hot bath sounds pretty exciting. Probably really good for your back too.

I keep promising myself I'll take a hot bath and I never do it. Too used to the morning shower.

                      • Great video wineandcandy. Nothing like starting your day with a good cry! My most favorite job was working with military families in L&D. We had to be very creative to have dads "attend" the birth at times.

                          • Okay, I cried too.

My uncle fought in WWII, the only one of the brothers old enough to go. My dad served in the Air Force, but was just the right age to hit only peace.

                              • Sunday

I took the Butterflies with me to the Remembrance Day ceremony. There were other dogs there too. Mine did NOT bark

It was a BEAUTIFUL day! I cut my rosemary and dumped out both the rosemary and basil pots. I put the summer chairs in the green house and I debated planting some bulbs I ordered from a school fundraiser, but my back said NO. So I took the Butterflies for a walk on the beach instead

Supper was roast chicken and all the "fixins" Surfer Son brought his NEW (1st) girlfriend for supper!
