    I enjoyed it
Maybe too much this weekend (too much sugar - I was a "good girl" with the wine )

In the morning I felt kinda bloated and sick.
      ? The Lindt balls?

We drove to Wyoming and bought 175 feet of antique double loop fencing I found on Kijiji.

The afternoon was spent packing and getting ready to go to a young friend's (28th) birthday party. At the party I had one gin & pink lemonade, a glass of rose (that didn't taste "right") and then a couple of glasses of a white wine from a friend*

I took a crockpot full of pre-made, battered chicken wings. The meal was totally non primal - battered chicken wings, meatballs, hashbrown potato casserole, taco salad cheesecake AND one of the girls brought a Skor/cream cheese/brown sugar dip for apples. OMG!!! I ate too much of it, (I couldn't STOP) and felt sick and bloated for the rest of the evening. So much so that I stopped drinking after supper. I even laid down in the backseat of the truck for about an hour. I had mineral water for the rest of the evening. We were home by 11.

*I'd actually gone over to where my Farmer was to get the keys so I could go home for a different bottle of wine and my friend said "go get a bottle out of my truck" He had a BOX full of assorted wines in his truck!

      • Sunday
Slow morning. Roasted a chicken and made a Caprese salad for a family potluck in the afternoon. I cooked a pound of bacon, eating a few pieces with some Gouda and cherry tomatoes.

Family potluck. Slightly better food choices. Chicken, ham, salad, tomatoes, cheesecake and a piece of blueberry pie. A cousin made it - gluten free - she's trying a no wheat diet to see if it will help clear up her skin. I talked to her a little about it.

When I got home, the 5 remaining Lindt balls were staring at me. I want to go sugar free again this week, so I ate them...

        Sugar is EVIL
I feel like I'm starting over again tomorrow. Perhaps I may have to "re-think" this weekend thing...
But the alternative is the Whole 30 mindset - which I CAN'T/WON'T do again...
Hmmm, there must be a 1/2 way I can live with. I find it easier to say "No sugar during the week, but I can have some on the weekend" but then I went SUGAR CRAZY on the weekend... I also know from experience that I DON'T do well with "You can NOT EVER (or for 30 days) have - " But maybe, if I can remember how I FEEL after eating sugar, it will help. I think the part of Whole 30 that doesn't work for me is the "You will FAIL if you have" part. The super strict part...

        Now I'm just rambling...

        Sigh

Lily has a vet apt. tomorrow morning. I practiced with her - rubbing alcohol and a dull needle - so she'd know what might happen.

        • I think you have a point about the super strict part. I aim at 100% compliance, but don't sweat it over minor deviances. I think if you concentrate on "this will make me feel really sick" "this is setting me up for diabetes" you'll find it easier to pass on things, and cheat only in small amounts when you do cheat. "I prefer being healthy" is easier on our psyches than "I must not". I know that small amounts of sugar - occasionally! - especially when buffered by other food, is not going to hurt me, so I allow that.

Of course, I do have the advantage of coming off of years of being obese, and of battling health problems, so people tend to not pressure me. They figure I need to do it. And one of the advantages of being a middle-aged woman sliding ever closer to the next category, is that I royally don't care what people think anymore.

          • How about the No S plan:
No Sugar, Starches, Snacks, or Seconds
            except
Sometimes on days starting with S

Was reminded of this actual diet (I remember seeing the book years ago) by someone's post yesterday.

In the morning, I took my parents, sisters, and nieces on a tour of our new place.
I went back with them to the booth. My visiting sister brought the "fixin's" for sushi veggie rolls.
We made and ate them for lunch. I was there for 1 1/2 hours.
I had NO candy and NO ice cream!!!!!!

Daughter stayed to visit. I went home to pack. I was home for about a 1/2 hour when my sisters came over to help me
They stayed till 5 and then came back with the girls after supper. The girls helped my Daughter pack her room. My sisters helped me. They left again at 9:30 with two huge loads for the Goodwill donation box.

Lily still HATES the ear drops. She hides when I get the bottle out

                        Foods
Chai with whipping cream (and a little local honey)
2 sushi rolls (each one cut into 4) nori, sticky rice, cucumber, carrot, red pepper, asparagus, avocado, and tuna
                        2 glasses of wine
fried ground beef, potatoes, one cob of corn, caprese salad, cottage cheese, grapes, Alpine Punch loose tea

About 10 pm I thought I was hungry, I waited a bit and the feeling went away

                            • Thursday

This afternoon Daughter had her 2 year ACL surgery check-up at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Clinic in London. She "passed" and does not have to go back unless it gives her problems

Then we did a little more shopping and were home by 5. I took her out to the booth 'cause she's going to stay overnight with her visiting cousin. They were just getting ready to eat, so I joined them BUT it wasn't typical booth fair*. I was ther for almost 2 hours AND I had NO gummy worms and NO ice cream!!

I was gonna pack tonight, but after I did the dishes**, it just didn't happen. I did some laundry instead. I'll pack tomorrow.

Lily still does NOT like getting her ear drops Today it took two of us, a muzzle and a towel...

                              • Interesting Thought:

Remember a few weeks ago when I was eating chocolate EVERYDAY?
                                (and ice cream and...)

Well, I've had 2 8oz extra dark chocolate Brix bars sitting on my shelf since I returned from my trip east.

                                Both are unopened.

I see them occasionally when I walk by them, but they are not "calling" my Dragon.

                                For now.

AND I've had 3 booth trips with NO gummy worms and NO ice cream!!!

I wonder how long this will last??
