The more often I smoke, the more bad shit I eat, so smoking more frequently for me is not an option, I already think I smoke too frequently to begin with. My most offending days are Sundays, nothing to do, girlfriend at work, hello cannabis. I usually start around 2-3pm and, just like Bane and whiskey diet colas I can't have just one! so that day is devoted to smoking, working out (LONG sessions, this is the day where I mostly push my muscles to failure and I try a lot of different stuff) eating both good and bad stuff, but even when I eat good stuff I just eat a lot and nearly stuff myself, and I may masturbate once or twice. Hey, self love is the first love.

I'd absolutely have sex when I'm high but I don't like to be high around my girlfriend. I have only by accident (she had plans, I smoked, her plans fell through, she came by, sexy time) and of course it's awesome.

I've also noticed I never want to eat if I smoke with other people, the hunger seems to never hit, but when I'm alone it does, I guess it's lack of stimulus that makes one wonder. People in general eat more when they're bored.

I'm kinda pumped for the next 20 days, I hope you guys are too. I guess I might as well start sprinting again too.

    • I am thinking about taking it up another notch and cutting out bacon for this whole20.
My whole life, I've felt like an animal......but I've ignored my instincts. I ignored what I really am. That will never happen again.

Adventure - JESUS man. That's way crazier than I can handle. I'm probably going to be without wings for the 20 days (no butter in the Frank's - might be easier to just skip 'em) so I'm sure I'm going to need my bacon. Can't join you on that one, buddy.

I have to keep this entry short. Just having a quick lunch, then back to work. I'm freaking swamped today.

At least I have a better lunch than yesterday. Two 1/4 pound hamburger patties, an avocado, and a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and some of the avocado chopped up.

Have a good one, boys. Stay strong.

I got too happy about joining the "fun" with you lot. I'm going to stick to it though. I'm tired of giving in, no disrespect to women, but I feel like a bitch when I do and I know it's a conscientious decision despite being under the influence, so now that I've made the decision to spark and fast that's what I'm going to do damn it. I'm honestly more bummed about foregoing dairy for 20 days

This will toughen you up, that's for sure. I'm sad about the dairy, too... maybe I shouldn't haver been so strict with this, but I was all gung-ho the other day, and now I'm stuck with it I guess. Oh well.

Try drinking americanos, man. 2-3 shots of espresso topped up with hot water. I started liking them so much that I have them even when I'm not restricting dairy.

Bane, you should have thought this through before committing us to this you bastard.

As soon as I say I can't have certain things, I CRAVE it. Been a tough day, but stuck to it. My wife is now pissed at me because I making it difficult to cook. I don't care...I'm doing it.

                • Bah, just eat the stuff you're allowed to eat, leave the rest. It gets easy. My supper tonight is a good example.

My wife made spaghetti and meat sauce (2 pounds of meat) with garlic toast, and when I got home I threw a couple of small yams into a pot.

So of course I just had the meat sauce and yams with some Frank's, skipped the toast, spaghetti, and parmesan. I'm sure I ate a little more than a pound of meat tonight. I'm laying on the couch resting my gut right now. I squeezed in some pistols while cooking, so it's all post workout carb intake!!

Funny, I was wondering how to do 3x5 squats without a good weight set up at home, then it hit me - PISTOLS. I can't quite get 3 sets of 5 but it's a good goal. First set was good, second was murder (couldn't get 5 on right leg), then third set it just starts getting funny. I'm going to keep this up though, and when I can get 3x5 I'll start adding weight, and it won't take much... I'll try holding a 5lb plate or whatever. They do make my legs pretty sore, so it'll be interesting to see how well my legs respond over time to an increasing load and a focus on single leg work.

Parenting Win of the Day: My oldest daughter had yams instead of spaghetti tonight with me. She did have garlic toast, but hey, it's a start.

I'm sitting here sipping a cup of coffee from the Tassimo. This thing is awesome. Starbucks Verona (bold) is nice and strong, and perfectly drinkable without cream or sugar. I put a tablespoon of coconut oil in it to try it out, and it's really good.

Still have to keep the yams down though. I was going to keep it to one, but my daughter didn't eat a whole lot, so I ended up having about 1.5... then the tomatoes in the sauce, the avocado (though that's a bunch of fiber too) and I'm at about 118g for the day. Shyte, 2 days over 100 in a row. Oh well, not sweating it. It's all good food.

                  • Did you try the yams with chilli, lime, oil and coriander?

                    • No, I haven't had a chance to yet. Pretty hectic at work the last couple days. That recipe is sitting on my laptop though and will be on a plate soon enough.

OK, today's easy to read in a glance food log:

                      Meal 1 (12pm)
                      • 1/2 lb extra lean ground beef
                      • 1 avocado
                      • 1 cup lettuce
                      • 6 cherry tomatoes
                      • balsamic vinaigrette

                      Meal 2 (6pm)
                      • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
                      • 1.5 cups diced tomatoes
                      • 1 tbsp tomato paste
                      • 1.5 yams

Stuffed, not likely to be a meal 3 today.

I'm having one hell of a time not having a nice whiskey and diet tonight. My fucking ears are making me insane. Going to see the doc tomorrow morning about these goddamned things. Hope to either get some answers or a referral to a specialist or something.

Oh, that reminds me. I'll be booking a physical while I'm there, haven't had one in like 15 years. Wifey is saying I should have my cholesterol checked. I'm not too worried, but is there anything I can do beforehand to make my numbers any better? I've heard things (I think) like if you take a lot of vitamin d it can elevate certain numbers, etc. I need to research this a bit but just thought maybe some of you guys might know a little about this. I'd gladly skip the d supplementation (or certain foods, whatever) short term to "help" the cholesterol test. (not that I'm worried about it being high, I just would rather not have it come back high and give my wife ammo against this diet)

                      • The cholesterol expert will be sure to drop by and answer that, since you guys are such good friends and all LOL.

(sorry, but your exchanges with him make me laugh - particularly when you called him out for disagreeing with you when you were supposedly (and emphatically) on his ignore list! I am always on your side too but I am too gutless to say so...don't want to fight with such an idolised member and put others offside...gee, that makes me a shitty friend doesn't it?).

Wish I could help with an answer, but instead all I can suggest is that you don't get it done (you are gonna folllow primal anyway and assume it will all properly adjust) or you direct her to certain threads about the correct interpretation of the results, or you say the results are 'fine' no matter what they are.

                        • My brothers in arms: I have failed youuuuuuuuuuu!!

but no! I did not eat some processed snack while visiting La La land, I actually just had a regular meal at Thai place, but decided to turn "off" the Bane20 because I don't much like Bane to begin with and it's my hot body I'll do what I want!

I had some chicken soup, Tom Kha Gai, came in coconut milk but it was super lime-y and at first I didn't think I could put it away but I was starving so I chugged it down and it got easier with time (a soup metaphor for whole30) then my friend and I decided to split a Duck Salad and some curry that again came in coconut milk so I thought I was doing good on no dairy...
The duck salad had like 3oz of duck (stingy fuckers) but it was pretty damn good, nice lime dressing nothing sugary, very nice taste made me think about actually making a salad sometime. It had cashews which I ate so I stumped on your nuts so to speak. They served the curry on a bed of white rice so I ate that too because I would've looked really funny trying to pick it apart and it just so happened that I was eating with two friends that I've talked about nutrition with and I didn't want to look like a weirdo and have them believe that I always do that and that they should too because they would resist that. One was eating a rice dish with like a tiny bit of chicken so I didn't want to make her feel bad since they definitely would've asked why I was fussing with the rice.

I drank water, they had sweet Thai Iced Tea, I took a sip, WAY sweet.

We did order dessert though, one was a cooked banana with some vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup on top: YUMMY
The other was a mango mousse with mango slices and raspberry syrup: YUMMY AGAIN

So I had dairy, I claimed the last bite of ice cream even. I do think it was all in moderation considering we split one scoop in three.

Overall it was a great meal, and since I didn't make anything I don't feel like I cheated you all that much but I know that technically I did.

However, a small victory: I smoked again last night (I really like that stuff...) but once again did not eat a single thing. I did go to sleep rather soon, I guess. Stoners say weed makes you "happy, hungry, sleepy" so since I'm trying to suppress or ignore the hungry bit it's going straight to sleepy. I'm still glad I started this experiment and I do believe it will create a lasting habit but I also know how easy it is to relapse into old habits. I'm still with you dudes, but not at the moment cus I'm sipping on coffee with some organic half and half I bought from Trader Joe's! sorry I bought it 2 days before reading this thread and it's going to go bad so yeah. I also just bought some butter so I guess I'm going to allow some dairy but restrict it, no dairy at work! that will limit my dairy consumption a lot since I add cream/etc to coffee and sometimes to tea when I'm working so I won't do that but if I want to put it in my morning coffee or add some butter to wings/vegs/pots I'm going to do that.

Too much packaging man! I guess you already bought the thing, so throwing it away to buy an conventional espresso machine that accepts ground coffee makes no sense environmentally...but, if you had it to do over again, I'd strongly recommend such a machine.

                            • Hey man, you made the decision to joint me while you were friggin' HIGH, so I think we can render your contract null and void. I wouldn't worry about it.

You're young and in shape and workout a hell of a lot more than I do, so I'm in no position to say anything about your meal last night. Hell, I think you should eat like that once in a while. Sounds like you had a good time out with some friends, and the whole thing wasn't that big a deal.

In fact, you should keep doing this nightly and posting about it in great detail. I'll eat vicariously through you.

Mog - yeah, I'm not expecting Griff to come flying in here with answers. That's ok. I still love the big guy!!

I know. It bothers me that there is so much waste.

I did have an espresso machine for 15 years that my grandma had bought for my birthday. It finally gave up the ghost a couple of months ago. I was pretty sad man, I had that thing for such a long time. My wife's grandma heard about it and bought me this one for Christmas this year. Bought the machine and a bunch of different coffees, hot chocolates for the kids, etc. Pretty tough not to open it up and fire up some drinks on Christmas morning.

But I hear ya, I'm not even a big time recycler and it pisses me off to create so much garbage with it. I'll make up for it with some extra recycling elsewhere.

It *is* pretty sweet though to pop a disc in there, hit start, and be drinking an americano within 45 seconds. If I'm going to destroy the planet I might as well get some benefits while I'm at it, eh?
