    The things chima_p mentioned are great sources of carbs when you must have them. Starch is a lot better than sugar.

      Gotprimal: What do you mean by: Mind->Muscle or Mind->Body?

      Ever go to a gym with mirrors plastered up everywhere? Its based on a person&#39;s mind->body or others call it mind->muscle connection.


      The more of a "mental" connection you can have with that bicep, chest, tricep muscle, the more profound contraction you can create with your mind/brain, helps you stay motivated through out the work out.


      That is what I was getting on..



      Starch is a lot better than sugar.

      ???


      Starch is a couple of sugar molecules thrown together..

      Both cause the body to release insulin.

      Both are converted to glucose.

      Both increase blood sugar.


      Please, qualify your findings.

        Because most things that have sugars (fruits, honey, agave, etc) also have a lot of fructose in them, and we all know it is bad. So not all sugars are converted into glucose, but all starch is.

          Thats a rather large blanket statement?


          Fruits have a combination of free form fructose and its supplement sucrose. The free form doesn&#39;t undergo typtical digestion, that is correct. It goes straight to the Liver as a hepatoxin, converted to triglycerides.


          The remaining sucrose (a disaccharide of fructose) gets digested, and causes the things listed above.


          I still see a difficult path when recommending one over the other.

            Raphael is going of the assumption that we absolutely need some form of glucose from food to create energy and gain muscle.


            Doesn&#39;t work for everyone and you can create similar effects by completely aliminating all sorts of starches and sugars too.
