  • Max heart tate

I cycle in the blue ridge mountains. My max aerobic heart rate is 180-50=130. How can I stay under this rate when the slightest hills puts my rate over 130? I'm in decent athletic fitness, but cannot stay under 130 on my bike when climbing. Any suggestions?

Get gearing that will let you spin more? Go to an MTB cassette in the rear? There are kits out (WolfTooth) that will also bump up an MTB cassette to a 42t, mega granny gear.

I have pretty good gearing on my bike and love riding hills, but the only option I have to stay aerobic is to stay on a flatter course.
